  1. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Feb 16, 2017 -> 09:02 AM) Let me know when Giannis develops a jump shot, then you can compare him to KD. I honestly thought he was referring to Thon Maker, who while isn't producing yet, is getting pretty rave reviews and was talked about a good amount on the most recent Lowe post. I agree that Giannis has a very different game than KD.
  2. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 11:56 AM) Sorry...I guess my point was that having Brady helped make Belichick the goat and it also had an impact on Brady being a GOAT as well. I did not intend to compare Lovie with Beli as Beli is better, but more was referencing the fact that if Lovie had a QB like Brady (once he was good...I don't know that Lovie would have developed Brady into the QB he became) he would have also been pretty well. I should make things very clear, if I had to hire a head coach in this league...my three choices are Belicheck (1st) and the Harbaugh's. Pete Carroll would probably be next. I agree with you. I think they both helped each other out, like say, Walsh and Montana. It just seemed like Brady was getting very little credit around here.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 10:46 AM) Most teams with really good QBs have quite the dropoff in wins when they are relegated to their back up. When they went 11-5 it's not like they had the offseason to prepare for Brady not being around. If they knew he would miss the year, the back up would have probably been a better or at least more prepared QB. We really have no way of knowing. Brady went 11-3 his first year being thrust in as a starter. He went 9-7 his second year with a full offseason of preparation. There is so much that goes into play. A coach feels more comfortable with a QB after a while, allowing him to open things up, defenses have a lot more game tape to prepare for said QB, etc.
  4. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 09:55 AM) I tend to think that Belichick makes Brady look better more than the other way around. The Patriots went 11-5 without Brady in 2008 and went 4-0 in the games he didn't play in this year. There's no one better at turning castoffs and nobodies into good players. Would Brady have been the GOAT with another coach? I don't think so. People often talk about that 11-5 season. It's impressive, although they didn't make the playoffs, but what is overlooked is that they went 16-0 with Brady the previous season. That's a decrease of 5 wins, which is a lot of wins. He also went 3-1 without Brady this year, not 4-0. It brought him up to 19-19 overall with the Patriots when Brady hasn't started. Would Belichick have been the GOAT with another QB? I don't think so.
  5. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 5, 2017 -> 10:07 PM) I've always been a fan of Brady(even though I've said numerous times on here that I think Rodgers is better) but the fact that this game is the one that is going to cement his status as best ever for most people annoys me. He wasn't good at all today but because he made an awful throw that Edelman made a miraculous catch on and because his awful pick 6 allowed the Pats to make an amazing comeback is going to add to his legend. It's annoying. The pick 6 was bad and the miraculous catch made by Edelman wasn't great either, although it would have been one hell of an interception. That being said, my guess is that you would be in the minority thinking he wasn't good at all today. There were multiple drops by pats receivers and he was just money down the stretch (besides that crazy catch). I understand that it has to be frustrating though if you think Rodgers is better. Brady was thought of as the GOAT by most before this game, and it's just going to be the standard now.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 4, 2017 -> 05:02 PM) He knows how to play the shoe game for sure. That's what I like to hear. Last time we had a shady recruiter he assembled a team that made the national championship game.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 4, 2017 -> 04:54 PM) Another mediocre coach and shady recruiter. I do laugh at the idea of Keatts. His past with Louisville made him a no-go last offseason He improved at every job he was at each year. He has connections in Chicago and is from east St. Louis. Sign me up.
  8. Gotta think Groce is good as gone. Super excited for Cuonzo.
  9. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 09:57 PM) These refs are an absolute f***ing joke. Jordan and LeBron are mega jealous of the calls Harden got. That play where he just laid on top of MCW and got MCW called for his 6th foul was actually pretty funny.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 23, 2017 -> 09:03 AM) '09 was just a terrible matchup. Dwight at his peak and then you had not one, but two 6'10 guys in Hedo and Rashard that could shoot from deep. Yes, 2011 is and will always be the WTF moment of LeBron's career. No defense for that one. Beating a 73-win team last year and arguably the best two-way team the game has ever seen this year would overcome the '11 choke. There should be some context with that 73 win team. Their best player wasn't all that healthy. The team that lost 9 regular season games lost 9 games in the playoffs alone. They were also up 3-1 against the cavs when they had their starting 5. Often overlooked by Lebron fans when trying to say he beat the "best team ever"
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 23, 2017 -> 07:37 AM) For now. As epic as last year was for LeBron, he would have to take this juggernaut down to claim the title. Or at least share it. I look back at the teams MJ beat and start laughing. Back then you had big 2's (or big 1's if you want to talk the knicks and pacers). And lol@the benches of most of those teams. pathetic. Do you also laugh thinking of one star teams that Lebron lost to like Dallas and Orlando? Just curious.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 22, 2017 -> 12:55 PM) So it must be asked now...Are the Warriors of 2017 the GOAT? They already have (and we know this coming in) the most devastating offense of all-time. I mean just check the numbers. They're all there. But I don't think anybody expected them to be this elite defensively. I don't know what's happened to KD. He's a legit DPOY candidate. Klay/Draymond are obviously elite on that end. They've got above average length and athleticism everywhere (well, except for zaza). I said it before the season started and i'll say it again. If LeBron takes down these warriors in June he's the new GOAT. This Cavs team matches up extremely well against the Warriors. The Warriors have no rim protection (unless you try to count Durant and draymond, which is meh). The cavs have two guys that can attack the basket and score inside with Kyrie and Lebron. Last years finals: Kyrie averaged 25 PPG in games 1-4. 30 from games 5-7. Lebron 24.75 in games 1-4 and 36.3 with no rim protection in games 5-7. This isn't difficult.
  13. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 22, 2017 -> 07:27 PM) When I worked for them we had Don "Majik man" Majkowski. They have had bad QB's. I was joking. I'm 29 and good QBs for the Packers are all I've ever known. Unfair, really.
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 22, 2017 -> 07:06 PM) The Packers badly wanted JP Losman in 2004. When the Bills chose him at 22 they ended up waiting a year to grab Favre's replacement. Sucks for Losman. I'm convinced the Packers will never have a bad QB.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 15, 2017 -> 05:53 PM) I would accept "a bit closer" as plausible, but watch the end score. Dallas is not built to put up 40 in a shootout regardless of which QB they have. They want to run the ball - that RB of theirs is in fact pretty good. You don't score 40 in the NFL by Elliot running the ball for 130 yards, that keeps the ball in their hands and gives the defense a breather, but the defense can't stop them right now. The Cowboys defense needs to make some stops. They put up 40 in the last game the starters played in the regular season. They have weapons on he outside and the best oline in football. They are definitely built to score 40 if they want.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 15, 2017 -> 04:53 PM) And there's an explosion for a quick 7. That penalty for the guy coming into the huddle then leaving took at least 3 points off the board, if not 7. That's on the coaching, not Romo. None of this will matter if GB scores 40 and they're on pace to do so. Romo was not putting up 40. Cowboys have to stop Rodgers here, at least start holding him to FGs. After that penalty he missed a guy that would have gotten the first down. I'm convinced the game would be a bit closer with Romo. Who knows though
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 15, 2017 -> 04:42 PM) Their defense getting completely torched is costing them a chance at the title. Their defense was always going to be an issue. They have 3 points and like 68 yards though.
  18. Them not going back to Romo probably cost them a shot at the Super Bowl.
  19. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 15, 2017 -> 12:48 PM) Why so insecure? Both are great QBs. It just has to be tough for people to be in the minority in arguments like this. They feel like they have to convince people.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 13, 2017 -> 08:45 AM) Phillips seems like a solid hire. The only problem is he's a 3-4 guy, and they were a 4-3 team so there is going to have to be an adjustment, and he is 70 years old when the season starts. Will he stick around to see it through? He runs a Phillips 3-4 though, which is a one gap system... They're going to be disgusting.
  21. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jan 11, 2017 -> 09:54 AM) Illinois with a chance to start 2-2 in the Big Ten with a win tonight. I honestly thought 0-4 was a possibility and 1-3 was likely. Sadly, the program has fallen so f***ing low, I would gladly take 2-2. Certainly looks like a tourney team with Tejon and Kipper in the rotation.
  22. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jan 10, 2017 -> 10:45 AM) I don't think they will. They'll get one where they feel the value is right. Agreed. Also, next year looks much better for QBs, especially if the Bears suck again. I think guys like Darnold and Rosen would go #1 this year if they could leave early. Also Lamar Jackson
