QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 04:44 PM) Dan Hayes @DanHayesCSN 1h #WhiteSox have spoken to Paul Konerko. Sounds as if there's a spot open for him if he wants it. But he hasnt indicated his plans. Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 41m I always believed if Konerko wanted to return for '14, there would be a spot for him with the White Sox--as there should be. I have made my thoughts on this clear. Really stupid decision in my opinion. I hope Reinsdorf is behind this move because it would make me question Rick Hahn's judgment. First major fail by Rick Hahn. Hopefully PK retires.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 07:34 PM) It is the difference between having everyone back, and having a whole new team. Exactly. Luckily for Calipari, they have five months to figure it out. -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 01:34 PM) Too extreme to be funny. You can find him at Jimmy Greens in the south loop if you really want to hang out with him. Just don't get knocked up by him. (too extreme too?)

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 12:57 PM) How about if that shell of a former self still can outplay Conte and Wright? Can he? I'm not so sure about that

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 12:50 PM) I for one would be pumped to add another aging veteran playing like a shell of their former selves. Might as well call up Shaun Gayle too.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 11:01 AM) Joel Quenneville's Mustache Andrew Shaw gets a two year extension. Well-deserved. Nice, but hopefully not for too much money. Shawzer is the man, but I think he's a bit lower on the list of irreplaceble Hawks.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 11:01 AM) For winning, sure. For being "the guy" and playing time, I wouldn't put Kansas ahead of Illinois. If he is as good as his ranking, he is gonna get playing time anywhere he goes. IMO that's not a concern anywhere he goes, especially in today's college landscape. I guess he would be more of the Big Man on Campus in Champaign, but the best player in Lawrence is pretty damn popular too. -

QUOTE (KG#1 @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 10:37 AM) Adam Rubin @AdamRubinESPN Confirmed: Marlon Byrd two-year deal with #Phillies. #mets As most teams keep going with a youth movement, the Phillies seem to just keep getting older & older. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 09:56 AM) Possible. If his stated goals of (1) playing time (2) being "the" guy and (3) winning, Illinois is his best choice. over DePaul, but not over Kansas. -
QUOTE (Boogua @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 09:53 AM) Jeez. I just did some research after you said this and it looks like 7 or 8 out of the 11 starters on defense this year will be a FA. I wonder if Emery tries to shift to a 3-4 or more of a hybrid defense now that most of the cover 2 personnel will be off the books. I think those vet LBs they signed like Williams & Anderson were all one year deals. I wonder what will happen with Melton coming off his major injury.

Atlanta Braves to leave Turner Field
LittleHurt05 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 08:53 AM) Its just crazy to me that the Braves are moving 20 years after they built a new stadium. And the media outcry i am reading is more "I cant believe they are moving to the suburbs" more than "i cant believe they are MOVING". Could you imagine if all the sudden the Sox were like "Lease is up, We are out, Rosemont here we come!"? That would be so awesome. -
QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 09:14 AM) We owe him $8M if we cut him and $18M if he stays. Him staying will make retaining Cutler difficult and any other moves of note damn near impossible Considering how insignificant he has been, I would think that $10 million in cap room saved is worth paying him not to play.

Wasn't yesterday supposed to be a postal holiday? We had mail delivered to our shop, but not at home. Weird.

I've really been digging the BlackList.

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 06:19 AM) I've never heard that Dunn is a bad clubhouse guy. I don't think he's lazy either. He talked about his prep for 2011, when he said he didn't do a lot of baseball work over the winter. I think because of his disastrous 2011 season, it made him look like he was lazy. Do you know who else never did anything in the offseason? Mark Buehrle. He wouldn't even pick up a baseball all winter, but I never heard him classified as lazy. Then he had a bad year where he wore out, so he changed his offseason routine. Same thing with Dunn. For 10 years, he was the best home run hitter in all of baseball without picking up a bat in the offseason. Then 2011 happened, so he realized he had to change his ways as he got older which he did. It's not like he signed that big contract and decided to be lazy, that was his routine every year and it worked pretty damn well.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 11, 2013 -> 12:24 PM) If it makes you feel any better, I started him as well. Sorry buddy. Actually I played a winless team and I started Marshawn, Pierre Thomas, and Andre Brown, so I still won despite my negative QB. -
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 11, 2013 -> 08:02 PM) Shall we make a bet of which number Uribe comes closer to next year? 5.1 or -1.5? For those not very privy to math, the middle point there is 1.8. Or instead shall we bet on whether he ends up being "worth" $6M next year, which would mean he would need about a 1.2 WAR (according to Fangraph's value of a win). In 13 seasons, Uribe has had 0.5 WAR or less six times and one season at 1.1. So I would say it's very possible he won't even be worth the $6 million.

Steven Stamkos just crashed into the net and appeared to seriously hurt his leg. Sucks to see a top player get injured like that. The .gif of the injury is at this link, careful if injuries can make you a bit queasy, it wasn't pretty. http://twitpic.com/dkwvmt

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Nov 11, 2013 -> 12:52 PM) Peanut Tillman on IR with a tricep injury. Can't play rest of regular season but could return for the playoffs. Cutler week to week with a high ankle sprain. Great. That's their 3 best defensive players missing about 25 games combined.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 11, 2013 -> 10:15 AM) I think Sox will bring AJ back. I don't see AJ wanting to sign with the Sox.

QUOTE (MAX @ Nov 10, 2013 -> 11:58 PM) If Jeffrey catches two TD passes that hit his hands, no one is talking about cutler. Had Cutler been physically able to scramble on that late 3rd down, no one is talking about Cutler.

Thanks to PT23 last night, I was able to overcome Locker's negative outing. All is forgiven! -
If you are gonna start a thread, at least spell the guy's name right.

Again, why are we trading Dunn? There is nobody in the system to take his place in 2014. If by the small chance you compete in 2014, his home runs will be a reason why. Keep him. Maybe an AL team gets desperate at the deadline.
