  1. I see the sox giving him a minor league deal, if only to help with his medical bills. Jerry has made comments in the past about being worried about bobby and his health/personal issues. Plus, he's a big reason why there is a WS trophy in the reception area at the cell.
  2. QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 04:58 PM) What is it the Sox have done that the Cubs haven't? I think Rick is doing a fine job and all, but I'm not sure what the Cubs have to do with anything. They're going about their rebuild differently, and in my opinion, it's going pretty well. The great theo gave the YANKEES $18 million For soriano's 2014 season for a fourth round pitcher. I repeat: the FREAKING YANKEES got salary relief. Even though they were) and still are) desperate for offense. Not. A. Good. Rebuild. At. All. Rick ate $1 million for a Garcia in the rios deal. HUGE difference.
  3. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 12:31 PM) Cutting 15 million off our spending should never be considered a good thing but it's understandable.Sox shed 28 million simply by trading peavy and rios. we've already been cutting payroll.
  4. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 11:14 AM) Congratuations. Drop the subject. Surely I'm not the only one you said this to in regards to this subject?
  5. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 10:36 AM) Are you still talking? Are you still exercising in groupthink?
  6. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 10:35 AM) Good way to look at it because the junior medical staff never works with or sees with players from the other teams. They don't discuss other players either. I hope your friend spent alot of time in the clubhouse working with players on a daily basis. Pick your sources as you see fit. It's funny, but my guy said almost the exact same thing as Dunn and Beckham. Last I checked, those guys ARE in the clubhouse. You are just some internet tough guy that USED to work with a team. And you have a lot of people here kissing your balls. I never met AJ, so I will never know the truth. But I do take my friend's word for it. He knew AJ for his entire stay with the team.
  7. Ok, I asked someone I know that has dealt with aj while he was on the team. His reply. "Not an asshole but he had his moments" I'll take that over some guy who worked for teams that aj never played for.
  8. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 10:15 PM) If you're questioning ptatc, you've not been paying attention for however long you've been on this site. He must be a big deal then. Like Steff?
  9. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 05:26 PM) I define it as a guy who goes out of his way to be mean or belittle people, especially the ancillary non-baseball people around people like the clubhouse people and the medical staff. Obviously, I'm sensitive to the medical staff who work their a** off to keep these guys on the field. He's not like Bonds who is in a different a** class but would ignore most people. AJ would treat people poorly not necessarily other players, although he did that too, but most commonly the others around. This is what I call a bad person. He is not the only one by far, I've seen worse than him but he is in the team picture. And who the f*** are you? Are you a sox employee? Or just someone who claims to know behind the scenes info?t
  10. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 03:23 PM) This would be about the absolute worst, worst, worst thing you could do if you are going to trade Chris Sale. You need to load up on prospects if you trade him. Adam Dunn is a free agent after this year and John Danks is still a good pitcher who was in his first year back from injury. What are you going to spend that money on anyways? Maybe you can do that with Santiago or Quintana and get away with it, but it's just not smart to do with Sale. No team would add that much dead weight even for sale. Hence why I said" that'll shut most teams up"
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 03:22 PM) Why? If he goes to a team people actually care about, those likely forged signatures will be worth more. Two things: 1. If these are forgeries, then someone at panini is going to jail, as these are licensed and distributed by a major card manufacturer. And even just one fake will cripple the card industry. (I deal in certified autos only) 2. There won't be much of a market for a WHITE SOX sale card in chixago is he becomes a stud for Bos/nyy/lad or any other team.
  12. I suspect Hahn will ask any team wanting sale to pick up Danks and Dunn. That'll shut up most teams.
  13. Speaking as someone who has been loading up in his autograph cards on ebay, I hope the sox don't trade him
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 09:03 AM) *Only IF #12 is not available... Like that makes him a selfish dick? #12 is his normal number. Why wouldn't he want it? But he's also deferring to another veteran, and someone who his new team would like to keep. And on top of that, he's decided to honor his FRIEND if his normal number is not available.
  15. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 7, 2013 -> 07:23 PM) He knows nothing about being a good teammate. Everything else you said is true. He knows the game and is an outstanding player. It's not a shock that he left Texas. He will not be in Boston long either. Funny, but I heard nothing but good things from his teammates in Texas about him. ESPECIALLY during the Darvish perfect game incident
  16. QUOTE (lord chas @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 08:15 PM) anything reasonably priced like tshirts or bobbleheads offered? The holiday sale is a mixed bag. Not quite the massive garage sales, but plenty of sox "junk" put up for sale. Bobbles, other giveaway items, and autos will rule the day. The game used items typically take a back seat to these items for the holiday sale. The garage sale is a collecters dream. Too ba d the prices aren't.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 1, 2013 -> 11:38 AM) I wonder how many of those were real people., and how many were scalpers. The cubs allow you join up more than once
  18. QUOTE (soxfan-kwman @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 01:53 PM) Notice the Sox are ranked 24th in attendance, but 2nd in parking revenue!! Some places don't even charge for parking. When I went to Tampa to see the sox they gave us free parking for having 4 adults in our car. Bottom line the sox should give discount for a full car!! It would add attendance & concession money. They LOWERED parking prices in 2013. $20 mon-sat, and $10 Sunday. It was $25 mon-fri, and $23 sat-sun.
  19. guess, what? 2005 was luck/magic/talent/cocaine. 2006-2011 was s***ty managing with a healthy dose of mental retardation from ozzie and sons. that's why he got fired. the only reason he had the job so long was jerry is loyal to a fault.
  20. Is he dumb enough to walk away from $4 million dollars? The same guy that said he was about the money?
  21. QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 21, 2013 -> 01:12 PM) 2005, the Orioles' offer was about $4,000,000 higher than the Sox offer. That wasn't a hometown discount. That was more " orioles will suck most of this contract, so I'm better off staying with a team that has a chance to win"
  22. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 19, 2013 -> 09:33 PM) It's about jersey sales. Bonerko replica jersey at the ballpark as an active sox player: $139. As an ex-sox player(ie on another team): $59.99 That's a lotta coin jerry loses if Bonerko leaves. If he retires, they can sell them at 89.99. Konerko is the #1 sox jersey/shirsey i see at games. Hell, pretty much anywhere in Chicago.
  23. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 11:54 PM) Nobody actually goes to the park to see Paul Konerko, do they? Do you read the Facebook comments on the official sox page?
