Trade Beckham! -
Cliff Lee managed to blow a 6-run lead in the span of two innings down in Texas. Soxtalk's favorite player Alex Rios with a big 3-run homer.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 31, 2014 -> 09:32 AM) Finally, the last ever episode of HIMYM tonight. Finally is right, although I feel like I will miss it depsite all my complaining about it.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 31, 2014 -> 01:56 PM) He did close before, so that makes some sense. Which may make him more attractive to teams at the trade deadline if he does well.
-
Matt Duchene is out 4 weeks with a knee injury, so he may miss the first round series against the Hawks.

Konerko wants no special treatment, start on O.D.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 31, 2014 -> 08:54 AM) Derek Jeter is a first ballot HOFer who has multiple WS rings and was the captain of the Yankees for years. He has conducted himself with nothing but class. The hatred he gets is beyond confusing to me. He is exactly what you would want your sports heroes to be. Yup. -

QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 30, 2014 -> 06:37 PM) Almost everything on B/R is now written by paid writers, including several top-notch sportswriters that they've snagged from NYT and other reputable publications One of those paid top-notch sportswriters need to know that slide shows suck and cause people to avoid reading your articles.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 31, 2014 -> 09:15 AM) They've done it like 6 or 7 straight years, so I don't see why it would be any different this year. Usually first week of the season and first week after the ASB. Sweet, that's what I'm hoping. Seeing Dunn strikeout in an online game tracker is not the same as watching it unfold live! -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 31, 2014 -> 08:07 AM) Alas, only 18. Since Opening Day wasn't really yesterday, or today, or tomorrow for some teams. It was actually two weeks ago halfway around the world, so he already had an inning pitched officially.

Q said he doesn't think it's serious, calls the Captain day-to-day, but we all know how hockey injuries go. "Upper-body"

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Mar 30, 2014 -> 06:37 PM) Ho-le s***. Never even realized this was named after United Airlines. I guess I just assumed it was a generic name. HAHAHA. As a stoned teenager, I remember watching the 1997 NBA Finals and having no idea that both the United Center & Delta Center were named after airline sponsors. Like you said, I just thought it was a generic adjective. At least I was only 14 at the time, so that's a good excuse.

f***. Brooks Orpik just ended the Hawks season.

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 30, 2014 -> 07:36 PM) I guess the schadenfreude articles about Caliparis struggles were a bit premature 7 days ago it was impossible to win with one and done players. Not so fast my friend.

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 30, 2014 -> 02:54 PM) Meh. As long as Randle and Harrisons are there. Deep breath. And they have McDonald's All Americans just stashed on the bench.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 30, 2014 -> 12:38 PM) Chuck Garfien @ChuckGarfien 1h Just under 3,000 seats available for White Sox home opener (supposed to be in the mid-60's tomorrow) You know when it's bad when Opening Day isn't sold out yet. -
Wow, is this thread for real?

10 point final with a 10.5 point spread, gotta love it

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 28, 2014 -> 11:40 PM) Big 10 has a great chance to get their first national championship since MSU. Michigan and MSU should both be favored (although MSU has to play a road game essentially)...and nobody would be shocked with how well Wisconsin has played the last 6 weeks if they went on to beat Arizona. Talk about the kiss of death

Tigers extend Cabrera 10 years, $300 million

QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 28, 2014 -> 11:55 PM) I just don't understand baseball's need to give a contract like this. 10 years is just flat out stupid. I mean in 4 years (which is a long time) he might have a bad back or something and be DONE. It's just unnecessary to pay this kind of money to a fricking baseball player. Baseball players would play for a million a year if they had to. For the most part, they are not rocket scientists. Baseball owners slay me. Some of you don't remember the day you could actually go to a baseball game and park for a couple of bucks instead of 25-50 bucks and didn't need to shell out 59 bucks for a halfway decent seat for a meaningless April game. Baseball was never meant to be an elitist sport as it has become. Ridiculous. I guess the team gets to purchase insurance in case he can't ever play again after a serious injury; I'm assuming they at least will do that. You can take the train to a Sox game and buy a ticket for maybe ten bucks. If you spend five minutes on an online survey, the Sox will give you free tickets. You complain that the Sox should spend more money, yet criticize every team that signs a big FA. -
