  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 26, 2016 -> 08:49 AM) Maybe I am the only one, but I see 80% Rollins, 19% Saladino, 1% anyone else. I agree. They obviously don't like something about Saladino or you don't even bring a guy like Rollins in.
  2. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Feb 26, 2016 -> 02:41 PM) Looks like the Hawks are acquiring D Christian Erhoff from the Kings for Rob Scuderi Such a weird trade. The two best teams in the West exchanging old, bad, defensemen.
  3. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Feb 26, 2016 -> 12:08 PM) Because you look at it on a year by year basis. If one guy signed a 4 year $100 million but another team offered him 5 years $105 million deal would you say he left money on the table? If he signed with the Cubs, then of course he left money on the table just so he can drink wine with Joe Maddon.
  4. QUOTE (blackmooncreeping @ Feb 26, 2016 -> 11:56 AM) Thought he had both a 2 year/$24 million'ish and a 3 year/$3 million-ish offer that he could've signed. Signing with the Chubs guarantees him only $13 million...what am I missing? Unless he suffers a major injury or suddenly forgots how to play baseball, next offseason there's a good chance he will sign a larger and longer deal than the ones he turned down. There is a little risk on his side, but the money left on the table can easily return him next winter plus more.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 26, 2016 -> 10:18 AM) With what he has done at Valpo, he had plenty of teams try to talk him out of the Crusaders job. Over the years Miss St, DePaul, Tulsa, and even Northwestern have been rumored publicly, and I know others have called him in private. He walked away from all of it, even though it would have been multiples of money over what he was making. He loves Valpo, and it would take a good program to get him to leave. That I know first hand from his family. Did he "walk away" from DePaul and Iowa State after interviewing or was just he not offered the job at either school?
  6. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Feb 26, 2016 -> 09:13 AM) If the Baltimore rumors are true, then this was never about money for Fowler. Baltimore's offer was supposedly for 3/33M and yet Fowler signed a 1/8M with an option for 1/9M + 5M buyout next year. Fowler took considerably less money to re-sign with the Cubs. He said " this is where my heart is" and considering he signed for less, in this case, it's true that it wasn't about the money. If Fowler has a good year, then opts out, he could blow that 3/33M deal out of the water next offseason. He's taking a chance on himself to make more money in the future. Just like Heyward. Would he have signed the same deal with the Reds? No. But it's still about the money in the long run.
  7. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 09:16 PM) He's the worst player on the ice every game. The Blackhawks defense runs two players deep. Crawford has bailed out Seabs all season. He's on a mission from God: Chris Hine ‏@ChristopherHine 8h8 hours ago This was Brent Seabrook's third-best Corsi percentage night (5-on-5) of the season at 69.7.
  8. QUOTE (Tony @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 08:55 PM) Haha, I'm not concerned. In fact, the ONE downside of this Cup run over the last 6 years has made the regular season basically meaningless as a fan. We've gotten so spoiled, but I almost miss having must watch regular season games. It's all about getting a decent seed for the playoffs and staying healthy. The every game ups and downs just don't matter. Agree 100%. With our tickets I still go to about 15 games a regular season, but when I'm at home its more wondering if the Hawks are on tonight, instead of planning the night around the game like I did a few years ago. ( well two kids changed that too I guess) In 2011 and 2012, there was still questions about making the playoffs, but now it's just all about seeding and while home ice is nice, it isn't mandatory to win a Cup
  9. QUOTE (Tony @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 08:32 PM) I hope someone asks Bowman if any of the 2010 team that is still around was consulted on the move. Not that it matters, I just think it would be interesting to see if guys like 19-88-2-7-81-4 were asked if they thought it would be a good fit. This makes me think yes. Mark Lazerus ‏@MarkLazerus 42m42 minutes ago Bowman on Ladd: "He’s maintained a friendship with a number of our players, and that’s important. He’s a guy you want to go to war with."
  10. Ladd -Toews - Hossa Panarin - Anisimov - Kane Danault - Teravainen -Rasmussen or Panik Desjardins - Kruger - Shaw Bam!
  11. Other than 19 and 88, the Hawks have some big contracts getting old soon, you gotta go for it now. Love the deal, glad it was Dano and not Teuvo. They still get Kruger back for the playoffs too. Hopefully they can use cap savings from Winnipeg to get another blue liner, but they are looking like a Cup favorite again. Nice.
  12. Darren Dreger reports Ladd to Chicago! !! Check out @DarrenDreger's Tweet: https://twitter.com/DarrenDreger/status/703...0844295168?s=09
  13. Hawks beat writers also tweeting that Ladd was scratched. Teravainen still in the lineup, which is good.
  14. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 03:39 PM) Do you also respect the Dodgers for buying all their talent too? I don't. I respect teams like the Rays and Pirates who can do it on budgets. While you respect the poor teams, everyone else will keep winning the World Series
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 06:04 PM) Our lineup is quite a bit better offensively on paper than it was last year, but lets be honest, the Sox have been dogs*** for many years, its not an attractive place to play right now. The Cubs signed 3 starter FA's for less than they were offered by other teams including Heyward. It matters if your team is a favorite. If Heyward plays normally for 3 years, he will opt out and make more money than the two contracts he turned down. It's not as simple as the media keeps convincing everyone.
  16. https://mobile.twitter.com/excelsm/status/702994353841684481 Wow, Fowler's agent publicly calls out the Orioles. I don't know what to believe anymore.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 02:55 PM) Correct. But then you either have him for 1 year giving up the draft pick, or disaster happens and you are on the hook for 3. If there was no draft pick tied to him, he would have no problem getting an opt out after 1 year. Agreed. I'm not saying the opt out would have been a good idea. It's just the notion that he only wanted to play for the Cubs and nowhere else is a fairytale. He's still betting on himself to score a big payday in the future, which is why took the Cubs one year deal instead of the Orioles offer. It's similar to the guaranteed money Heyward "passed up".
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 02:32 PM) Wanted to play for the Cubs, wants to be a contender, Cubs are currently favorites to win a WS. I completely understand why the Sox had .0000001% chance. If the Sox or Orioles had offered him 3/$35 with an opt out after one season, he's not on the Cubs today.
  19. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 11:16 AM) They are the anomaly. They had pretty good success with free agency, but 99% of the teams that do fail pretty badly. Broncos also drafted very well the past few years. Von Miller, Chris Harris, Derek Wolfe, Malik Jackson, CJ Anderson. In fact when you look at it, most of their impact players were draft picks. DeMarcus Ware Aqib Talib Emmanuel Sanders T.J. Ward Louis Vasquez All those guys were offseason free-agent signings, that's some major impact there. That doesn't include the big money spent on a free agent QB too. (Who obviously sucked this year)
  20. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 11:07 AM) Probably not. Let's just name an off season winner and crown them. Last year the Jaguars signed a bunch of the big name free agents. They win on to win the Super Bowl, they beat the Eagles, the other team to sign a ton of free agents. I thought the Broncos won the Super Bowl. You know the team where at least 12 of their starters were signed as free agents.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 09:02 AM) Indiana is actually passing a PRO fantasy sports bill. http://www.thenewsdispatch.com/news/articl...XwHRZg.facebook Same thing is in the works in Illinois too, as well as many other states. Regulation = more money in the state's pockets.
  22. After his Grammy performance, I added a Kendrick Lamar station to my Pandora. For some reason, it plays a lot of Drake. Is it me or does every Drake song sound the exact f***ing same?
  23. The David Ross retirement love fest already makes me wanna puke
  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 24, 2016 -> 06:26 PM) DRose out tonight. Nobody cares but over 20% of FanDuel got screwed because the Bulls waited until after 6 to announce. Hilarious. Then again, that's what you get for rostering General Soreness.
  25. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 24, 2016 -> 08:32 AM) Thats not how he hurt it. He hurt it weeks ago and aggravated it in the first half He also had the same surgery on his other shoulder in HS, seems the kid has paper-like labrums A little exaggeration on the headline by Deadspin. The floor slapping didn't help but yeah, it seems like it was already done for.
