  1. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 17, 2013 -> 05:48 PM) That's exactly how I feel. I'll start worrying about the Cubs if and when all these prospects turn into quality major leaguers. Until then, they're all unknowns just like any other team's prospects. Why worry about them even then? I worry about one team - the White Sox. As a baseball fan, I would respect the Cubs organization if this plan they're trying to produce actually works over time. Until then, there are no guarantees it will work.
  2. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Mar 17, 2013 -> 05:55 PM) Where are you getting that forecast? I've been checking periodically highest I've seen was 51. 59 would be amazing. http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/chicago-i...eather/26466_pc
  3. Sox lose 10-0. Anxiously awaiting news of Zach Stewart's release.
  4. Warnings issued to both benches today. KC opening series. Send a message.
  5. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 17, 2013 -> 04:17 PM) Jordan Danks on a role after his miserable start. 2 for 2 today .BA up to .333 . Yes. Before that game Friday, he looked brutal at the plate. It would be cool if he actually had an opportunity to outplay Wise for a spot, but I don't think it's going to happen.
  6. I hope Zach Stewart gets released tonight. They don't need him--even at AAA.
  7. Good to see Zach Stewart still sucks.
  8. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 17, 2013 -> 02:21 PM) I'm so f***ing sick of this blind love for Theo Epstein and all things Cubs around here. Epstein's rebuilding process (i.e. purposely losing games) has done very little for the Cubs system. The Cubs #1 & #5 top prospects were both Jim Hendry draft picks, as is the majority of their system. Their #3 prospect was bought for $30 million, and unfortunately for them, the new CBA will not allow them to buy prospects like that anymore. Their #4 prospect was acquired in a trade, which was indirectly the result of another botched trade with Atlanta. That leaves their #2 prospect, who was the result of a high draft pick. This a prospect years away from contributing and even he was outperformed by the HS outfielder we were able to select later in the 1st round The point isn't that Epstein hasn't done things to help the Cubs. It's just that going the full rebuilding route hasn't had much impact yet. People need to stop pretending that Epstein is a miracle worker and realize what he is. A very smart, business savy leader who was able to leverage certain draft loopholes and financial advantages to give the Red Sox an edge. He's going to have to reinvent himself, because the new CBA isn't doing him any favors. I'm not saying that's not possible, but let's put away the jump to conclusions mats and not award the Cubs the 2016 World Series trophy just yet. Yeah, there's no guarantee what the Cubs are doing will get them what they're going for, which is sustained success. But if they go from 2015 to 2024 with 7 or 8 playoff appearances and a World Series win or two, Epstein and crew will deserve a lot of credit. Until then, it's just a rebuilding process that has no guarantee of working.
  9. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Mar 17, 2013 -> 01:54 PM) Agree. I bet Ranger likes it though, and I also bet he'll defend Robin's decision 100+ times this year during the pre and post shows. Dunn is batting 5th this year.
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 17, 2013 -> 12:28 PM) Kids are dumb. I certainly didnt know the difference between moderation and blackout drunk when I was 16 Yeah, me too. It just seems like that's the goal now. Drink until you pass out.
  11. I don't blame the girl at all in all of this, but it seems like young people don't know how to drink. The goal shouldn't be to get black out drunk. Bad things happen. Cautionary tale.
  12. Just for the hell of it, I checked the attendance of all the games played in Arizona yesterday--beautiful Saturday afternoon, deeper into spring training now... Rockies- 12,427 Giants- 11,738 Indians- 11,023 Rangers- 10,199 Cubs- 9,918 A's- 8,739 Padres- 8,526 Brewers- 6,083 White Sox- 5,547 I can see proximity being a factor for the Sox fan base making their way out to Arizona, but I feel like the Sox fan base is just eroding with time. It's a football city, and hardly anyone is going to use their "fun money" to go to Phoenix for exhibition baseball. And our Chicagoland retirees are more likely in Florida than Arizona--at least I think so. I've been out there once and drove down to Tucson when they trained there. It's a good time, but I guess it's a tough sell to get Sox fans out there for ST.
  13. 15 days away, but the opening day high temp is supposed to be 59. I'd take that.
  14. Keppinger and Flowers are back in the lineup today. Sox leave Arizona 10 days from tonight. We're getting close. edit: I guess Flowers is going to hold off until Tuesday. Off day Monday.
  15. Tyler Saladino-- human rain delay
  16. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 16, 2013 -> 05:04 PM) Maybe he was working on a specific pitch He seemed to be trying to pitch inside a lot.
  17. Not good results for Sale today, but he was close to 90 pitches. Two more spring starts.
  18. Sale a little rusty with his control today. Defense didn't help in that 3 run inning.
  19. Orioles send down Dylan Bundy. He'll be back.
  20. Harold Reynolds just ruins everything he touches. I'm trying to watch some WBC, but he just makes it hard to watch.
  21. Obviously Carlos Sanchez won't be making the team, but I think with him still around, they're taking a real long look at him. They know he's close.
  22. Lineups- http://baseballpress.com/lineup.php Video- http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/video/play...96&c_id=cws
  23. Carlos Sanchez is the only player still in big league camp without any major league experience.
  24. This would have been a good game to bring Hawkins up. A little TV time.
