  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 02:57 PM) Soldier Field area would be horrific for a baseball team playing 81 home games. A traffic nighmare on LSD every night. Not really easy public transportation access either. It's OK for the Bears because it is mainly on Sundays and 10% of the amount of games. The South Loop at Roosevelt was the spot. Could have had the downtown workers after work, a riverwalk, open to the skyline, close to public transportation. Agreed. The death march to Roosevelt is bad enough two Sundays a month, I can't imagine it for a whole week of Sox games. (Granted, there would be less than half as many people)
  2. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 01:50 PM) I find it a bit difficult to be sympathetic to the union, considering the fact that the money is guaranteed. Additionally, I find it interesting that the article really makes no mention of how odd the service time arrangement is to begin with, but tries to poke all kinds of holes in club options. Just seems like they are missing the real issue here... I agree. I don't see the union giving Ricky Romero & Jose Tabata's money back. There is something to be said for lifetime financial security at the expense of future earnings in a sport where injuries happen often. I've always thought the same thing about service time in MLB, especially given how much time some players spend in the minors. You have zero choice of leaving an organization for 7-10 years.
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 02:21 PM) Peaches Geldof, 25 years old Is she just another person famous for partying and having rich parents?
  4. With that .333 career OPS, Paulino could be a Sox catcher.
  5. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 10:15 AM) Let's just say it's in the city limits with beautiful skyline view when the roof is open. Count me in
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 10:04 AM) I do wonder if the Sox are safe from relocation. Just based on-- what happens after Reinsdorf dies? And isn't the stadium deal only through 2029? Will the Cell be obsolete in 15 years? Who would be the next owner/chairman? Hypothetical Question (obviously)-- If you were offered the option of the White Sox and Cubs being contracted (both franchises don't exist anymore), and the Rays relocated to Chicago and moved into a new retractable roof stadium that they paid for, and Chicago became a one baseball team city---would you take that offer? Where is the stadium?
  7. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 07:05 AM) Yes, the seeding was terrible this year. Seeding relies heavily on RPI and RPI relies too much on games from earlier in the year. Kentucky especially is a very different team than the one that lost to weaker teams earlier in the year. Louisville got punished because the bottom half of their conference was so bad. That's gonna happen when you miss the realignment train and get dropped into a mid-major conference.
  8. Paulino vs. Lyles at Coors Field? The O/U of 10 seems low.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 6, 2014 -> 10:24 PM) I firmly believe we have a better team on paper than Minnesota. So that's saying something this season. Sox are making progress? On paper the Sox had a better team than Minnesota last year too.
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 11:13 PM) They also have a ton of talent. If you only seeded on talent. Wisconsin wouldn't have been a #2. Kentucky under achieved all year, and now they are stepping up to the plate, while they keep getting all the luck, it doesn't make their seeding wrong.
  11. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 11:05 PM) I felt Kentucky was given a bad seed at the beginning. They gave UMass a #6 seed in that region. Given what they did in the regular season, they didn't deserve that much higher of a seed. They still needed late second magic to beat four of the best teams in the tourney. It's not about seeding, it's about momentum and luck.
  12. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 10:34 PM) Really? Seriously. Kentucky has ended up on the right side of a 3 pointer for 4 straight games. They are playing the best ball of the year and they can't miss a shot in the last 5 minutes.
  13. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 09:54 PM) This is fun. Kentucky ' s last four games have been incredibly entertaining, like them or not.
  14. Whoever initiated the separate feeds on different channels is a genius. Pretty cool to watch the game with Wayne Larrive, not to mention all the tweets from idiots complaining about announcer bias are hilarious.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 06:29 PM) Doesn't Cooper make most of the pitching decisions? With a young manager like Robin, of course he does. I'm sure Robin wants it that way too.
  16. The first game had to be one of the worst Final Four games in recent memory. I'm thinking this second one will be 100% more exciting. Go Bucky.
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 07:29 PM) I can't believe UConn might be winning their 2nd title in 4 years and neither team was particularly good. Gives me hope as an Illini fan!
  18. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 05:14 PM) I do not want to watch an all SEC title game for the fans alone. Most of them will be too busy dissecting spring football games to care.
  19. That was quite the nut-punch last second goal to a team fighting for a playoff spot. They must be happy to only be facing the Hawks twice a year.
  20. Not that I disagree, but weird seeing Konerko bat 6th.
  21. The Evil Empire's current infield consists of Kelly Johnson, Brian Roberts, Dean Anna, and Yangervis Solarte.
  22. Puig showed late up to the stadium today and was promptly removed from the starting lineup.
  23. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 12:07 PM) One can assume that the comment was made because of Denver's location. It's windy and a mile high over there. The Rockies play in Denver. If those factors are always existent there, then the Rockies should theoretically lead the majors in HRs every year. The Rockies did lead the majors in runs scored at home 3 of the last 4 seasons. The ball still carries and finds its way into the gaps very easily there, just maybe not as bad as when it first opened.
  24. The only player I really was rooted against was Daniel Hudson. It was absolutely nothing personal against him either. No matter what subject a thread was about, somehow there managed to be a post complaining about that trade, so I just hoped he would fail so people would shut up.
  25. I saw yesterday that Atletico Madrid's jersey sponsor is the country of Azerbaijan. That's so ridiculous and awesome at the same time.
