  1. The offense is gonna have to score at least 8 to win this game.
  2. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 09:10 AM) Tyler Flowers already has 0.5 fWAR. His total for last season was -0.1. Can that decrease still if he sucks it up for the rest of the year and plays crappy defense?
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 09:39 AM) Frank being Frank. Yup. He was everyone's favorite player because of his skill on the field, not his personality off of it.
  4. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 07:30 AM) Spartan spur fan and Adrien Payne companion, Princess Lacey died. Awful. She looked healthy on TV. Did a good job hiding it. She was just with him at the dunk contest in Dallas on Thursday too, sitting in the front row. f*** cancer
  5. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 06:29 AM) It would be nice to see the Hawks win out the rest of the way, maybe only Nashville being pesty but it'd be nice to see where positions end up by next week. If the Hawks win out, Colorado only needs 2 points in 3 games to finish in front of them. @SJ and @ANA are tougher games, but they also visit the Canucks.
  6. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 07:30 AM) Spartan spur fan and Adrien Payne companion, Princess Lacey died. Awful. She looked healthy on TV. Did a good job hiding it. Very sad to hear, that was such a neat story to see their friendship
  7. Nice offensive explosion, but where was all this Monday night against that bum?
  8. Suddenly the Avalanche are only two back of the Blues with three to play and Colorado holds the tiebreaker. Don't book those flights for Denver just yet. Hawks are four back of Colorado without the tiebreaker, so most likely still the 3 seed.
  9. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 8, 2014 -> 01:29 PM) Come on man, Dan's an asshole, especially to his own audience. I've listened to the guy off and on for 2-3 years now and he's just getting worse. Give me more examples then. You listen to Chris Collins, Grant Hill, Loul Deng, Laettner, anyone at ESPN, etc. and it's nothing but candy and roses about Coach K and the program. So far I've heard of one negative opinion from a blowhard on the radio. The lack of evidence tends to indicate the lack of an issue. But if you have more examples or can find some more verified examples I'm open to being wrong here. I hate Duke and I don't really care for Coach K (more so because of jealousy for how good Duke has been and how he comes into Chicago and takes talent out of state). I'd be more than happy to s*** on them if it's warranted. The greatest basketball players in Duke history have nothing bad to say about Coach K. Neither does the world's largest sports network that has made millions off of Duke's players. He must be an angel.
  10. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 8, 2014 -> 01:17 PM) While we're on the subject of coaches from the state of Kentucky who are jerks, I have a friend who is a charter pilot and once flew Rick Pitino. After the flight, within earshot of my friend, he said, "Don't give me that pilot anymore, I want somebody old enough to shave." That's because he was worried the young pilot would steal some of his b****es.
  11. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Apr 8, 2014 -> 10:59 AM) Abreu and Konerko? Are you saying Konerko is too slow to play the outfield?
  12. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 8, 2014 -> 10:15 AM) I don't think he's the only dirty coach, but I also don't believe EVERY coach is dirty. The thing is, I don't necessarily think it's the coaches that are so dirty, it's more about the fanbases. Marcus Camby was paid by sports agents, not Calipari. Reggie Bush was never given money by Pete Carroll. It's just that some people don't care about the rules, and some are sure they are followed to a T. I doubt that a football program like Alabama doesn't have any players receiving any extra benefits, but you better believe that those providing know exactly how to avoid getting noticed by the NCAA. Some coaches are able to control that stuff, but sometimes they get caught up by other peoples actions.
  13. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 8, 2014 -> 09:33 AM) That's always his excuse though. He's dirty. Always has been. Or he just doesn't care enough to not get busted. People aren't still playing the "Calipari is the only dirty coach in America" card, are they?
  14. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 8, 2014 -> 09:11 AM) I've never heard of a former Coach K player complain about him. And those that are still famous are 100% pro-Duke and pro-Coach K. I really hate being the person to defend him or the school, but what evidence do you have of this dictatorship? Just because he won't succumb to me-first players? I'm not saying that he treats players like crap or that it's a miserable experience there. It's just that he IS Duke basketball, and there is nothing more important that him, not the school, the town, the players. His basketball record speaks for itself, so people buy into it and accept it. There are reports about him threatening to ban campus newspapers & organizations for daring to criticize him or anything he does.
  15. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 8, 2014 -> 08:08 AM) Oh okay. I think he's aware of the state of college basketball though. He recruits the best kids in the country and when they are projected to be high picks, he recommends that they go pro. I'd take Calipari any day of the week over some sanctimonious piece of crap like Krzyzewski or Boeheim. Boeheim just last week criticized Tyler Ennis for going pro. He'd rather have Ennis stay, not to benefit Ennis but to benefit Boeheim. K got one of the best players in the country (Jabari Parker) to play at Duke this year and rather than run offense through him, he basically called him out after their opening round loss to Mercer. If these coaches don't want guys to leave after 1 year then stop recruiting the best players in the country. Agreed 100%. There is no doubt in my mind Calipari cares way more about his players than coach K. He has built a dictatorship in Durham to the old school college basketball model and refuses to let anyone change that or step in his way. It's kind of Penn State-esque.
  16. Having it be a program like UCONN ruins the fun of a 7 seed "Cinderella" winning it all. (Same had Kentucky won)
  17. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 09:06 AM) Paulino vs. Lyles at Coors Field? The O/U of 10 seems low. Rockies scored 8 and still hit the under. Way to go Sox bats
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 09:10 PM) Matt Moore had to leave tonight. Looks like the elbow went. Right on cue with the "donut" contract article above.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 10:17 AM) Deadspin is a bottom feeder infested rathole. Which sucks, because when they actually try and write something meaningful and important, they usually do a very good job.
  20. QUOTE (sammy esposito @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 03:50 PM) If someone mentioned Cotts I have to mention Cliff Politte , one at bat when he faked a bunt and then swung away that resulted in a base hit. That was in Denver in 2005, it was an RBI single. His only at-bat as a member of the Sox.
  21. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 03:53 PM) Major Wright signs with TB and Lovie. Good luck with that. I hope it's a package deal with Conte.
  22. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 11:13 AM) It's been busted since before we bought the place. According to our neighbor, it was installed around 1999 but wasn't used by the two owners between then and when we bought the place (2011). The pump still works, but who knows how long the plumbing's been busted. You'd need to either keep it on all winter so the water doesn't freeze or drain and winterize it. Just saw this, but I was in the exact same position as you. We bought our house in 2010 with a hot tub in the backyard. I turned it on and the water didn't heat, it turned out that the tub was made in 1990. Instead of trying to fix it, we bought a new one. I asked the sales guy what we can do with our old one, and he said you can pay us $300 to take it away, or you can put a sign in your yard or advertise online, I guarantee someone will pick it up. We put a "Free Hot Tub" listing on Craigslist and had a bunch of inquires right away. A newlywed couple from the sticks came and picked it up in their old ass pickup truck, it was one of the most entertaining sights of my life. We use it in the winter sometimes, so we have it full and running all winter. The electric bill was a bit high this year when it was -15 degrees all f***ing day.
  23. How much money are the coaches making? The athletic directors? If all the "profit" is going to build a nice stadium that the school can use for other purposes as well, then I don't see a problem. If it's going into the pocket of administrators, then yes, maybe some should go to the players instead. In college, coaches make millions dollars each year, some ADs are in the high six figures. They don't want athletes to get paid because it would come out of their pocket. How many "non-profit" bowl committes are there where everyone is making hundreds of thousands as well.
  24. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 03:19 PM) He has a bum shoulder, and its probably cost him his career. If he could ever get things back it would be a heck of a deal, but thats far from likely at this point. There are some people that have said that his mechanics are jacked up from pitching through the injury, but I think the Rangers cutting him loose probably shows he has little left in the tank. This. The Rangers are as desperate as they get right now for starting pitching, so if they can't even use this guy...
