July 14, 200916 yr I hope Obama rocks some White Sox stuff when he throws out the first pitch... If he sells out and wears Cardinals stuff I'm gonna be pissed
July 14, 200916 yr Not sure it's been reported on here, but Buehrle is going to be the 2nd pitcher for the AL. Also, Hanley Ramirez has some gigantic arms.
July 14, 200916 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 04:43 PM) Harold Reynolds is pretty awesome as a "sideline reporter". And sounds like Chris Rock when you get him going.
July 14, 200916 yr Barrack must wear a Sox hat. If Shawn Johnson wore one, he must. Edited July 14, 200916 yr by chw42
July 14, 200916 yr QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 07:16 PM) Barrack must wear a Sox hat. I bet he wears an All-Star Game hat.
July 14, 200916 yr QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 06:16 PM) I bet he wears an All-Star Game hat. That's what I'm afraid of. xD
July 15, 200916 yr My mom grew up in St. Louis and is a die hard Cardinals fan. 2 to 1 odds she cries when Musial comes out.
July 15, 200916 yr Footage of Obama small talking with the players in the locker room looked uncomfortable for both sides for some reason.
July 15, 200916 yr There are 2 Pirates on the team. And Only Buehrle is there for the Sox? What a shame..
July 15, 200916 yr seriously, in this age of ESPN, and internet voting, will there EVER be another White Sox starter in the All-Star game (that's not a pitcher)?
July 15, 200916 yr QUOTE (Cali @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 07:18 PM) seriously, in this age of ESPN, and internet voting, will there EVER be another White Sox starter in the All-Star game (that's not a pitcher)? are you asking if the Sox will have a position player as a starter, or just plain having a position player in the All Star game? I dont think it will be too long before Beckham is mentioned as an all star. Just last year we had Quentin there, I dont think its that far off to have another position player in the game
July 15, 200916 yr QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 05:21 PM) are you asking if the Sox will have a position player as a starter, or just plain having a position player in the All Star game? I dont think it will be too long before Beckham is mentioned as an all star. Just last year we had Quentin there, I dont think its that far off to have another position player in the game A position player, in the starting line-up VOTED by the fans. Not like in the situation with Michael Young or Aaron Hill, where the people voted in couldn't play.
July 15, 200916 yr QUOTE (Cali @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 07:18 PM) seriously, in this age of ESPN, and internet voting, will there EVER be another White Sox starter in the All-Star game (that's not a pitcher)? Let's win the WS again so Ozzie can just bring whoever he wants again
July 15, 200916 yr seriously, in this age of ESPN, and internet voting, will there EVER be another White Sox starter in the All-Star game (that's not a pitcher)? Id venture to say yes. Sox players have done pretty well being elected the last player in via internet vote. When the Sox have a team that doesnt create apathy at the beginning of the season, you will see huge vote numbers.
July 15, 200916 yr Author Barack Obama is about to throw the first pitch. Any predictions? Strike? Ball? Throw it in the stands? Throw it in the dirt?
July 15, 200916 yr It doesn't matter how good the team is playing as it pertains to voting. Apparently there just aren't enough White Sox fans in existence who vote. Not one starter voted in in 2005 when they we're playing great. Or in 2000. There have been plenty of Sox players worthy, and who weren't even close to the number of votes needed. Someone is gonna have to light the world on fire to ever get the starting job again. It boggles my mind sometimes. Mauer is from Minnesota which was almost contracted 7 years ago, and a smaller market than Chicago. Voted in. Longoria from TB a team that's been around for 10 years and struggled to sell out the playoffs. Voted in. Edited July 15, 200916 yr by Cali
July 15, 200916 yr Then how do you explain Pods and AJ being voted in as the last player? Sox fans just dont care enough in April to start voting for a player just because they like them. If CQ had been healthy and on fire, I think he would have had a ton of votes.
July 15, 200916 yr QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 05:35 PM) Then how do you explain Pods and AJ being voted in as the last player? Sox fans just dont care enough in April to start voting for a player just because they like them. If CQ had been healthy and on fire, I think he would have had a ton of votes. Because it was a choice between only 5 players, not every player in baseball....
