QUOTE (Paulstar @ Jul 8, 2013 -> 11:38 PM) Wow, looking at Kozma, it is surprising he has been as good as he has been in the majors. He was a career .230 hitter in the minors. He must be really good with the glove. He's the new David Eckstein. TWTW is such nonsense, but then you look at guys like Kozma and wonder how else they can succeed in the majors.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 8, 2013 -> 02:38 PM) Now who would they possibly want besides Jesse Crain? I don't think they would trust Reed, to be honest. Their weaknesses are C, 2B and LF, and the bullpen. And Infante has been better this season than 2012. They don't need Keppinger, as they have Ramon Santiago for that role. Yet they trusted Papa Grande?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 8, 2013 -> 02:24 PM) Rios is close to having earned that money. The problem is the mysterious "one of the worst seasons in baseball history" in 2011 that really is a marvel in the middle of his career. If he'd been just "Bad" that season rather than "among the worst in baseball history" he'd have fully earned what the Sox have paid him. And he wasn't even the worst hitter on the team in 2011.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 8, 2013 -> 12:18 PM) Anthony Rizzo sucks. Starlin Castro's OPS now sits at .596. Ouch.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 8, 2013 -> 12:16 PM) I would be shocked if the Sox aren't trying to find a team to send him to. That's what I was just thinking. If the Cubs can get an arm for Scott Hairston, maybe the Sox can get a live body for Wise.

QUOTE (Cknolls @ Jul 8, 2013 -> 11:59 AM) Has nothing to do with weather. Animals will be animals until they are all dead or locked up. These people have no conscience. Give them all guns so the good ones have a chance. Weather does play a part. There's a reason shootings increase so much during the summer, people are outside all the time. If Chicago didn't have a cold winter, shootings would be even higher. It just makes me laugh when they city uses it as an excuse.

Would be nice if the Sox offense could put a dent into Garza's trade value, may help if they trade Peavy. But my expectations are low.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 8, 2013 -> 11:04 AM) 67 people shot in Chicago this weekend. Are we sure this isn't becoming Detroit 2.0? Yet murders are down like 25% from this point in 2012. Last year they blamed the murders on the unseasonably warm weather. I wonder if this year they will credit the cooler weather with the decline in killings.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Jul 7, 2013 -> 09:31 PM) i just dont see Brown's ceiling being higher than Cain. They're really similar players and Cain is younger right (dont remember off the top of my head) I like the Burnett for Cuddyer trade though. IMO Brown >>>> Cain. Cain is 27, Brown is 25 and now he has actually proven something at the major league level, which Cain has yet to do.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 7, 2013 -> 04:27 PM) Wasn't Nick Swisher enough? Rios for Travis Snider would be preferable. Doubt we can get Tabata, because they waited on Alvarez so long to develop and it finally paid off...so they might want to hold onto him. Just realized a couple of things. Morrison has a 992 OPS, albeit in only 70 AB's. He's only 25, feels like he is older. Finally, he went to the same JC as Albert Pujols, Maple Woods in Kansas City. How did the Royals let both of those guys get out of their own backyard? Um, it's the Royals. I'd be more surprised if they had found those two guys.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 7, 2013 -> 10:17 AM) Obviously everyone knows this already but that Miami franchise is a joke. I am all for selling off talent but they got a pile of crap in return. Dodgers picked up the salary, traded 3 less than mediocre prospects, and received international bonus money. What a joke of a franchise. You do realize that Ricky Nolasco sucks, right?

Sale and Crain both on the All-Star team

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 7, 2013 -> 01:10 PM) When's the last time a 5-8 (potentially 5-9) starting pitcher was in the All-Star Game? What has Felix's record been at the AS break recently? -
QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Jul 7, 2013 -> 06:07 PM) There's absolutely no reason to have him on this team unless we feel we want to relive the 2007 nightmare that was Andy Gonzalez. LOL, Wise is not that bad. But I agree that he has no place on this team, no need for a 35-year old reserve when you are playing for the future.

Wow, Machado can do that with the glove too?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 7, 2013 -> 06:11 PM) Why Yasiel Puig must be an All-Star July, 6, 2013 5:43 PM PT By Mark Saxon | ESPNLosAngeles.com If Bruce Bochy was so concerned about Yasiel Puig's short service time when picking All-Star reserves, I wonder whether he looked at these raw numbers: In 30 games, Puig has six more home runs, one more RBI and just 11 fewer runs scored than Marco Scutaro, who is -- somehow -- an All-Star. So, in 42 percent of the games Scutaro has played in, Puig has done about as much to help his team score as Scutaro has while playing 32 more games than the Los Angeles Dodgers rookie. What a stupid comparison, Scutaro plays 2B, Puig doesn't. The rest of the 2B in the NL suck, somebody has to play the position.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 7, 2013 -> 12:05 PM) Andy Murray now has won Wimbledon, US Open, and the Olympics and I'm happy for him. Hopefully in the US Open we get better showings from Nadal/Federer. It's funny how quickly he becomes British instead of Scottish

Will the Sox Eat Salary to Bring More Talent

QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 7, 2013 -> 09:06 AM) With or without Dunn, I'd be surprised if the Sox do better than 4-15 vs the Tigers. Given our luck, the Sox will probably go 11-8 against them this year when it means nothing. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 6, 2013 -> 09:48 PM) Dunn whiffed 2 more times today. Is he starting a Dunn-like streak of whiffs (three yesterday) now that we're on the road again? No.

7/6 White Sox vs. Rays (Sale vs. Moore)

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 6, 2013 -> 09:56 PM) You think the Sox will win a series on the road again this season? Maybe the one in KC in August since roles are reversed now with KC being .500ish and the Sox patsies. Yes -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 6, 2013 -> 09:53 PM) He stunk that entire first season with the Sox. Why haven't we traded him yet?? I still think it's going to be tough to deal him. He has a Jose Guillen type vibe to him. We shall see who is right and who is wrong re. Rios. I say we get very little for him; we'll see if you guys are right. That entire first season was 41 games

Hey fathom, Travis Wood is an All-Star!

Its so like the Dodgers nowadays to trade for an overrated starter. At some point, the results mean more than his stuff does.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 6, 2013 -> 04:57 PM) I was referring to their rotation's best ERA in baseball And Garcia is out for the year, Shelby Miller is on pace to majorly surpass his previous high in innings, do you really trust Jake Westbrook to keep his ERA under 3? They have been the best rotation, but they do need help if they want win it all.
