Sox Sign Jon Jay; 1 year/$4 mil, Charlie Tilson DFA'd
Not saying this isn't going to work but put me firmly in the "Machado would prefer the $13,000,000" camp.

These Manny buddy acquisitions would be diabolical if their purpose was to worry Boras that we might be closing in on Manny, to force Bryce to jump.

Kenny has definitely asked Manny if he has any friends that have played football.

If I had to guess he (and others) has a strong Harper>Machado preference and is feeling the heat.

Poor Moustakas, desperately working on his tan and learning all the lines from Scarface.

Machado signs with Padres 10/300
I honestly wondered about the move for a little different reason. I think Dan Bernstein once said years ago that 99% of baseball players are unfaithful to their wives.... or something along those lines. He pretty much said that it was just a thing. They all cheat. Like not most, but all. And this is 100% unfair to Manny, but just judging a book by it's cover he's about the last guy I might nominate to fall in that 1%. So, is there a chance he might NOT want his brother in law around? Even if Yonder is "aware" he might not want to have to be around it.

I'm afraid that if these low 200 numbers are true.... that there is gonna be some unexpected suitors.

Someone ask Phil for a picture of Jerry home in his robe for proof.

Zero chance he flies commercial to go sign a $350,000,000 payday. I know a guy worth maybe 10-15mm and he flies private. I mean, he is a dumb asshole but he still has 5% the money Manny has and .0001% the money Jerry has.

Levine: Sox won't offer more than 7 years for either player
"You see Manny, if you sign too long of a deal, your production likely won't warrant the money owed in the final years of your deal and you could get passed around the league like a hot potato. You should really consider our 7 year offer. We acquired your brother-in-law for essentially nothing, just to help demonstrate this point".

Machado: Update - Manny, do you officially like us?
And to think we could have gotten another year of James McCann for what we spent on the presentations.

Hahn: Holdup, someone get the backup podcaster on the horn. I've got something I want put out to the masses.

Bruuuuuuuuuuuuce! Coming in hot with the damage control.

This is weird. If Tulo can only sign for the minimum why be in a rush to sign? The Yankees must have guaranteed him a specific opportunity.

Senzel/Suarez
I'm fairly confident the Reds wouldn't do that deal. I don't think you can trade Dunning right now with the elbow concerns. The Sox just don't have major league ready talent to interest the Reds unless you want to swap Eloy or Cease. I think Realmuto to the Reds makes alot of sense.

I think the masses would be growing impatient with the rebuild but still pretty much on board this offseason had the front office said "we can't start spending money until more of the young players in our system start to make a positive impact at the major league level, we are not a player or two away yet". We'd be bummed about virtually no one taking a step forward last season but Eloy-Mania would have begun and the fanbase's mood would be relatively stable. Instead, Hahn has told us they are in on Harpchado and how they've been pointing towards this offseason since the start of the rebuild. They repeatedly stated that they wouldn't sign stop-gap types. And they've turned around and added the definition of two stop-gaps and we are starting to feel that we have little to no chance of landing a Harpchado. Hahn went from sitting on a virtual golden throne to fanatics wanting him out-the-door since the winter meetings. This is just bizarre.

Sox interested in Encarnacion per Morosi
I often wondered if Hahn had trade for a superstar in his back pocket in the event he missed out on Harpchado, as I couldn't understand why they were so public with their pursuit.... never could come up with a name though, if this is his plan (and it is a dumb one) I sure hope he doesn't think E5 will appease the fanbase.

Scrambling for what they feel is a big name, just because he is available? Because they took what has to be the most pro-rebuild fanbase in the history of professional sports and somehow managed to ruin that patience and understanding in two months of hot-stove season?
