  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 20, 2012 -> 12:11 PM) The seminars and Q&A sessions are my favorite part of Soxfest. Only reason why i go actually.
  2. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Dec 19, 2012 -> 11:17 PM) So funny. I know Ryan. His kids go to school with mine. Anyway, the problem isn't so much at the upper age levels. The problem is at T-Ball where tradition has each team named after a major league team. It really is lame to make those kids change team names now, and the Sox/OP should have made some exception to just have a patch or something. Even as a Sox fan, it annoys me. Plus, it is not like they are going to use the money saved for anything good. The fields are lousy in Oak Park and have been for a long time. The Sox should have sponsored the fields and cleaned them up good. That would have made a difference. The Sox, as essentially a mega sponsor of the league, have the right to dictate terms. It's no different than if Chico's Bail Bonds wanted the teams to be named after them. I played on t-ball teams where we only had a park district tshirt. No names or anything...
  3. QUOTE (Doc Edwards Shot @ Dec 19, 2012 -> 02:06 PM) I'm glad that the Sox didn't pick up Youk's $13 million option. I didn't really think they would, but... $13 million for one season should only be spent on All-Star caliber players rather than overrated, declining guys with .225 BAs who don't play good defense and get injured on a regular basis. I totally prefer getting Keppinger over keeping Youkilis around. I doubt they ever were going to, even if Youk had a better end of the season. Boston gave them enough to cover the buyout.
  4. QUOTE (SAVVY18 @ Dec 19, 2012 -> 09:33 PM) I just checked ticketbastard and they don't have any Soxfest tickets for sale. I wanted to take my 12yo daughter one day, but I'm not paying that much for a hotel stay etc. They wont go on sale until a few weeks before soxfest.
  5. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 19, 2012 -> 06:42 PM) Well this isn't true. The Tigers have money to spend because of their rich owner. They actually receive money from MLB's revenue-sharing program. Bs on the revenue sharing. All the tigers get is their slice of the internet,tv, and merchandise money. Same size slice that the sox got. Tigers have drawn well since 2006. And they have a decent tv deal. Hell, the tigers gave GM the centerield ad space in 2009 for FREE when GM was in the dumps. If they were on revenue sharing i doubt they would have done that.
  6. AJ/Fisk is an apt comparison. Both were anchors for the team a long time, and management has sought to replace/supplement both over that tenure.
  7. Prepare for LOTS of lines. One item per player per day. It's a wristband system, so you need to be at Stage X at a certain time to get player Y's wristband. Guys like Konerko only sign once, even though they are there the whole weekend. The Sox/Chicago Sports Depot will have stuff for sale, as well as independent sellers. PLENTY of pictures/cards/balls/bats as well as the holders for them. Some dealers will also have autographed stuff for sale. The hotel deal is...ok. Expensive, but there are some perks. The Premium VIP upgrade is pricey, but there are a lot of perks with it. If you're going for the first time, I recommend you just buy the 2 day pass through ticketmaster. There are also a lot of free crap handed out, but you gotta know where to look. The Sox twitter account (@whitesox) will have offers and giveaways, and I suspect Night Train Veeck ( @veeckasinwreck) will as well.
  8. Since when do we pay attention to Phil Rogers?
  9. QUOTE (Lamar Johnson 23 @ Dec 19, 2012 -> 09:49 AM) IMO a 1 year/$4 million offer to AJ is insulting, and sends a bad message as to how some players are "taken care of" by ownership.his last sox contract was 2 years for $8 million. That's $4million a year.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 19, 2012 -> 08:07 AM) Why do so many people expect something for nothing? If I ran a little league, and the sox offered me free uniforms, I'd take it in a heart beat. I'd do the same if it was the cubs. The financial windfall that represents is too great to ignore simply because I dont like the team offering it.
  11. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Dec 15, 2012 -> 05:44 PM) It's a shame the Sox couldn't have taken a run at Hamilton. I know it doesn't make a lot of sense financially given the tight purse strings of Reinsdorf, but what a splash he would've been. He's the kind of player that puts fans in the seats, not just at home but on the road too.Angels signed Pujols last year to a longer and more lucrative deal, and the attendance in Anaheim did not go up. It went DOWN. Hamilton is NOT a "fannies in seats guy". If Albert Pujols, a legit HOFer in waiting, cant bring in the fans, then why would a drug addict already on the decline do it for fans?
  12. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Dec 13, 2012 -> 03:13 PM) That is what I am doing. If you dont have someone, contact Colin in "new business": Colin Kibler│Chicago White Sox │P: 312.674.5355 │E: [email protected]

Order yours tomorrow at 11 a.m.! call a ticket rep to get better seats and no fees.
  14. I wouldnt trade for him. Maybe sign him to a utility role for cheap.
  15. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 10, 2012 -> 02:55 PM) No worries, I originally wanted the Pick 14 plan but with my work schedule and pricing for the seats I like (outfield) I just can't commit to something like that right now. Pick7 for all the must see games plus whatever falls in my hands during the season will have to do. Wy not do the holiday packs? That way you dont have to pick the games in advance....
  16. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Dec 10, 2012 -> 04:51 PM) At what point does the price of game tickets start to get out of reach of the average fan? Cost are aways going higher and thus so does ticket prices so clubs can recover their costs. For the sox that already happened.
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 10, 2012 -> 09:30 AM) No. The Sox sent out playoff ticket invoices in 2011 and 2012, since they were in theoretical contention both times. Still had to pay for playoff tickets to keep your spot, both years. Some of it may be what others said earlier, the less die-hard crowd may have been bigger the year before. But I doubt it was THAT much so. 90%+ vs 50%+ is a huge difference. And that doesn't include all the new plans people are buying. I'm starting to think the season ticket base may actually grow a fair amount for 2013. I think the lowering of ticket prices is working. sox sent invoices out in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012. all those years they failed to make the postseason. and sth renewals kept dropping in 2010, 2011 and 2012. the 2013 renewal rate is larger. I think the STH feel confident in management(on field and in the front office) that 2013 will be a "good" year.
  18. QUOTE (Joxer_Daly @ Dec 9, 2012 -> 05:13 PM) I must take the time to have a good look through your blog. I looked in on this early on, but then it just kind of passed me by. Well done. Having never been, I'm very jealous. Great work. the fun part was that most of the games were bought at the box office with various deal or coupons. he hit pretty much all the dynamic deals in the upper level last year. this quest is easier now with $7 tix for virtually all games
  19. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 9, 2012 -> 05:35 PM) Can you get the opening game with the Pick7 plan? You were able to do it last year, so i assume you can. with a pack "starting" at $56, that's 6 games in the upper corner for $5 each, and one opening day(assuming same price as pick 14 plan) in upper corner for $26.
  20. Looks like you can hit more than 50 games for $500 next year. The upper corners are being sold as season ticket packages as low as $191 for 27 games!
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 28, 2012 -> 03:03 PM) When is Albert Belle coming? Ask Steff
  22. The Pick7 plan will be as low as $56.
  23. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 8, 2012 -> 01:09 PM) do we know the trends of white sox attendance vs. league at large? http://espn.com/mlb/attendance
