  1. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 5, 2013 -> 05:06 PM) For sure. This year so much has gone wrong you start to wonder about stupid stuff like the odd number year jinx, the unlucky #13, and other twilight zone crap, anything other than facing the reality that the Sox suck just to be able to cope with it. I blame Theo
  2. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 5, 2013 -> 03:00 PM) Rockies aren't parting with Arenado or Dahl. Rutledge is a possibility after Tulo returns next week. I have always liked outfielder Charlie Blackmon. Newcomer Corey Dickerson seems to have moved ahead of him. Rockies should be a good trading partner, because one pitcher could make a huge difference for them. If Rutledge can't hit at Coors Field, I'm not sure if we want him.
  3. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 5, 2013 -> 07:44 PM) nobody important... Just a relative of the manager...
  4. QUOTE (IowanSoxFan @ Jul 5, 2013 -> 03:03 PM) Bobby Ryan to the Sens...interesting. Anaheim gave Perry & Getzlaf the money and let Ryan be the casualty. That was quite the line when together. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jul 5, 2013 -> 06:27 PM) An Ottawa/Detroit series in next year's playoffs would be so awkward. It seem like it's been a pretty big deal in Ottawa that he left. He went to Detroit "to win a Cup" so it would be awesome if Ottawa eliminated them.
  5. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 5, 2013 -> 02:12 PM) Oh, I love Leddy, I'm not worried skill wise, I just mean I hope this isn't a sign that Q may not like Leddy as much as we do, and he continues to see 10 mins or less on the ice. If it was the entire playoffs I would be concerned, but it was just the road games in the Stanley Cup Finals, season on the line, he just wasn't feeling it. Did the same thing to Seabrook earlier in the playoffs.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 5, 2013 -> 10:54 AM) Committed Indians Ray Emery to Philly, Alfredsson to Detroit Good luck to Emery in the city where goalies go to die. It's weird seeing Detroit make moves then realizing it doesn't really affect the Hawks anymore.
  7. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 5, 2013 -> 10:56 AM) Yes. Phegley was considered a very good and talented hitter coming out of college, but in his second year he was diagnosed with ITP. It took some time, but he was finally able to get some control of it last year and he has been quite healthy this year. If the health remains, there's no reason to think he can't be a good bat. Interesting, thanks.
  8. I have to root for a Hoosier? Ugh. Took at a glance at his minor league numbers, is there any reason to think 2013 isn't a fluke? .966 OPS this year, previous best season was a .743.
  9. 9th career walk-off homer for Dunn, only Pujols & Papi have more. What an un-clutch loser.
  10. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 4, 2013 -> 11:58 PM) Ouch. Seems like a high price for a defenseman that Q downsized to about 5 minutes in the last few playoff games. I love Leddy, but Q doesn't seem to, so at $2.7 M, he better be getting ice time up there with Keith and Hjammer. He was struggling a bit and Boston targeted him in game 4 & 6, so Q kept him off the ice. Kid is still only 22 so I'm not too concerned. He's so good moving the puck and at that number you can keep him around and figure out exactly what you have in him.
  11. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 4, 2013 -> 07:15 PM) Yeah it did. I guess player for player I'm not a fan of it. I think Seguin is a guy who can crack 40 goals a few times before its all said and done. But when you look at the cap its not really a bad deal. Got a player who will score 25-30 goals while making less and got rid of Peverley who is due 3.25M for each of the next 2 years. Now the B's have 9 million for free agency and another 4 million if they use the Savard inury exception. Plus they need to lock up Bergeron and Rask long term. Judging from the rumors around Boston, it sounds like Seguin has a little KANER in him and likes to have fun, that's a main reason the Bruins traded him.
  12. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 09:11 PM) I don't know, but where the f*** did that come from? Surprised the f*** out of me, but for him it's a win-win. Either he succeeds with a storied NBA franchise, or he pockets $22 million and goes back to college where every open job will be calling his name. Crazy that he is only 36.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 09:32 PM) mlbtraderumors talking about Gallardo for Skaggs as a possible deal. If that's true, the Sox desperately need for Peavy to get healthy soon Apparently the DBacks haven't watched any Brewers games this year, because Gallardo has been bad.
  14. QUOTE (farmteam @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 08:37 PM) Re-signed for two years Also, Emery might return Considering how many teams seem to have goalie issues, I'm surprised Emery isn't getting more outside interest.
  15. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 03:06 PM) Or July 19 when there are games again. Or he can sneak into the Home Run Derby and surprisingly strike some sluggers out on national TV!
  16. Maybe Crain can come back July 15, have a couple solid outings and recoup some trade value before the deadline.
  17. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 12:27 PM) CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox will host the Stanley Cup and Chicago Blackhawks alternate captain Patrick Sharp tonight for the White Sox game vs. Baltimore at 6:10 p.m. Sharp and the Stanley Cup will be on the field for a special ceremony prior to the start of the game. Nice, I was at the Cubs/Sox game at Wrigley in 2010 where the Cup and whole Hawks squad showed up, pretty cool moment. Then the game had dueling no-no's, Floyd had his broken up in the 7th, Lilly in the 9th by Juan f***ing Pierre.
  18. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 01:42 PM) People have worked next to mass murderers and had no idea. In no universe do the Patriots want one of their players going to jail for murder. I'm sure they don't, but in the end, other than replacing him on the football field, Hernandez's arrest won't hurt their bottom line. People won't stop watching the Patriots or the NFL because of it.
  19. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 10:28 AM) Its because his contract was agreed to by the Blue Jays. White Sox have never offered him a contract. The no trade clause and the teams listed go back to when he signed the extension with the Blue Jays a number of years ago. That makes sense. He's not very liked up there, so I would think that would be #1 on his list.
  20. He's probably just Cup chasin', he is Canadian after all.
  21. 2013 NHL All-Star first team: C Crosby LW Kunitz RW Ovechkin D Subban D Suter G Bobrovsky Second team: C Toews LW Ovechkin RW St. Louis D Beauchemin D Letang G Lundqvist That's not a misprint
  22. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 11:14 AM) While the long-term contracts on the previous CBA were definitely an unfair circumvention of the rules, the penalties that await if the players retire are even more unfair. Absolutely, talk about indian giving. That probably gives Hossa one, maybe two more years in Chicago before they have to buy him out to avoid any future cap penalties.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 10:15 AM) Comiskey Park Hitmen ‏@CPHSox 2h So Alex Rios can block trades to the Yankees, Diamondbacks, Astros, Rockies, Royals and Athletics. But not the Blue Jays?? (Not that they would ever want him)
  24. QUOTE (Paulstar @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 08:36 AM) I don't see how you can't think this trade is a win for the cubs. They got two good arms for Scott Feldman. The Cubs won't be missing Feldman at all 3 years from now, but the Orioles might be missing Arrieta in 3 years as he still has the potential to become a nasty starting pitcher (his stuff has never been the problem, it has been throwing strikes and learning how to pitch that has caused his lack of success). I don't blame the Orioles for trading Arrieta at all though, it was one of the situations where a change of scenery was definitely needed. Jake Arrieta could be to the Cubs what Chris Davis has been to the Orioles, a reclamation project turned to all-star. Or he could continue to be hot garbage and be out of baseball by 2015. Feldman was just a rental, so getting a lottery ticket out of it is great, and it will never be a bad trade for the Cubs. But it could easily just ended up being a footnote that is quickly forgotten.
