  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 21, 2013 -> 10:00 AM) I dont think he will break down per se. I have just read the stories that Rangers players just tire out by mid august, they dont have the pop/speed/strength that they did when the season started. Not that it doesnt happen to other players on other teams, just that it is more drastic in Texas because they are playing in 100 degree weather constantly That is true, but he seems to hold up better than most players despite being round, so it will be interesting to watch.
  2. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Nov 21, 2013 -> 09:33 AM) Could see a three way change of scenery trade where Kemp and a spect go to the Brewers, Braun goes to team X, and pitching goes to the Dodgers. Kemp to the Brew Crew Braun to the White Sox Danks & Lindstrom to the Dodgers Get it done Rick!!!
  3. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Nov 21, 2013 -> 09:06 AM) Analysis completed by Florida police confirmed that DNA provided by Florida State QB Jameis Winston matched a sample taken from the underwear of the woman who has accused him of sexual battery, according to ESPN. Per ESPN, who saw the report, "the chance of the DNA in the woman's underwear being a match for someone other than Winston was one in 2.2 trillion." The initial sample was obtained on Dec. 7, 2012 after the alleged incident occurred. Winston then took his half of the test on Tuesday. Per Rotoworld We will see If Florida St turns a blind eye. I wonder if there is any other evidence or witnesses. or is it just "he assaulted me" vs. "it was consenual".
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 21, 2013 -> 08:57 AM) It will be interesting to see how Fielder does when the oppressive summer heat sets in. That heat has pushed down many good hitters For all the jokes about him breaking down because he is fat, he deserves major credit for playing every day. 2006 - 157 GP 2007 - 158 GP 2008 - 159 GP 2009 - 162 GP 2010 - 161 GP 2011 - 162 GP 2012 - 162 GP 2013 - 162 GP
  5. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Nov 20, 2013 -> 11:07 PM) Holy s***, fun basketball game if you're not invested. To lose three starters and still win.....that's nice. UMKC will be a little bit of a breather after Michigan and @ BYU. That being said, those are two great wins come March. That's how you clinch a tourney berth in November.
  6. Here is a fun little draw simulator to see where the US could end up. Some very tough possibilities, gotta hope for a group with Switzerland. http://ultra-zone.net/2014-FIFA-World-Cup-Group-Stage-Draws
  7. QUOTE (Baron @ Nov 20, 2013 -> 08:30 PM) That may be the dumbest thing I've read today I concur. Just like shack said, they had to give up Kinsler, which you don't do for FA signings. Not to mention, just because Cano gets that much money, it doesn't make it a good contract.
  8. Might as well keep him on the roster so he can play all nine positions in one game. That's more exciting than anything that happened in 2013.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 01:11 PM) Unless there's something with the parking.... Let's be honest. Turner Field is essentially in an area that's similar to the South Side of Chicago in the 1960's/70's/early to mid 80's. It's about race, safety, crime.....racism, however you want to look at it. A majority of their fans are from the surrounding/outlying suburbs, whereas only 1-2% are coming from that area of the city. If you go back in history, the City of Atlanta in 1995-96 actually rounded up homeless people, drug dealers/users, veterans...and forcibly relocated them to an area outside of the city during the Olympics. Isn't that standard for every Olympic host?
  10. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 20, 2013 -> 02:58 PM) It's a valid point. I think that it may have to with how horribly bad and horribly small market the Brewers are, though. But you could be right. And he made Aaron Rodgers look bad which may be an unforgivable offense in Packer country.
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 20, 2013 -> 01:06 PM) The Jameis Winston situation is rapidly coming to a head This could be the break Buckeye fans are looking for.
  12. I'm not supporting A-Rod, but this has turned into a witch-hunt and MLB is starting to look kind of silly.
  13. QUOTE (SoIL @ Nov 20, 2013 -> 11:36 AM) Per Rotoworld. Interesting stuff. If they are willing to take Ike Davis, I wonder if they would take Adan Dunn. Not sure having a steroid user is good for the club, but he does have some talent. Matt Cerrone of MetsBlog.com was told by "people familiar with the team's thinking" that there is a better chance of the Brewers trading Ryan Braun for Ike Davis than Norichika Aoki. Well, that's something. Cerrone adds that the Brewers are willing to pay "a good chunk" of the $113 million remaining on Braun's contract to force a change of scenery in the aftermath of his PED suspension. We're skeptical of the reasoning in general and many teams would likely jump at the opportunity to acquire Braun at a discount after his transgressions, so this scenario is a long, long way from becoming a reality. I call 100% BS, but if it's true sign me up.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 20, 2013 -> 09:10 AM) That was one nasty looking injury he had last year though. I completely forgot about the injury, but I guess an ankle is better than an elbow or shoulder.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 20, 2013 -> 08:56 AM) It wasn't. The defense was awful. Anymore turnovers, they could have opened a pizza place. 1st in goals scored, 22nd in goals against. The top 8 teams in hockey all are in the West, and only two points seperate those teams. Shows how strong the West is, and I think it's becoming obvious they need to change something with the OTL points, not enough seperation in the standings. Personally, I would go 3 points for a regulation win, 2 for a OTW, 1 point for an OTL.
  16. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 19, 2013 -> 11:52 PM) Last time we saw Roy Oswalt, which was for 32 IP last year, he was very solid. Last time we saw Roy Oswalt fully healthy was 2010, when he was fantastic. Roy Oswalt hasn't had a bad year in his career, he's just had injured ones. Roy Oswalt or Grady Sizemore? If Oswalt was 30, maybe you can blame his struggles solely on injuries. But at the age of 36, you can't just assume a healthy Roy Oswalt will kill it on the mound.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 20, 2013 -> 07:36 AM) I believe the percentage of runs scored via the home run in 2005 was exactly the same or slightly higher than 2004. The 2005 offense relied heavily on the long ball. The '05 Sox playing "small-ball" is one of the biggest myths around. People remember Pods at the top of the lineup, and seem to think the whole team just played small-ball. The rest of the lineup had some major pop to it, just like almost all Sox teams in the 00s. The difference was the outstanding pitching. If you think about the playoffs, at least 7 of the 11 playoff wins had huge game-changing home runs.
  18. QUOTE (ChiSoxFan05 @ Nov 19, 2013 -> 10:34 PM) That's right, good point ^^. Hell, he could've even won in 06 with Oakland. Justin Morneau & Derek Jeter took PEDs?
  19. QUOTE (ChiSoxFan05 @ Nov 19, 2013 -> 09:02 PM) Keep in mind that Abreu and Dunn will combine for 400 strikeouts as well. Do we really want to make that 575/600? With 100 home runs, sure I'll take that many Ks.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 19, 2013 -> 07:45 PM) After last year, I don't see how De Aza can't be the #1 name on that list. If he was that bad last year, why would you be so anxious to trade him with his value so low?
  21. Bickell nearly pulled a Stamkos, hope it's nothing serious.
  22. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 19, 2013 -> 06:59 PM) The Giants are not f***ing around this offseason. Pence Lincecum Hudson Lopez Retaining and gaining players left and right. I really like the Hudson signing in their park.
  23. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 19, 2013 -> 03:34 PM) Dunn at a 162 game average: 38 HR 96 RBI .238/.366/.495 Konerko at a 162 game average: 31 HR 99 RBI .281/.356/.491 Differences: Dunn bursted on the scene as a 21 year old. Konerko sucked in his first ~400 ABs. Konerko signed a 3yr/39mil contract for his 35-37 seasons. Dunn will be a FA next year looking for a contract for his 35 year old season. Do you think he'll get a a 3 year contract? Konerko has much better longevity and it's not debatable. Dunn is arguably better in his best years. And Konerko was one of the worst players in all of baseball for the entire second half of that contract.
  24. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 19, 2013 -> 03:15 PM) Looks like he still might need one more. I think he heard you! What a game.
