  1. QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 08:56 AM) The entire outfield wall will be a video board that will light up between innings. By 2025 there will be iPads that rise out of the seat backs between innings showing replays and adverts.
  2. The Boers & Bernstein School of Radio (and most of their 670 disciples): Beg for calls >>> Act shocked & annoyed that person who calls a radio show & waits for half hour to talk is an idiot >>> Condescendingly explain why caller is an idiot & assume they are representative of entire fan-base
  3. QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 23, 2016 -> 10:43 AM) it is how one will look at it. the fans has no choice but to make the best of it. My reasoning to be hesitant to give up the pick (I know I gave it away about five posts above lol) is because Hahn paid about 5 million for it (the remaining money due to Shark), and turned down whatever low level prospects were available at the deadline. So I dont think most fans desperately want to keep the pick, it is just that we assume that Hahn will be hesitant to eat crow and surrender the pick.
  4. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 23, 2016 -> 10:07 AM) Not to be a dick, but f*** no. If Cespedes on an open market is worth 3/75, a two year Cargo deal would have to be worth at the absolute very least 50 million. If you view the 13 million due to LaRoche as completely sunk it means the Sox would be acquiring Cargo for 2/24 (he is due 37). I would trade the rights to pay Tim Anderson for 25 million dollars, assuming that Hahn has budget constraints.
  5. Tim Anderson & Adam LaRoche for Carlos Gonzalez. Sign Ian Desmond 3/40. Sign Doug Fister 1/8. Adds 27 million to '16 payroll.
  6. Poor Cespedes is never gonna end up in a hitter's park. I'd also like to throw it out there that I think it is very possible that the Nats are just trying to drive up the price on the Mets, but neither scenario is good news for the Sox.
  7. The Sox were in on OF because the Royals/Tigers were in. Just hope that (possibly) driving up the price was worth the negative effect not getting one will have on the fan base.
  8. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 04:19 PM) Brian Bilek ‏@ChiSoxraBBit 25s25 seconds ago Well I heard back from someone regarding Cespedes and the #WhiteSox are definitely still working on signing him. (1/2) Brian Bilek ‏@ChiSoxraBBit 14s On Cespedes "Talks this week have been dramatic and the terms have been very creative. As of now, options still a sticking point." #WhiteSox You are quoting yourself?
  9. Hahn should have sold this offseason.
  10. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 01:19 PM) raBBit on twitter just now says Fowler has moved into most likely, with Cespedes and Upton now being more difficult possibilities. Seems to really dismiss Upton now. His source is the predicted years & money Upton is going to get.
  11. Markakis? Do better. Also, calling him a professional twice and a pro's-pro is dope. You forgot that he's a lunchpail kind of guy, hardworking, grinder. This team needs to find upward of 20 wins. Adding the epitome of a 'zero upside', 11 million dollar a year player is the last thing the Sox need to do.
  12. For any fans that prefer Gordon to Cespedes solely because Alex bats left handed, you may be pleased to discover Yoenis has reverse splits and fares much better vs right handed pitching.
  13. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 12:52 PM) James Fox ‏@JamesFox917 Seems to me that Cespedes talk is posturing for the #WhiteSox to land Gordon. We shall see. Brian Bilek ‏@ChiSoxraBBit 1m1 minute ago Brian Bilek Retweeted James Fox This. The timing of nat'l leaks is important. Sox are interested in Cespedes but Gordon is priority #1 this week. I disagree. I'm of the belief that the Sox will not give up a pick to sign a free agent and that the Gordon interest was attempting to drive up his price.
  14. If you can move LaRoche in the deal for a player (Like Cargo), that will eat up a good chunk of the money due in '16 to the returning Outfielder. But I'd hate to see what you'd have to pair with Adam to make a deal like that worthwhile for the other team.
  15. I throw this out there every so often, but my kids (now 6 & 4) LOVE Hawk. Hell, I'd say 50% of their takeaway from the game of baseball itself are Hawkisms. As a baseball fan he really wears on me though. I'd support a three man booth where Hawk served as more of a cheerleader than a color guy. I'd keep him around forever if he could cut out his sabermetric hot taeks and Yaz stories. I'd allow Hawk to discuss batting gloves once per week, but only for one minute. Just give Stone a taser to poke him with anytime he slips back into crazy mode.
  16. Would the Rockies deal Reyes & Cargo for LaRoche & any one player not on the active roster, not named Anderson or Fulmer? Any two players? Reyes remaining $ is 2/46 (includes 4mil buyout in 18) Gonzalez remaining $ is 2/37. Both would have a strong chance to bring back a compensation assuming they walk after '17. While hard to gauge, Gonzalez on the open market at age 30 would likely sign a two year deal greater than 37mil and if you take LaRoche's money off Reyes' deal I think (2/33) is close to what he might fetch for 2 years. It is an interesting deal for me because COL is one of the only places that seemingly has room for LaRoche (not sure this matters) and while no one is overly bullish on Reyes right at this moment, I think one could realistically expect him to be around 5 wins better than anyone on the Sox current roster at SS over the next two years.
  17. Am I the only person that thinks if you trade one pitcher you should try and move both of them?
  18. I would say this dramatically lowers the chances that the Sox deal Sale, and slightly lowers the the chances that they deal Quintana. You don't sign two veteran catchers with limited upside to one year deals if you are trying to rebuild.
  19. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 01:12 PM) Looks like we MIGHT be able to go from 3rd worst offense in all of baseball to about...6th worst. I appreciate that you kept it realistic and not trying to bash you, but if that's what the FO decides to do this offseason we might as well start trading guys to start the rebuild now. I don't see the above being any more than an 80 win team. This is why I think Hahn is likely to blow this thing up. Aggressive but realistic moves just can't put this roster anywhere close to contention unless Mekly & LaRoche somehow miraculously get back to career averages.
  20. Below average defender on the wrong side of 30? No thanks.
  21. I've seen enough of Avi's defense for me to think that his bat would have to become elite for him to ever be a great player. I'll put those chances at less than 5%. While I hate selling low, if Garcia has any remaining value, I support trading him.
  22. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 18, 2015 -> 10:21 AM) Who do you give up for Frazier, Bruce, Phillips, Bailey and Chapman? lol Can I include players on the Bulls?
  23. Boy could the White Sox use the players the Reds are rumored to be shopping. Frazier, Phillips, Bruce. I'd like to roll the dice on Homer Bailey & who wouldn't love to have Aroldis Chapman? Eaton Phillips Abreu Frazier LaRoche/Melky Bruce/Avi Melky/Thompson Flowers Saladino/Sanchez Sale Quintana Bailey Rodon Whomever is left after the Reds raid the cupboard Chapman Robertson Duke Petricka Jones Putnam Jennings This would ONLY add about 60+ million to the '16 payroll & likely wipe out the farm system lol. (I would hope the Sox could shed Danks &/or some $ by taking on Bailey & Bruce). Still a fairly poor defensive team. Best rotation in AL. Rival KC for best bullpen. Yes, I know Jay Bruce has been awful for two seasons. In this fantasyland I assume that taking him on is a requirement to being able to afford Frazier/Chapman. Unless the Sox can pull off something ridiculous like this, I don't see what the point of trying to compete next season.
