Where is the NRA today?? This guy was killed because he was legally carrying a gun the constitution allows him to have. This is right up their wheelhouse. **crickets***

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 04:15 AM) http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/colum...706-column.html The funny thing when you read articles like this (by Haugh) is that almost nobody was saying the same things about the first half 2006 White Sox, and they ended up 26 games over .500 at the All-Star Break. This Cubs' team, at best, will be 24 games over, but more likely 22. Go Dodgers, Nationals and Mets....those are the best-suited opponents (assuming Kershaw's healthy) to wipe them out before the World Series. Of course not. They were the defending World Series Champions. As opposed to a franchise with the longest drought in sports.

My early hot take is that this guy should have never become a police officer, because he obviously wasn't cut out for the position if he panicked in a simple situation like this.

7/6/16 - Yankees @ White Sox - 7:10 - WPWR

That would have been poetic justice had he thrown Beltran out. -
QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 09:27 AM) "He was reaching for gun" Know how this story ends. Looks like his right arm kind of breaks free. The gun is later pulled out of his right pocket. Along with that quote by the cop, Good luck getting a conviction on that one.

Well at least Portugal won a game in regulation. Blech, not really a fan of the 3 teams remaining. Go France I guess.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 09:59 AM) Never a doubt Roger would comeback after being down 0-2. ANY other men's player would've been done IMO. He's unreal. It was 3-3 in the 3rd with Roger serving, Cilic was up 0-40. That was his chance, and next thing you know Roger won it 6-3. Three match points in the 4th set too.

Avila leaves game, placed on DL. Narvaez called up

Chicago White Sox @whitesox 1m1 minute ago Prior to tonight’s game, the #WhiteSox placed Alex Avila on the 15-day DL and purchased the contract of catcher Omar Narvaez. -
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 09:52 AM) Has the fWAR leader for a position ever been left off? (Quintana leads AL SP in fWAR, 5th in the league behind Kershaw, Syndergaard, Fernandez and Cueto) I'd have to imagine it's happened to a starting pitcher before, especially in the past. It's easy for a guy to pitch well, but have a little bad luck and a losing record and be overlooked.

Great match between Cilic and Federer. Cilic had him on the brink a few times but Roger has clawed back against 3 match points. Now it's tied at 9 in the tiebreaker Edit: and we head to a 5th set right when I have to leave for work, damnit

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 08:13 AM) Or the point from the article (see below), that well-rounded players like Springer, Polanco and Marte lost out to bigger "name" guys like Carlos Beltran and CarGo. Pretty shocking Duval was picked, although they had to go with someone from CINCY and his stats look good on paper, especially for a youngster. Seems the players mostly or completely ignored the concept of WAR and advanced stats completely. Adam Duvall is probably one of the least shocking picks of all. Why? You perfectly explain it right after you call it pretty shocking.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 03:08 AM) Isn't Shaq originally from Baton Rouge? You'd think even more embarrassing (from a police PR standpoint) to have it happen in the state capital. No. You are mistaking him with Neon Boudeaux

Bryant in the lineup today. At 3rd base.

P.K. Subban has character issues yet Montreal then signs a guy who was suspended in the playoffs for being drunk at a bar at 5 AM before a playoff game. Makes sense.

QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jul 1, 2016 -> 11:09 AM) Staal to the Red Wings I still have to remind myself they aren't in the same conference anymore. Their moves have little effect on the Hawks nowadays.

If he gets placed on the major league DL, how does that affect his salary? Does he get MLB pay the whole time or does he get dropped back to his MiLB money?

QUOTE (Tony @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 08:42 PM) From Dreger: I believe the Dallas Stars want Brian Campbell. I believe the Stars were his 2nd choice. I also believe he rejoins the Hawks tomorrow. What Jim Nil wants Jim Nil gets. ....

Giants are playing in Oakland tonight, an AL park. Bumgarner is batting 9th, no DH.

It was great to make the quarterfinals but those last two games were disappointing for Poland. That prevent strategy would make more sense against Germany or France, not Switzerland or Portugal. Those teams aren't that much more talented. Go for the win.
