    Closer

QUOTE (glangon @ Apr 14, 2014 -> 08:23 AM) I'm not too worried with the bullpen as I believe that guys like Lindstrom, Belllisario and Downs will settle down. What is encouraging is that the young guys like Petricka, Cleto and Webb seem to be pitching well and it will be a tough choice for Robin to make when Jones comes back. I think we'll see Lindstrom remain as closer until Jones comes back and if there is no improvement by then, then Robin will look at Jones once he is fully fit again. As for Veal, I think he is on the way out. I reckon we may see him waived soon and Charlie Leesman, eric Surkamp or David Purcey called up in his place. I don't think Veal is going anywhere yet. He's shown flashes of being pretty good against lefties. Downs on the other hand...he should be told tomorrow he has tendonitis and hit the DL for a couple weeks.
  3. First pitch tomorrow night--37 degrees.

    2014 TV thread

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 13, 2014 -> 10:19 PM) GoT: satisfying. Mad Men: boring. Yeah, it's going to get better, but that wasn't riveting television last night. I almost want to pass on the next six shows, and just wait another year, as a protest to the 7/7 split.
  5. Rondon 3-6, hitting .298.
  6. It's not a team where you hit the panic button and do something drastic right now. Try to fix the problem internally, and then if the team is still in it at the break, then do something. Webb should close.
  7. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Apr 13, 2014 -> 07:00 PM) Not me, it was the right move. And I like Avi. Cleto can't be the closer. His command is entirely too inconsistent. Hope Webb gets a chance Cleto in the 8th, Webb in the 9th. It's not going to be perfect, but better than what's going on now.

  9. QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 13, 2014 -> 06:46 PM) You don't like Peavy or just want the Sox to win? It's not that I don't like Peavy, but I never thought of him as a true Sox player. Same as Rios. Just something not there for me.
  10. 48 hours away, but I hope Peavy gets torched.
  11. It'll get lost, but Quintana is a stud.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 13, 2014 -> 06:34 PM) Please don't jinx the Sox by giving us the Death March schedule for the next 3-4 weeks, haha. Playing the Red Sox, Rangers and Tigers will tell us a lot. Especially about the bullpen. Sink or swim. Out of the frying plan and into the fire. 20-16 when the Cubs series ends, and we're in it.
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 13, 2014 -> 06:30 PM) More wins against the Indians this year than we had all of last year. Just about to say it.
  14. Yeah! Hey Hahn---you have a decent team, and there's league parity. Fix the pen!
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 13, 2014 -> 06:22 PM) Yes, but he always makes the routine plays and the scoops in the dirt. No range, sure...but he would have made the plays that Abreu has messed up. Agreed. Abreu has been stone hands so far.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 13, 2014 -> 06:16 PM) The problem is you need to let him grow into the role naturally...it's a progression. Forcing Webb there right now probably isn't the right move yet. They'll try Cleto or Belisario first. I would go with Cleto, simply because there's nothing to lose. He fails over a two week period, then you've bought Webb some more time. Of course. Horrible defense gets the White Sox into a hole again. Demoralizing. Nah, give me a break. Webb's a stud. Outs are outs, and he knows how to get them.
  17. Webb's the closer starting Tuesday, and there's got to be a long reliever there too.
  18. Nice. Missed it watching the Masters, but NICE!
  19. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 13, 2014 -> 05:34 PM) Kluber mowing the Sox down. Ventura already tipping his cap. No, but he's been good.
  20. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Apr 13, 2014 -> 05:17 PM) Now the bullpen.... I'll give Cleto, Webb, and Lindstrom a fighting chance.
  21. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 13, 2014 -> 04:56 PM) Is Robin really going to let Quintana complete the inning and go 120+ pitches? That's what happens when you don't have a long reliever in your bullpen. Something will happen on Tuesday.
