QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 09:41 AM) Hopefully this is just a way to grab him an extra rest and manage his innings load. Fulmer? That's what I was thinking, given the timing around the AS break too.

What a dominant match by Serena, that serve was nasty. Kerber was great but had no chance.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 05:56 PM) His character doesn't matter. He wasn't doing anything to deserve being taken down. He wasn't reaching for his fun yet was still murdered. Why do the pasts of the victims always become public and rarely or never are the cops? Public arrest records are very easily attainable online. Job performance is not. Cops are very rarely arrested. Pretty simple.

I'm not a tech guru, but I think after you paste the embed code, you have to turn HTML On in the "Post Options" settings, then the tweet or video should appear.

This is the NL, not AL, but Collins names Bartolo Colon to replace Bumgarner. 39th in the NL with 1.3 fWAR. I guess Collins didn't mind the lack of Home field advantage in the WS last year. That led me to some perusing of Bartolo's career stats and I stumbled upon his 2005 Cy Young award. 2005 AL fWAR leaders for pitchers: 1. Johan Santana 7.1 2. Mark Buehrle 5.9 3. John Lackey 5.3 4. Randy Johnson 4.1 5. Bartolo Colon 4.1 6. Freddy Garcia 4.0 Santana: 16-7, 2.87 ERA, 0.971 WHIP, 231.2 IP, 238 K Colon: 21-8, 3.48 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, 222.2 IP, 157 K Yet somehow Colon easily won the award and Santana was 3rd (behind Mo Rivera too). Looks like such a travesty now, I imagine the 21 wins were prioritized 11 years ago.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 01:23 PM) Which makes it even dumber that he wasn't named. And makes it even less likely for him to be named as a replacement now

Multiple Dallas police officers shot at anti-police protest

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 08:36 AM) It was the bomb squad robot they'd normally use to remotely investigate bombs. Instead, they strapped a bomb to it and detonated it near the suspect because they felt they had no safe way of approaching him and that he wasn't going to be taken alive either way. He had also been claiming that there were IED's scattered throughout the area. A suicide robot? What an American hero! -

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 08:05 AM) So not a ton of new info out of the press conference, my main takeaways were: 1) One suspect dead, blown up by robot bomb after hours of negotiation broke down 2) Suspect claimed to be unaffiliated with any group and acting alone, though the chief implied he was skeptical of this latter claim. Was angry about the police killings and wanted to kill white people and especially white officers I'm sure the black woman he shot protecting her children will feel so much better hearing that. So will the family of the Latino cop he murdered too. At least I read one nice thing today: George Hunter @GeorgeHunter_DN According to Dallas police, protesters helped capture the shooters. And cops helped shuttle protesters to safety during the attack. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 12:40 AM) To top it all off, the Cubs are going to arrive in Pittsburgh around 4-5 a.m. That's really weird that they scheduled the makeup game at night, when both teams had day games on Wednesday. I wonder if it had to do with neighborhood night game regulations.

This is sounding like a professional terrorist attack with their tactics, armor, weapons. I wonder if the suspects will be ex military. -
QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 08:06 PM) Apparently a fan fell from the bleachers at wriggled during rain delay and was not moving. Cubs say he was severely injured when trying to jump on the field from the bleachers during the rain delay

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 07:50 PM) great, he's gonna hit .100 in the 2nd half, book it. Not much worse than he hit in the first half. Just as long as they are all gone runs, I am good.

I haven't had a job interview in 11 years, but that seems weird. Are they trying to test your popularity? What if you don't know 60 people? Either way, send it to me I can get to it in the morning.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 02:24 PM) I knew it!! I just knew it. After seeing pictures of the guy he looked like the biggest teddy bear you could imagine. He just didn't seem the type to pull a gun out on somebody for not buying his DVD. I was thinking it had to be he felt like he was getting robbed or something we hadn't heard about. It turns out he did NOTHING wrong. This is a travesty that he was assassinated. The cops need to be charged with murder today! With no bail. These incidents are proving it's not that safe to legally carry a gun cause you will be murdered by cops if you happen to get pulled over in your car or approached. Apparently they go into killer mode when near a legally owned gun. He was a registered sex offender for a crime involving a juvenile, has been convicted of domestic battery and battery with a dangerous weapon. Not your average teddy bear greg. (And no, that in no way justifies anything that happens)

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 01:46 PM) His home/road splits... no thank you I always get torn about his home/road splits. I've read breakdowns about how it can take a couple games to adjust from Coors Field to a regular elevation, so there is an even larger difference in their home/away splits. Matt Holliday was fine outside of Coors. Corey Dickerson...not so much -

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 12:36 AM) I hope the Cubs score 10 runs in the first inning tomorrow and force the Braves to burn through their bullpen. You must have really hated Lucas Harrell, huh?

Sorry Q Jordan Bastian @MLBastian 7m7 minutes ago Corey Kluber is an All-Star. The Cleveland ace has been named as a replacement for Toronto's Marco Estrada (15-day DL).
