  1. I did my best to not get my hopes up but I am rather sad and worried we will get no one.
  2. Ran a 40:45 10k (6.21mi) on another hilly course on Saturday. It was in Stroh, Indiana and there was probably less than 100 total people for the 10k and 5k combined. I was out there visiting my aunt and uncle's lake house. The weird thing about the race was there was no water and the 3rd and 4th miles were not even marked. Since there were so few people, I ran by myself for 95% of the race (couldn't even see anyone for 85% of it). It turned into a glorified training run.
  3. I might get flamed here but what would people think about bringing in Nabokov and taking the draft pick(s) for someone else signing Niemi. I believe it was McKenzie on Twitter who said a team who everyone expects to have their goaltender set may be a darkhourse for Nabokov.
  4. ^ I am not sold on the BMC squad. I think the top squad are so powerful, if Cadel wants to win, he'll need to do it on his own. RadioShack, Saxo Bank, Astana, Columbia, Garmin, Liquigas and even Sky are bringing some good teams. I am so excited, I cannot wait, this is my favorite sporting event.
  5. My roommate is a longtime season ticket holder and diehard hockey fan (annoys the hell out of me, sorry guys) and he seems very excited about Stalberg. Said he put up worse numbers last year because they really didn't have anyone (besides Keisel). Look at the bust Phaneuf was. Well done Stan.
  6. RealGM boards are saying he reported it on his Twitter. I am at the point where I am prepared for Boozer and Johnson and I am happy with that.
  7. QUOTE (greasywheels121 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 08:27 PM) I think you can't not believe him this time, with his age, but Lance Armstrong has called this his last TDF. I don't believe it. He's not the oldest guy in the peloton yet and he is still competitive. I also think he is able to raise much more money for cancer research by staying competitive. I honestly think he'll race next year (barring any injuries) especially if he is on the podium again.
  8. Does anyone have any idea when the Blackberry Slider is going to come out? I have seen some pics and rumors had it possibly coming out in June on AT&T. Any new rumors or thoughts? I am going to be buying it if it ever comes out. Sorry if it has been talked about, my search function wasn't working and I didn't want to scroll through 50+ pages.
  9. The 2010 Tour is coming up. I couldn't have been happier with the cycling coverage Versus has had this spring. Who does everyone have? I think AC will win but I will be cheering for the Saxo boys to be pulling an upset.
  10. Played St. Ives in Michigan two weekends ago and I can say it was the nicest course in the Midwest I have played. Problem was I played with a buddy who shot a gentleman's 162 (I was reading CNN on my Blackberry between my shots, it got so boring). I would never play with him again but he got us a great deal to get on the course because his frat brother works there. iamshuck, I have played Royal Links, Shadow Creek, Bali Hai and Revere at the Anthem in the past 18 months. Any fun courses you could recommend? My buddies and I head out to Vegas a couple times a year. We're headed back in August but won't play (too hot). Possible later this year we will though.

    Road Bikes

Haven't qualified yet greasy. Horse before the cart, sorry for any confusion haha.
  12. Awesome thread and good racing maggsmaggs. I ran a 1:33:40 half marathon on a hilly (and somewhat sandy) course in Ludington, MI two weekends ago. Followed it up the following Tuesday with five sub six minute miles in a race called Mile Madness in Lisle/Naperville/beats me where Nequa Valley is (five 1600 meter time trials at five different tracks the same evening) then ran a sprint triathlon (700m, 14mi, 4.5mi) in Palatine on Sunday. My goal is to break 3 hours at Chicago. I would love to qualify for Boston as well (need to break 3:10). After that, I want to compete in a half Ironman and maybe one day, a full Ironman. All of those are pretty lofty goals but I feel if I am committed and work hard, they're attainable.

    Is Jillian hot?

This poll is misleading. I am not allowed to vote for both. I don't think she's hot because I cannot get past her face but her body definitely nomnomnomable.

    Road Bikes

Does anyone have a road bike? I borrowed a buddy's Trek 2100c for a triathlon last weekend and now I am finally going to buy a road bike of my own. I have looked at a bunch of bikes (Trek, Scott, Specialized, Fuji and a few others) and the best setup for the price seems to be the Trek 2.1. It's the updated version of the 2100. I would prefer around a $1500 or less budget but could spend more for the right bike. Does anyone have any tips for purchasing a bike? I am looking for more than just an entry level bike that is suitable for both triathlons and group riding (so I'd like to stick with a road bike rather than a tri bike). I am fine with an aluminum frame and I have been told to be focused on the specs to compare bikes. I plan on doing a couple more triathlons this year. Obviously training for those would log some serious mileage on a bike. A little background, I am 25 and was a wrestler at Michigan State. I spend most of my workout time running or swimming (some mountain biking). I basically took a few years off of working out after I stopped wrestling, so in three months of training I was down to a 1:33 half marathon. Now I am training to break 3 hours on a marathon. After that (and running Boston), my goal is to do at least a half Ironman.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 06:00 PM) You could throw in the gold metal in olympic sports if you wanted to use the four year thing as a barometer. I think that would make the basketball gold the toughest of all, because the fewest countries have won it. I thought about gold medals but I couldn't find a team sport that was as hard to win as the WC. In basketball, the USA is just too dominant (sans one tournament).
  16. Another referee blunder. It seems like every game is marked by it now.
  17. QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 11:48 AM) I can't even think straight right now, this game is huge! Come on Yanks!!!! +1 +2 +3 +4 Let's go America!
  18. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 11:06 AM) Oh I thought you were talking about Diego Suarez after his 2 goals, my bad. If you're a defensive midfielder like Perez, that sort of energy / stamina is the #1 must for that position basically. You are all turned around my Aussie friend. It's Luis Suarez and Diego Forlan.
  19. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 11:01 AM) http://www.examiner.com/x-490-Chicago-Bull...ms-on-his-terms LeBron will have his own little summit, where the Bulls, Heat, Clippers, Cavs, Nets, and Knicks will present to him. I am genuinely afraid his act will get old if he comes here. He can only become more and more of a diva than he is now if he wins a few titles. I'm torn, the player versus the person. I would prefer he would show us he is a winner than showing us he wants to be treated like a seventeen year old girl on prom night (I know the what would I do response, I would not even mess with all this, collude with Bosh and Wade and go be the best player on the best team).
  20. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 10:54 AM) Suarez that is. He'll go to Tottenham for $15-20M straight after the World Cup that is. Suarez that is? Huh DBAH0? He is a brilliant finisher but I think I was most impressed with how he would come back and help on defense. He really came off as an all-around player even though he had a quiet spell upfront today. What I mean by calling Perez a bull is I love his hustle and seemingly endless energy. The way he drove right through a Korean tackle and drew a foul just minutes after drawing a corner via hustle. I enjoy guys who play like him, even though he is no where near as skilled as Suarez, Forlan and a lot of the rest of the guys on the pitch.
  21. I voted for the World Cup mainly because two factors. It only happens once every four years (I know it's been discussed prior in this thread) and thus there are four Stanley Cups, Lombardi Throphies, et cetera for each WC. Also, players only have a limited number of WCs in them, you might have a star (see Drogba) but if you have a bad draw twice, you could never even make it out of the group stages and then you're too old. The other factor there really isn't a ton of parity in soccer when it comes to serious contenders. Yes, someone outside the usual suspects might make it to the semifinals, but in the end, one of the powers will win the title. The Blackhawks are a good example, think back four years when they couldn't make the playoffs. Now compare that to Honduras who failed to make the WC four years ago. Now, the Hawks went and won the Stanley Cup however Honduras had less than a 1% chance to win the WC (and obviously didn't). Just my opinion.
