2008 AL Central Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 01:48 PM) Watching Minnesota like I always do, they're saying Morneau is being snubbed because Hamilton got all the attention during and after the derby, and Morneau was an after thought even though he won it. For goodness sakes, Hamilton hit 28 homers in 1 round, plus his comeback story is worthy enough of all the recognition. I heard that too. Its like, who really cares who won. Hamilton put on the greatest performance EVER in the home run derby, every one could care less who actually won.

I hate Todd Jones!!! He is up 5, he gives up 4. He is up 3, he gives up 2. Tonight, up 2, loads the bases with one out, and only gives up one... This guy throws junk almost as bad as Borowski, and he keeps getting saves...

Favorite Moments of First Half
My favorite was the Alexei/DWise/OC 2-out rally in the 10th against JoBo & the Indians...

2008 MLB All Star Game Thread
QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 10:03 AM) 2008 All-Star Lineups, via ESPN National League: 1. Hanley Ramirez, Florida, ss 2. Chase Utley, Philadelphia, 2b 3. Lance Berkman, Houston, 1b 4. Albert Pujols, St. Louis, dh 5. Chipper Jones, Atlanta, 3b 6. Matt Holliday, Colorado, rf 7. Ryan Braun, Milwaukee, lf 8. Kosuke Fukudome, Chicago, cf 9. Geovany Soto, Chicago, c P: Ben Sheets, Milwaukee, rhp American League: 1. Ichiro Suzuki, Seattle, rf 2. Derek Jeter, New York, ss 3. Josh Hamilton, Texas, cf 4. Alex Rodriguez, New York, 3b 5. Manny Ramirez, Boston, lf 6. Milton Bradley, Texas, dh 7. Kevin Youkilis, Boston, 1b 8. Joe Mauer, Minnesota, c 9. Dustin Pedroia, Boston, 2b P: Cliff Lee, Cleveland, lhp Gotta say, that NL lineup looks much tougher than the AL one, although having fuku down in that 8-spot definitely weakens it a bit. When your middle infielders hitting 1-2 have like almost 50 HRs between them at the break, thats pretty good.

Josh Hamilton Presents the 2008 Home Run Derby
Anybody know who ESPN has set up as commentators? I assume its Chris Berman, but I hope its not so I can actually watch with the sound on. Him just screaming "back, back, back" and naming nearby towns and neighborhoods that the ball got hit too is so damn annoying. When the game was at Comiskey, just kept yelling, and that ball is hit to Joliet, to Aurora, to Wrigley, to the United Center. No, dumb ass, home plate faces east, so the ball couldnt go to any of the places, you idiot.

Vote or DYE Trying
QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 07:08 PM) This goes to show that fans don't know a thing. Hart is the least deserving of the guys in the NL and name me a stat Longoria is better at than Dye. Really? Hart: .292/.332/.510, 47 R, 15 HR, 57 RBI, 13 SB Rowand: .296/.362/.453, 40 R, 8 HR, 47 RBI, 1 SB Burrell: .279/.412/.581, 48 R, 22 HR, 54 RBI, 0 SB Theres no doubt in my mind Wright should have been the guy and Lee has been better too, but Rowands numbers dont even compare, and although Burrell has more homers, Hart has the base-running versatility so those two guys are close.

I gotta say though, I've hated rooting for Manny, Youkilis and the Red Sox the last few days, and its gonna be nice to root against them again when they stop playing the Twins...

Should Dotel be the interim closer?
QUOTE (RME JICO @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 12:55 PM) Linebrink pitched in the 11th? Let me re-phrase that: Some people just cant handle the closer role, which is in the 9th about 90% of the time, for whatever reason and should stay as set-up guys. Dotel has done it before and pretty well, so he should be the guy with Bobby down

QUOTE (Jim Spencer @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 12:40 PM) Linebrink = LaTroy Hawkins Exactly what I was thinking. Some people just cant handle pitching the 9th for whatever reason and should stay as set-up guys. Dotel has done it before and pretty well, so he should be the guy with Bobby down.

OZUNA DFA
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 8, 2008 -> 02:46 PM) Konerko is coming back. I'm not as happy as I should be. I liked the both the offensive and defensive makeup and the way the team played much better without an uproductive Paul Konerko in the lineup. Hopefully we start seeing some old Paulie. I agree, playing first seemed to rejuvenate Swisher and wasn't bad defensively, but now its back to center for him, where having the defense of Anderson/Wise was a huge plus. and the spark Wise seemed to bring to the lineup was nice too.

OZUNA DFA
I think its the right move, although I don't think D-Wise is gonna be able to keep playing anywhere near this level. Thanks Pablo for ALCS Game 2 and for being the only player on the team that could get on base against Johan & CC.

CC a Brewer
Sabathia has been quoted as saying that he wants to play out west closer to home (Oakland) and would like to play in the NL cause he likes to bat, so chances look good that he will be far away from the White sox for most of what left in his career...

Is Albert Belle's 1998
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 6, 2008 -> 05:08 PM) There's no way Thomas's 1994 is not the greatest season in the history of the White Sox. He had an OPS of like 1.200, and other than basically Bonds and Ruth, it's one of the greatest OPS's of all time. Yeah, 18th highest of all time, but looking at the names above him, its pretty damn good... http://www.baseball-reference.com/leaders/OPS_season.shtml

Porn Star a Sox Fan?
I was at the game but this thread is worthless without some pics...

Loss
I was at the game too and it just seemed there was nothing you can do. They hit a lot of balls hard off of Mark, I mean they ended up with 17 hits, and other than Thome, nobody on our team could hit the ball. Just one of those days...

Miggy Cabrera left the game with a hip flexor yesterday. If that keeps him out for a while and Mags is already on the DL, that offense is suddenly a lot weaker....
