  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 10:19 PM) My favorite moment of the game was McCarver saying Youkilis might be the most valuable player in baseball due to his production as related to his relatively low salary (6 million). Meanwhile, the next guy up makes a little over league minimum and has better numbers this year while playing numerous positions (Zobrist). There are a few others too. Off my head Lincecum makes like $400k and Adrian Gonzalez makes like $4m.
  2. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 09:58 PM) flexible >>>>>>>> singing voice
  3. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 09:35 PM) really? gross. To me she's much more attractive than Shawn Johnson.
  4. QUOTE (kev211 @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 09:51 PM) That's not smart though because if a situation gets tough they wont have a closer to bring in to end it. I don't think theres a starter in the league who can come into a hairy situation and pitch out of it. They just don't do it and are only used to fixing their own messes. I believe the NL has broxton, and K-rod left. Better hope this doesnt go extras, and better hope a pitcher doesnt create a mess. Broxton is out due to injury I thought.
  5. QUOTE (Cali @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 09:25 PM) WHy did Manuel use 2 of his closers so early? Franklin and Hoffman done already. Better hope Bell and K-Rod can hold a lead....if they get one Hes used three. Cordero, Hoffman and Franklin.
  6. You guys can have Shawn Johnson, I'll take Sara Evans.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 07:39 PM) He just earned my vote for whatever he ever runs for. That was just neat to see. My Sox Pride is swelling right now.
  8. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 07:18 PM) What if he shoplifted a $30 belt, beat his wife, lost custody of his kids for terrible parenting, or threw fireworks at a crowd of people? Chants like "you suck" or something filled with profanity is stupid. But I love it when someone makes a wise crack and gets laughter from a few rows of people. My favorite heckling is when someone can get the player to laugh about it.
  9. I'm going to get my haircut like Yadier.
  10. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 04:57 PM) Eh, if you were still in Iowa, you'd have known about her a couple of years ago. She's a HUGE deal in this state, and you'd be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't know of her here. I mean, how's that make you feel about your state?
  11. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 13, 2009 -> 10:54 PM) You got a new keyboard I see. GF allow you to get a new computer? Welcome back! Hahaha oh come on, everyone loves my old keyboard.
  12. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jul 13, 2009 -> 11:12 PM) I'm not investing in golf clubs until I graduate college and get a real job. The only new clubs I have are a Burner Driver (taylormade) and a Callaway X-18 6 and 8 iron and sand wedge. Also got a Cobra 7-wood that I love (hit it about 200 yds, which is as well as I hit a 3-wood - not sure why). I work at a golf course and all the previously mentioned clubs were demo's that they were going to throw away, so I took them. Otherwise, I have a set of Wilson irons from like 1990 that are hand-me-downs. I definitely want some new irons, though. Think I'll go with the new Callaways whenever they come out since I love my X-18's. My old irons were X-18s. Terrific irons. I really liked them.
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 10:00 AM) I have admitted on here that I am a fan of the College Softball World Series. I can watch women's college basketball if it is two good teams playing each other, but that seems rare. I watch the women's softball World Series every year. I also watch the LPGA anytime it is on. I am a big Lorena Ochoa fan. I find the LPGA easier to follow than the PGA because there's really a lot less top players and the same ten women tend to compete every week. They make a few more mistakes than the men on the PGA and I can relate more to them. I don't relate amateur golf to the PGA at all. Also, have you ever seen Natalie Gulbis?!
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 13, 2009 -> 10:14 PM) I was just going to post this. They are moving Versteeg, especially after having to give him the $$ prematurely. I didn't think about Versteeg. He would fall into the category of "potential top liner." It seems so weird they messed up with him.
  15. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 13, 2009 -> 10:00 PM) The top line players part might be wishful thinking for Montreal as well...or their idea of "top line" is different than ours. I could see the true comment being 'top line potential" and that could give you Buff and Barker. I feel like you're reading my mind though.
  16. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 13, 2009 -> 09:51 PM) I am thinking Barker and Sharp....not exactly top line guys....but I couldn't imagine who else they would deal.. I would have brought up Barker but I agree about him not being a top liner plus he just signed a new deal. My logic is Keith will be up soon and maybe they don't think they can afford him and Kane and Toews. Trade him now where they can get huge value. Sharp would have been the forward I brought up but he just fits so well here and seems like someone they'd have to keep. Maybe Buff? He played like a top two liner forward in the playoffs. No Kane, Toews, Sharp, Hossa, Bolland so who else? Gotta be Buff or Sharp.
  17. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 13, 2009 -> 09:46 PM) http://gohabs.freeforums.org/eklund-says-t5981.html "Meanwhile, the Canadiens are talking to the Blackhawks about a deal that would send "two top line players, one foreward and one d-man" to Montreal." They mention Sopel on the site but he isn't a top line player. He'd be a third line defenseman on a lot of teams at best. Maybe Keith. As for the forward.. um I couldn't even try to speculate.
  18. QUOTE (Linnwood @ Jul 13, 2009 -> 07:12 PM) This. I disagree. Morneau, Kubel, Cuddyer, Mauer, Young and Crede can all hit home runs. I would never call them a home run team like the Sox but with that talent they'll be fine. Just my humble opinion.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 13, 2009 -> 08:16 PM) Harborside is 57 bucks after 3:30, dubsdread isnt worth playing to be honest, stick to course #2 (ravines) for cheaper. Bolingbrook is better than Dubs IMO. For Steve, you gotta get off #1 at Cog, its pretty overpriced for what it is. I would recommend something like Coyote Run which is a similar difficulty but is only 40 bucks. I've played #1 and #3 at Cog Hill. I know all about #2 and Dubsdread. I meant #1 was one of my favorite course, not necessarily the best. I was invited to play Dubs last weekend but I already had a tee time at Highlands of Elgin. You can play Cog #1 and #3 for $35 with a cart after 2pm. Another course I'll probably play in the fall is Wolf Creek in Vegas. I have never heard a bad thing about that course. I'm pretty excited for that.
  20. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jul 13, 2009 -> 01:14 PM) HOw many true domes are left? Not the retractable kind, which, at least they have real grass. Is it just Tampa? Can't remember if Toronto's is retractable. It is retractable. My favorite Darren Jackson moment ever was at the Rogers Centre a few years ago. Someone could probably do a recap better but the short of it is they had the dome open that game (a day game) and it started to pour. DJ makes a comment like "they should get a tarp on the field, oh wait, it's a dome." One of my top five all time favorite funny sports moments.
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 13, 2009 -> 03:46 PM) He was probably referring to the players. Yeah I meant it would be important to the players, the coaches, the staff and their families. It would take a few hundred dollars for me to change my mind because of course someone else's day would be made by winning the title in place of the Sky.
  22. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 11:11 PM) Wow, the Odyssey White Hot XG is the one I got today! I really liked the way it felt on the practice green, and for the price, it's one of the best values out there. Unless this one blows me away for this year and probably next, I'll probably go back and buy the Ping G2i Craz-E Mallet Style putter. I LOVE that putter. BTW, perhaps we have the same friend? Haha. You mentioned he was your roommate, well my friend is also my roommate. The more likely scenario is you're myself from a parallel universe. So what is everyone's favorite courses that they have played? Here my five favs: 1. Revere at the Anthem, Concord, Las Vegas 2. Cog Hill GC #1, Lemont IL 3. Oak Grove GC, Harvard IL 4. Bali Hai, Las Vegas 5. Tanna Farms, Geneva IL I really want to play Dubsdread at Cog Hill too.
  23. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Jul 13, 2009 -> 11:51 AM) I think that Landis got a raw deal to be honest. Lance Armstrong won't stop whining though. Today, there's a story about how Contador wasn't a team player for attacking late and overtaking Armstrong in the overall standings - according to Lance. The rumor is Lance is going to start his own team next year. Team Astana had some issues with funding this year forcing the Kazakh government to financially guarantee the team. It seems like it's Johan Brunyel's team and they'll likely just get an American sponsor (possibly something like Nike Livestrong). I think they will just take Astana and make it American (not without a fight from Kazakhstan though). I'm sure they would want to bring Levi, Popo and some of the others with Lance. That's just my thoughts but it seems the most plausible scenario. What I read today was it looks like Contrador is going to go to Caisse D'Epangne next year. I hadn't thought of them but it's another Spanish team which would make sense.
  24. Oh and best advise I ever got when buying my clubs: only you know what will feel perfect to you. If you look down the shaft and don't like what you see, you'll never hit it great. I bought the Mizuno's because they felt like they were meant for my hand and I had all the confidence in the world with them in my hand.
  25. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 10:35 PM) Funny you should mention that. My roomate, who got me into golf, uses Cobra irons as well and actually suggested that I get the Mizuno MX20 irons before I settled on the Nike Slingshot 4Ds. Mizuno makes REALLY good irons. And the next 2 clubs on my list: Ping putter and Titleist 56/60 degree wedges. Vokey's are well worth the money. I'd be lost with out the lob wedge around the green. I really love the Mizuno's too. They play really crisp. Mizuno's are traditionally one of the best irons (a Golf Digest gold club) for intermediate players. The reason people don't think of them is because they only pay Luke Donald on the tour, no one else. Tiger Woods used Mizuno's in college and there's a story that Titleist paid Mizuno a lot of money for blank heads so they could stamp Titleist on them after he turned pro and signed with Titleist for lots of money. My buddy with the Cobras uses a Ping putter (that's really funny and what a coincidence). He likes it a lot. I have a Taylormade Daytona 1 Rossa. I like it a lot but if I did it again I'd get a Titleist Cameron or an Odyssey White Hot.
