White Sox host Sixth Annual Holiday Clubhouse Sale at U.S. Cellular Field Organization Also Holding Blood Drive to Help to Help Those Affected by Superstorm Sandy This holiday season, the Chicago White Sox again will offer fans unique access to the home and visitors' clubhouses at U.S. Cellular Field during the annual "Holiday Clubhouse Sale" on Saturday, December 1. During this holiday sale, game-used equipment, game-worn jerseys, autographed memorabilia and White Sox collectibles all will be available for purchase in the home and away clubhouses, areas rarely open to the public. The Holiday Clubhouse Sale takes place on Saturday, December 1 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Fans planning to attend the clubhouse sale should park their vehicles in Lot D/E and enter U.S. Cellular Field through Gate 3. The White Sox also are partnering with the American Red Cross in hosting a blood drive during the time of the Clubhouse Sale. The blood collected will help those affected by Superstorm Sandy and address the blood donor shortage faced every year during the holiday months. Chicago Sports Depot also will be having a special sale on December 1, where everything in the store is 25 percent off (excluding autographed merchandise and clearance items). Fans who spend $100 at the Depot also receive a complimentary Southpaw holiday ornament. Proceeds from the Clubhouse Sale go to Chicago White Sox Charities, which provides annual financial, in-kind and emotional support to hundreds of Chicago-based organizations, including those leading the fight against cancer or dedicated to improving the lives of Chicago's youth through education, health and wellness programs, and those offering support to children and families in crises. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...ws&c_id=cws

Sox to open Spring Training camp on 12 Feb
ewokpelts replied to chisoxfan09's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Two lil points to consider: 1. March 29 and 30, the Sox will play TWO games in MILWAUKEE against the Brewers. Last time the Sox and Brewers met like this, it was ...get this...2005. Also, Sox season ticket holders did get free tickets for these games. 2. If you are thinking about heading out to Arizona for ST, Camelback Ranch has an attractive offer. Buy 3 or more Sox home game in Arizona(they sell a 3+ game plan), and you will receive FOUR FREE TICKETS to the Sox/Royals game at the Cell on April 3 or 4. info at: http://web.camelbackranchbaseball.com/visi...s.jsp#3gameplan -
Marlins trade Buehrle, Josh Johnson, Reyes plus others to Blue Jays

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Nov 17, 2012 -> 09:31 AM) Am I the only one that thinks this is a good move for Florida? Those contracts were abysmal and Florida gets talent. If they were bad deals, then the marlins should have never signed them to those deals LAST YEAR. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 01:53 PM) Where are the people rebutting their stance that the Sox would rather have 20,000 people at the old, inflated prices and expensive parking than consistently drawing more with 10 dollar parking on Sundays and much cheaper seating options? They're looking to buy these sunday tix.
-
QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 01:49 PM) Which is all good by me. Anything that brings more people to the park is good by me, even if (all things being equal) it costs me a few bucks more on Sunday. Which it will. /beating dead horse. Again. You can go for $5 each. That's a LOT less than what you paid last year.
-
QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 01:54 PM) Wasn't the $1 upper reserved only? Using my playoff deposit to get 4 tickets to every Suunday game with parking. Will tailgate with family. Great deal. No. $1 tix were all non-premium seating areas. But purchased day of game.

QUOTE (YASNY @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 12:58 PM) Good point. But they did actually win the pennant.again, dosent mean s*** when looking at mvp voting.
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 01:39 PM) I'm sure one can find multiple specific cases where 2013 may actually cost a little more than 2012 for a game... but for MOST people, MOST group sizes, in MOST sections on MOST days... 2013 will be cheaper.AND it's every sunday. Kids' Days in 2012 were limited to 5 dates.
-
QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 01:09 PM) But if you take the train (as I have done) parking is moot, and no, you didn't have to match each kid with a paid adult. I know because i have done this for years. Again, for me it worked out cheaper under the old system. Why is that so controversial? actually, the new system allows you to sit in BETTER seats at the $15 rate. oh, and they have, get this, even cheaper tickets. you can take the kids for $15 total if you choose to sit upstairs. the 2012 pricing would have you in the upper level on kids day at $20 for 3 tickets.

QUOTE (YASNY @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 12:37 PM) Or ... Why should Cabrera be reward for playing for the team that won the pennant. The MVP votes are cast BEFORE the postseason starts. The Tigers could have been swept in the ALDS and Cabrera still gets the MVP.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 11:16 AM) Except where your team finishes has almost always been a factor in the discussion. It is a huge deal when the person isn't on a first place team.1987 Andrew Dawson and 2002 Alex Rodriguez
-
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 08:47 AM) He's not working for the other team. He was fired. He's just contractually obligated to be paid, nothing more.He was "releived of his duties". The Marlins are on the hook because he's still an employee. He just has no job to do there.
-
QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 09:45 AM) I know Barbie once said, "Math is hard," but . . . 2012 "Kids Day" Sunday bleacher cost 7/8/12 (me and 2 kids) $38 + $1 + $1 = $ 40 2013 Family Sunday bleacher cost (me and 2 kids) $15 + $15 + $15 = $45 $40 of course, the $15 price also applies to sections that were as high as $44 last year. Sec 154 was lower box in 2012. It's now Lower Corner in 2013.

Marlins trade Buehrle, Josh Johnson, Reyes plus others to Blue Jays

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 07:42 PM) Honestly, if money wasn't a factor I would take a Johnson/Reyes/Buehrle deal if we had the prospects for it.johnson and reyes have injury history, and the reyes contract is brütal. Buehrle unfortunately is not a good fit anymore as the Sox already have 2 lefties. -
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 06:51 AM) If his new job pays less than his Marlins job, wouldn't the Marlins still have to pay the difference? No. Because he's contractually bound to work for the Marlins. You cannot work for two teams.

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 09:42 PM) I just trying to say if he doesn't meet those guys there's a chance he's never put in the position to do drugs. He didnt have a problem until he met those guys at the parlor. Yes he should have had the will power to say no but he was drunk and put in that situation and made the poor decision in saying yes and then he was balls deep in the stuff. I'm not arguing that he didnt make the wrong decision Im saying IN MY OPINION it probably doesnt happen if hes with the right people. Didn't you say he got injured in a car wreck with his parents? So, it's his parents' fault he descended into drugs and alcohol. If he wasn't injured from the car wreck, he'd have been playing ball instead of shooting heroin! -
QUOTE (SAVVY18 @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 07:52 AM) This will definitely get us to make the 2 hour drive on Sundays more often. Can't wait!!! Like ewok said, I can now buy them in advance, knowing where we'll all be sitting. HUGE thing. I should point out something not many people do. Buy your parking in advance when you get your tickets. Especially now that the Sunday games have the $10 parking. I predict that the lots will be beyond capacity on Sundays next year.
-
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 06:53 AM) I know I've always chosen Saturday games over Sunday and this could convince me to switch. They really hit a home run with this. Even if they had "normal" prices but just $10 parking would have been a major story.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 06:04 PM) It's actually not a better deal if you do the math... Sec 154 was Lower Box in 2012. That section, without dynamic pricing, was $44 on a Sunday game. It'll be $15 on a Sunday in 2013. If I were to take my son to a game in 2012 on Kids' Day in that section, It would have cost me $45. In 2013? $30 Also you need to factor that Kids' Day hurt people who already have tickets, either in a season ticket package, or through other means. Because Kids' tickets could only be purchased DAY OF GAME at the $1 rate. And while the box office allowed you to buy kids tix as long as you showed the pre-purchased adult tix, you ran the risk of not having the kids' seats close to your section. And for the lower deck, that means your kids may get kicked out of the section because he or she is sitting in someone else's seat. This move allows families to buy tix at the discounted rate IN ADVANCE. Aside from getting families(or value conscious fans) to plan to attend more games, thsi also helps the sox determine how many vendors to bring in for those games. With Kids' day being a walkup promotion, the sox had to guess the attendance in order to determine how many vendors to have at the game. If you assume too low, you have the potential for long lines and dissatisfied customers. I applaud the Sox for this. And I hope they sell out every sunday game now.

QUOTE (OsweGo-Go Sox @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 07:40 PM) 1917 and 1919!True. I was thinking in the era of expanded playoffs, but your point is more than valid.
-
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 07:08 PM) BlueJays should just hire Ozzie, the Marlins are paying for it anyway. Ozzie only gets paid IF he sits on his ass. If he takes another job from any of the 29 other clubs, the marlins contract is voided.

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Nov 14, 2012 -> 04:44 PM) Not that anyone cares... I got the Hamilton book back from my friend who struggled with a pain pill addiction, and he says it really helped me out. I decided to read it again so I can shed some light on his addiction....Basically blame Carl Crawford and Tampas front office for not letting him continue to be a mommas boy. Through his first 2 years of pro ball his mom and dad still followed him everywhere and The Rays didn't like that. He was then alone and at the time injured. He became addicted to tattoos after seeing Carl Crawfords tats. Josh told Carl his parents wouldn't like him getting one to which Carl told him youre an adult now, so Josh went ahead and got one...then 6...then when he got hurt, he spent hours at the tattoo parlor and made friends with the guy who ran the place. These tattoo guys we're trouble and got him addicted to heroin and other hard drugs.... If they Rays allowed him to be a mommas boy he would probably be in the conversation of being the greatest of all time....now he's just a walking punchline because of his past despite being drug free for 7 years....Sad, I respect the hell outta the guy for putting the past behind him and getting back in playing shape and still living up to his potential. I've never had an official Sox jersey but if the Sox were somehow to get him I'd be the first man in line for that jersey. . -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 04:06 PM) Why would he come out and condemn himself like that? Did Barry Bonds come out and say "I used steroids" ?actually, the day after the photos came out he held a press conference and admitted to it all. -

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 03:12 PM) There's still been no truth to him ask for coke...just read an article on ESPN that said he's still being drug tested 3 times a week. If he never walked into that specific tattoo parlor and made friends with those drug addicts there is no guarantee what so ever that "He would have been a drug addict no matter what". Once again, his book is not blaming these guys, his book is telling the series of events that lead to it. I'm the one saying if he never walked into that tattoo parlor we wouldnt be having this conversation. while he may not have used any drugs on his benders, him asking around for it implies that he WANTED to use the drugs. and let's not forget "family man" slobbering all over women that were not his wife and younger than said wife. as for the tattoos, i thought we all agreed it's carl crawford's fault?
