The Sox original name was the White Stockings. I heard they used this name because it was also the Cubs original name and the Sox did it sort of as a joke on the Cubs or something. Of course, after a few years though they changed it to the Sox. I don't know why it is spelled Sox though, sorry. Maybe it's just early 1900s slang.

Illinois over Duke

Yeah, bin Laden must be so scared of Bush. If Bush gets reelected he's a goner. After all it's been 2 and a half years and all we have to show for it is that we "almost" got him. Meanwhile, we went into Iraq, I'm still not sure what the exact reason was for this Bush changed it so many times. Was it WMDs? Nope, there weren't any of those. Was it liberating the people? They don't seem to happy with our presence over there. Was it that Saddam Hussein? Yeah, that evil man who had his hands tied behind his back for the last ten years, meanwhile we support people who have done just as bad if not worse things than Hussein. As all of this is happening Osama is just chillin' who knows where it's been so long. He must be just shaking in his boots thinking of a Bush reelection.

Obvious one is 9/11, I was at school just before 1st period when a friend told me, the details were still sketchy. I think it was 3rd period in Spanish class when I realized exactly what had happened because I was reading about it all online. Other ones are... '96 Atlanta Olympics bombing-mom woke me up and told me the news. Columbine-got home from school and it was all over the tv. Kurt Cobain's death-brother told me when i got home from school. On a more positive note... 2000 Sox Division Championship-watching the game and postgame on tv and the celebration...after the loss to the twins. 2001 Bears clinched playoffs(not sure if it was division title or not)-at the game at old Soldier Field when they beat the Bucs. 2001 Illinois football Big Ten Championship-at the game on Thanksgiving when they beat Northwestern. Sox sign Everett and Alomar-at Preview here at Illinois State University.

After Round 2 I'm not doing so well, but I doubt that many are. Only got 7 Sweet 16 teams right. 3 of my Elite 8 teams are out. 2 of my Final 4 teams are out. 1 of my teams I had in the Championship is out. But I still have Oklahoma St. for my National Champ. Oh well. All will be forgotten if the Illini can represent the Big Ten well. ILL

C'mon Utah, I've got ya in the sweet 16. First time I've seen every game at halftime at the same time.

Finally, Illinois making some baskets and up 12 w/ a minute to go in the first half.

12-4 Michigan St. (had going to the elite 8) Charlotte (had losing next round) Arizona (had losing next round) SIU (had losing next round) I gotta few upsets today though.

I had the Spartans in the elite 8. Meanwhile, Air Force is up 5 at half over UNC who only has 23 points.

Yeah, I find myself cheering for the underdogs too even if I pick against them. I just can't get myself to cheer for the ACC.

Does it also mean that if you kick ass in ST that you'll dominate during the year too? Cause Aaron Rowand is my early favorite to win the batting title.

I'm 2-2 now. I'm screwed if Syracuse loses. I got them in the Final Four. Meanwhile, VCU is giving Wake Forest a game.

You guys are crazy playing these games right in the middle of prime ncaa tournament watching.

I voted NCAA Tournament. I'm surprised college football doesn't have any votes. That would have to be my second favorite. Watching bowl games all day on new year's day is great. I guess it's cause of all of the crap bowl games that are before then. And the fact that there's no playoff. If college football incorporated its bowls into a playoff it'd be 100 times better than it is now. Instead it just adds another bowl to the BCS to water it down even more. I still don't think it would touch March Madness though.

I'm gonna go with Oklahoma St. as my favorite. I think most people will probably go with either Kentucky, Oklahoma St., or Duke.

I've been a Singleton fan since I saw him hit for the cycle against KC back in '99. I'd love to see him back with the Sox.
