QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 04:54 PM) Meh. I'm an adult. The view will be better on the highlights from tv. Agreed. Not to mention I heard the obnoxious drunk teenager count was off the charts in 2010, no thank you. -

QUOTE (RME JICO @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 07:25 PM) I am still in shock, it was epic. After the Lucic goal I was just hoping for a tie to take it to OT, then Bicks scores right as Crow comes off the ice. The Bolland goal was simply shocking. Those 58.3 seconds could not tick off fast enough. I am still giddy 24 hours later. I was just thinking, how often do you see both goaltenders pulled at the end of the same game? -
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 02:38 PM) Getting back to the orioginal question of the poll: Yes, letting AJ walk was a mistake. To late now. Let's move on No it wasn't, it was absolutely the right decision.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 01:30 PM) I googled "Kerry Wood HR 2003" and shockingly the whole game is up on YT. The Wood at-bat starts at 34:30. That s*** was just nuts. I remember seeing a stat that Prior & Wood pitched back-to-back like 16 times during the regular season. Never once did they lose both games. Until October.

I work in Elk Grove and as I drove home at the Higgins/Elmhurst intersection, there is a weird "Cash 4 gold" smoke shop type place at the corner. In the parking lot, they have a drive thru coffee stand named Twin Peaks Coffee. Lo and behold, as I drive by I notice that the female server is wearing nothing but a bikini. Heavenly Bodies is across the street, so they may be related, but it's the most random thing in the middle of a heavily industrial area.

QUOTE (lord chas @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 12:28 PM) Agree. Many people on social media thinking the Boston fans were booing the Hawks when Bettman appeared and complaining that Handzus got the Cup second Were those the same people who were rooting for a game 7 so that the Hawks could clinch on home ice?

QUOTE (MEANS @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 12:08 PM) I got to design the locker room t-shirt that they received last night, first time my favorite team won when I had the locker room design. What a great feeling! Sweet! -
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 11:02 AM) I've watched game 7 between Marlins/Cubs from 2003 on youtube a few times since it was posted by MLB, and there are two conclusions I've come to: 1- Miguel Cabrera has gained a lot of weight 2- I still get anxious seeing how ridiculous the Wrigley area was during that game/series Have you seen the Bartman 30 for 30? That was game 6, but the kid filming from the stadium gave a good feeling as to how anxious the place was.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 11:07 AM) I wasn't there, obviously. But when Kerry Wood hit that 2-run HR to tie the game in like the third inning or whatever, it was the loudest I've ever heard a sports stadium/park EVER. I live in the suburbs and I felt like I could hear the mayhem. I remember seeing the horde of people on Waveland during the game too, it was just pure mayhem on the street after that homer.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 10:32 AM) They were both estimated at 2 million though both numbers were stretched and unfair to compare since the Sox had a longer route. The real telling number is tv ratings and the Sox dwarf the Hawks there during their runs. Anyone know what the local TV ratings were for the 2005 WS? I can only find the national ones (which were brutal), I'd be interested to see how much higher they were.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 10:34 AM) Hockey is becoming quite popular in the pacific northwest as well. Attendance shouldn't be the be all end all of a popularity debate. I believe the MLS outdrew on average both the NBA and NHL (and possibly MLB). I'm a huge soccer fan, and the sport is absolutely growing in this country, but it'd be silly to suggest it is more popular than the aforementioned sports. MLS plays in larger stadiums than the NBA & NHL.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 10:08 AM) Here's the thing. Go back to 2005. Which team, had they won a trophy in their sport, would have a bigger, more excited parade? If it happened anytime soon, it would be the Cubs, quite obviously. The White Sox parade was far bigger than anything that's ever happened with the Blackhawks in terms of a citywide reaction. Anyone going to games in 2006 would probably disagree with some of those rankings as well. Obviously right now, it's Bears/Blackhawks/Bulls (with a healthy Rose)/Cubs/Illinois/White Sox. I can't find an article right now, but if I remember correctly the Hawks parade dwarfed the Sox parade in the amount of people that showed up.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 09:09 AM) I really don't think so. If anything, I think you are looking at the two being equal, but I think the Hawks have the advantage. Winning a championship in terms of how many pay attention, I'd say you're looking at 1) Bears 2) Bulls 3) Cubs 4) Blackhawks 5) Sox 6) Ping Pong 7) Lacrosse 8) Fire 9) Wolves 10) Sky Cubs have to be #2 on that list with the drought, curse, Wrigley love, etc. If they ever win one, Wrigleyville may burn down.

Anyone think we'll make a play for this Gonzalez kid?
LittleHurt05 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The Sox may make a play for him, but no way in hell they put in the highest bid. -
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 02:45 AM) It wouldn't be a Chicago team otherwise. Except for that whole double 3-peat thing in the 90s

The goalies were outstanding of course, the stars did their thing, but how f***ing huge were Frolik & Kruger this season. The way they just clicked and then dominated on the penalty kill was big all year. They may have struggled to score power play goals, but they didn't give many up either. -

Did that really just happen last night? Holy s***. What a year. From not knowing when/if the season was gonna start, the unbeaten streak, the escape vs. Detroit, then that ending. Wow. Way to go Blackhawks. In the summer of 2008, a buddy texted me "The Blackhawks are back, who is in for season tickets?". My interest in the Hawks had waned for obvious reasons, but I said yes, was all in again, and what a 5 year run it has been. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 24, 2013 -> 01:05 PM) Have you seen what's left on Cliff Lee's deal? True, but at least that's done with by 2016. The Andrus deal goes to 2023, while that's only $15 million, not $25 mil, he still isn't much of a hitter. -

QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 24, 2013 -> 12:52 PM) Not sure that it has to do with this thread, but a deal sending Cliff Lee back to Texas for Elvis Andrus makes too much sense not to happen. That Andrus contract is nutty, and there's risk and money on the Lee side of things. Maybe we could get involved there. Texas IIRC lost Harrison for the year & they need an OF also. Maybe there's a 3-way deal where Texas keeps Profar as thier SS, sends Andrus to Philly, and gets back Cliff Lee + Peavy or Cliff Lee + Rios. Texas & maybe Philly could send specs our way. Rollins is still under contract for a couple more years with Philly, but Young at 3B & Utley at 2B are headed for FA. If that Andrus deal is so nutty, why in the world would Philly want to trade for it? -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 24, 2013 -> 11:12 AM) With his lower ranking, him and Federer could meet in the quarters, with Andy Murray looming in the semis. Quite the draw on that side of the bracket. Or not. He gone.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 24, 2013 -> 10:39 AM) Nadal loses first set and down 3-2 in second. Guess he wasn't ranked too low. I expect him to comeback and win but still. Yikes With his lower ranking, him and Federer could meet in the quarters, with Andy Murray looming in the semis. Quite the draw on that side of the bracket.

Bergeron is expected to play tonight. I guess you can always buy another spleen.
