QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 8, 2012 -> 12:57 PM) I hope it's working, but I'm skeptical about the advance sales so far. Seems like the same "best seats" are available on the 14 game plan as were available last week. I think some 14 game plan holders upgraded to 27 game plans, as the cost increase is not that great. I know there were several 7 and 14 game plans holders that decided to go up a size based off the lower prices and the playoff refunds they had in their accounts. ALSO, it looks like they are holding more seats for the 27/81 game plans than they did in years past. You can actually see what seats are available on the ticketmanager site

I got an email last night promoting the 7 game pack as low as $56. They are tryin HARD. And i think it's working.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 8, 2012 -> 11:01 AM) If the renewal rate is that high so far, they will be able to talk a few of the non renewals up until now into renewing, and will bring some new accounts in. It is almost guaranteed right now they won't have their 7th straight season of attendance decline, and that is before they really complete their roster. You know one way one another, the new GM is going to put his stamp on this team which will mean a big name or 2. That will sell tickets. The sunday special and the corner sections with the flat pricing will easily push them back into 2 million. Remember theywere ONLY 35k below the 2011 number.
-
QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Dec 8, 2012 -> 09:03 AM) I would think that's largely due to the ticket policy for the postseason. Whatever the reason is, it's great news. I knew plenty of people that did NOT buy playoff tix with their st packages.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 7, 2012 -> 06:21 PM) Season ticket renewals right now over 90%. Last year they were 50%. Where did u hear this?
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 08:58 PM) But they'll get something like an extra $75 million from the new national baseball network contract. Ticket revenues are sliding. Used to be 50% or more of a team's revenue stream, now it's down in the 20-25% range for a number of organizations, and continuing to descend. i think most teams have simply reached the "f*** it, i'll watch it on tv" price point. clearly the sox saw that the last few years and have adjusted prices. even the yankees are not immune to this.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 01:28 PM) The other thing you have is when people see the park relatively full on television, they are far more likely to buy tickets. A good percentage of the population are sheep.exactly. you need to build the experience up.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 09:58 AM) When does the Sox local TV deal expire?I think in 2019 for CSN. But they also have an equity stake in that channel.
-
As for the Sox, it clearly looks like the new ticket prices reflect that the Sox make more money off tv now than tickets. But an empty ballpark hurts the brand and future sales. Keep the park close to full, and the long term health of the team is solid.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 02:09 AM) Royals are definitely in this category as well, with a few exceptions (the Gil Meche contract)...under new ownership, the Padres fit this mold, too, although they've committed more money to guys like Quentin than expected recently. You gotta give the padres a lil more time. New ownership groups typically cleanhouse and then makes money runs. Also, we'll see what happens when their new tv deal(which pays close to what the sox get from csn) as well as the new mlb tv money kicks in. If they stay cheap, then f*** them.
-
QUOTE (spiderman @ Nov 27, 2012 -> 09:17 PM) How much money, realistically, do the White Sox have to play with? Aren't they at about 90 million already with around 8 guys? If they keep their payroll in the low 100's, that doesn't leave much room for resigning Youk/AJ without cutting elsewhere, not to mention, trying to improve the team.It depends on how successful their new ticketing policies work. I think if Kenny and Jerry feel the new ticket movies will increase revenue, then I think you'll see the payroll inch up. The good thing is there is a lot of unused 2012 playoff money sitting in ticketholder accounts(event eh 7 game plan buyers!) so I expect sales to be brisk enough to give Hahn cash to work with. That said, I think they'll go cheap at 3b, and possibly sign AJ.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Nov 28, 2012 -> 09:56 PM) No way, did you get parking passes as well? I didnt, as for some reason the ticketmaster system wanted to sell me parking at $19 a game. And i picked 13 sundays. Whywould i want to pay almost double of the box office price?
-
QUOTE (salty99 @ Nov 28, 2012 -> 02:02 PM) This may be answered elsewhere, but I take it half price Mondays are gone?they basically put 1/2 price mondays on sundays now. but if you sit in the corner sections, the price to attend a game on monday didnt go up.

The sale is THIS SATURDAY!

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 28, 2012 -> 08:24 AM) I understand that, but the Sox should know what games Fox is picking up by now. The Blue Jays know. Maybe they can give them a call.all schedule times are subject to change. remember remember the 25th of september? Fox, ESPN, and TBS all have the authority to change game times. And they can do it THROUGHOUT the season. Fox made the 9/29 game a 3:05 affair less than 2 weeks before. The sox were selling tickets for that game almost a year in advance with a 6:10 start time and fireworks.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 28, 2012 -> 05:21 AM) Pretty strange they are selling tickets yet don't post game times. The 27 and 81 game plans are sold with no game times either.
-
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 28, 2012 -> 06:56 AM) Except for Saturdays, game times are pretty easy to predict. Not anymore. Fox has been taking more Saturday nights, thus forcing the sox to have more 1:05 starts.
-
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Nov 27, 2012 -> 11:14 PM) So they way this works, there is not a set price, you just put 14 games together + parking to see how much the individual pick 14 plan is going to run you? Basically. You can have lower deck for one game and upper deck the next
-
QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Nov 27, 2012 -> 06:27 AM) thats a great deal. and what are playoff tickets?really?

http://www.whitesox.com/pick14 Buyers get 2 games per month, PLUS Opening Day and one game of the Cubs/Sox series. The Sunday Family Day pricing applies to this plan, so you can get Upper Corners for $5 per Sunday or Lower Corners for $20. The price chart in the link suggests that Weekend gaems will have a higher price than weekdays, with Saturday being typically higher than either Friday or Sunday. They got rid of the "premiere pricing" name, but Yankees and Red Sox games are still priced higher than the Royals or Astros. Sox point out that Playoff tickets are NOT GUARANTEED, but 14 and 7 game plans did get ALDS tix in 2012.

QUOTE (Joxer_Daly @ Nov 22, 2012 -> 05:32 AM) I'm almost 100% decided on subscribing to mlb.com for next season, even though I'll miss a load of the mid-week games, so I was thinking more if they would have them or not. Should've said. I suppose they'll have a lot or all of them? Cool that whitesox.com have a good number of webcasts. mlb.tv has no blackouts on spring games. if a team puts a st game on tv, then it's on mlb.tv -
QUOTE (My_Sox_Summer @ Nov 20, 2012 -> 03:43 PM) That is worded kinda strange, last sale was only in the area that they do the "all you can eat and drink" pre-game. Now they say they will have the clubhouses open with items for sale in there? Or are they talking about taking a tour of the clubhouses for $? In any case, I plan on being there. The event you're referring to is the "Garage Sale". This is similar but in the clubhouses.
