People were (wrongly) expecting an announcement today. The Sox had Yonder Alonso calling unpaid season ticket holders saying: "It is going to be surprising, lots of surprises" and "Who knows, he might be my neighbor". That is bananas. You have to convert if that is the stuff you are pulling. Don't blame fan(atics) for being antsy. This is (evidently) what the front office wanted. They wanted the hype. Well they've got it.

As far as I saw MLBTradeRumors didn't say they didn't have discussions. Also, are your referring to the same Ken Rosenthal that said the deal isn't close?

They know that the Dodgers as currently assembled still need Joc and that most teams in baseball could use him. So him going to the White Sox with only two years remaining deal does not seem to make a ton of sense.

I heard him say on Barstool radio Tuesday that he had a conference call with the team to discuss his role as a fan liaison and how he is now a full time blogger who wants to report news. I figured if he proactively set up the meeting with someone it likely means nothing, but if they were calling him and possibly other White Sox internet people (possibly to stress only reporting actual news and not rumors) it could be a good sign.
