  1. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 03:04 PM) Really, we're already complaining about no moves being made yet? Complaining that the President of Baseball Ops said he is working on a plan like it is a 5th grade science fair project.
  2. Brad Miller changing uniforms while Kenny and Rick are still in the preliminary stages of their offseason plan....
  3. Any chance of a deal where the Sox send prospects and a bad contract (likely Danks) to the Reds for Todd Frazier and Homer Bailey? Hal McRae (respected former Reds beat writer) reported Dye for Bailey was a done deal back in '08 and we all know that Kenny has a habit of "getting his guy" about 5 years too late. I don't pretend to have any intel on the Homer's progress in his recovery from Tommy John, but I do know he has a very high ceiling. Like "get hot and carry your team through a playoff run" kind of ceiling. If the Sox are able to essentially buy his '16 salary down to zero by dumping a bad contract and maybe even get some cash back, it would essentially turn Bailey's deal into 4/63. I think it would be possible that Cincinnati would even shop Aroldis Chapman if it meant getting out of a bad deal or two (Bruce being the other) and/or acquiring an attractive group of prospects. Obviously, taking on a huge contract like Bailey's coming off injury & consequently surgery is a huge gamble, but I'm not sure the White Sox will be able to go from 76 wins & several huge position player holes to fill, to 90+ wins, without taking some serious risks.
  4. Alexei is gone. Change needed to happen at more than just 3B & maybe one corner OF. Hahn couldn't trot the same lineup out there again next spring and expect different results.
  5. How valuable are our prospects? I've been reading everyone's "plans" for this offseason and almost every post includes shipping off 3-5 of our top 10 prospects for a superstar player (Frazier, Longoria, Arenadolol etc). The first time I read that we/people/whomever are skeptical that Anderson can stick at SS, I was like "Trade him now", but plenty of teams don't even need a SS, and the ones that do ALSO KNOW he might not stick at short. The Sox have as big of a hole as any team in baseball at 2B (and I like Sanchez), and the majority of White Sox Internet Nation are ready to give up on Micah... but then they package him up in pretend trades and expect actual value in return. I don't get it. I'd like to put a realistic, in-depth offseason plan together but I'm not sure I can just throw together "all of the prospects I don't need for this exercise" together and turn that into Todd Frazier.... thoughts?
  6. If Trayce Thompson plays 150 games in CF next season, where does his defense rank amongst the hypothetical 25 everyday center fielders?
  7. I think this team could look very different next year and I'd hate to break it to everyone but if you want to acquire major league position players, you have to give up something in return. There isn't team in baseball that has a messageboard full of fans dying to acquire Frankie Montas, Tyler Danish & Courtney Hawkins.
  8. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 07:05 AM) Both of those guys are worth significantly more than Frazier. I agree, but there are at least a dozen teams who would like to upgrade at 3B and there aren't very many options available. I'm just not sure that a package of "prospects that soxtalk posters don't really care about" is gonna do it if Frazier does become available. The Sox have to outbid every other team, not just make a trade that would appear "fair".
  9. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 11:34 PM) Frazier will cost a couple of mid level prospects at most Can the Sox get Frazier without giving up Quintana or Rodon?
  10. LaRoche's bat is more likely to come back than Melky's defense. I'd trade Melky if the Sox could get even 50% of the money due in return. He is a DH vs RHP and emergency outfielder ONLY going forward. Laroche is obviously worthless, but since we have first right of refusal we might as well give him the shot. If Adam were on another team, and available for nothing, people here would be calling for the Sox to take a flier on him... so it might as well be us. There isn't going to be any perfect fixes for third base this offseason, so whatever the Sox do, I hope it is a Lefty/Righty platoon with only a one season commitment. Cespedes & Heyward both possess and all around game that doesn't become available on the Free Agent market very often. I can't imagine there is money for either of them but if you are going to overpay, they are as good of candidates as there have been or will be for awhile.
  11. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 03:44 PM) Even if Thompson sucks against righties Prior to 2015, Thompson had fairly neutral splits throughout the minors.
  12. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 03:13 PM) I'm just gonna say you're totally wrong here. 50% of the league needs a third baseman and there are none available. Everyone needs pitching but there are plenty of amrs available that only cost money, and several elite arms that cost a pick + money. I really do not see the Sox getting anywhere near the position player they want/need for Quintana this offseason. While I was exaggerating, I honestly feel the Q/Montas for Arenado proposals are 5X as ridiculous as the 4 player one I teased.
  13. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 03:01 PM) So the Rockies would turn down Jose Quintana, Jose Abreu, Carlos Rodon and Tim Anderson for Arenado? Lolno I forgot about Rodon. But they wouldn't trade him for Quintana, Abreu, Johnson & Anderson.
  14. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 02:06 PM) I think the Rockies would seriously consider Montas/Johnson as the pitching portion of a deal for Arenado. Then add Anderson or Micah. Maybe even use Avi if they trade cargo. Unless you are including Sale, there isn't a combination of FOUR players in the ENTIRE White Sox organization that the Rockies would trade Nolan Arenado for.
  15. There is all kinds of free agent pitching available next offseason. Position players (especially C, 3B) are going to be very difficult to acquire.
  16. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Aug 16, 2015 -> 01:15 PM) #StopRick If you think Kenny isn't still in charge you are mistaken. Nothing changed, Kenny makes the decisions, Rick negotiates deals and takes care of day to day roster moves. Hahn just got a raise when other organizations came calling.
  17. 50k per plate appearance. #StopKenny
  18. QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 6, 2015 -> 08:30 PM) of the players you mention, i still have to give beckham credit for holding down the fort, defensively in the first half. for that alone, i was happy he was on the team. Absolutely. I think there is a strong chance that as the season progresses and the money owed to Gordon lessens, that a team grabs him via waivers.
  19. Why would a team have a Manager, Pitching Coach, Hitting Coach & Bench Coach that only speak English?
  20. The biggest thing the White Sox DIDN'T get by holding Samardzija is money. That 4+ million might have come in handy this next offseason. Also, very disappointing that Beckham, Bonifacio, & even LaRoche all performed so terribly in the first half of the season that there wasn't a single team willing to take them for only the remaining money due.
  21. QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 03:27 PM) ok you peaked my interest, now can you explain how ??? unless it is a assumption. What part of my post didn't make it sound like an assumption?
  22. QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 03:16 PM) This move has been in the works for over a year. There should another promotion soon. Not sure if the article Y2Jimmy posted included this (my flight's wifi is terrible and can't load anything), but I have been told it's likely Kirk Champion, the field coordinator, who will also be getting a promotion. If this has indeed been in the works for awhile I'm wrong... But this SCREAMS that Hahn wasn't satisfied with the information he was provided by his scouting dept during the recent trade negotiations.
  23. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 11:47 AM) Like it or not, the Sox are in this thing. If you call a 5% chance of making a one game playoff "in this thing".
  24. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 11:03 AM) The Shark needs to stay in a Sox uniform. LoL Because the Sox swept the last place Indians & took the first game in a series against the last place Red Sox?
