If my interest is in the on-field events, the TV is far superior. If I want to go "do something," showing up at a game is an excellent option. In fact, If I lived in another city, I'd probably still go to 3-5 games per year to see whichever team was there, no matter how little interest I had in that team. Secondly (given everything I just said above), the price of tickets being tied to the quality of the team makes no sense to me, personally. When I think about it, the price of tickets needs to be competitive with other types of things I can choose if I want to go and "do something." Because the ballpark experience is the entire draw, it seems silly for me to expect to pay less when the team isn't good or to be content paying more when they ARE good. So, on a macro level, this makes the common argument of "well they need to maintain a certain level of competitiveness or the fans will stop going to games altogether" kind of a ridiculous one, in my mind. To me, the experience doesn't change enough to cause my behavior to shift with winning percentage. In fact, if the teamsustained enough failure to lower my overall interest, it would more likely affect how much I watched them on TV than it wouild affect how often I attended games. Now, all of this would be different is we couldn't watch the games on TV. If you had to go to the park in order to stay on top of everything, like I suppose you used to, this is all different. So I'm wondering if our atitudes as fans are sort of "behind the curve" when compared to our actual behaviors. Anyway, this is all totally from my perspective. I can see how a more casual fan than a typical Soxtalk poster or even just a person who gets different things out of the ballpark/TV viewing experience may feel differently, but it seems there's some unresolvable dissonance in how we've been viewing these things and I wanted to see how everyone would respond to the stuff above. Thoughts? This is exactly what the sox have been looking at the last year or so. and a reason why prices have normalized over the offseason.

Its a real shame they only have a handful of games on csn or wgn. Remember the 05-06 seasons where you had 15-20 st games on tv? And this reductionmakes less sense now that mlb networks will simulcast as many spring games as possible, thus the sox are forgoing free advertising on a national level.

The irony of a Cubs hotel is that the Cubs will be helping to pay for Sox park.

That said, if it is indeed real, then 25K is not a bad price. they supposedly cost 40k a ring t make, but i doubt that, as Jerry had 400+ rings made as well as pendants for wives and girlfriends. i suspect for that big of an order, jostens gave them a nice discount....

if ozzie didn't s*** on and then burn his bridges on the way out of the sox, i could see him getting his number retired/statue(those things pretty much come together now). but i suspect as long as kenny's here, that wont happen. as for aj, he's borderline # retirement. i think buehrle and bonerko will get their statues sooner than later.
