QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 24, 2013 -> 08:31 AM) Chevron oil is facing a $19 billion fine in Ecuador for literally destroying a large portion of the country and so far the West is protecting the company and its shareholders from payment and prosecution. Somehow someway it always comes back to oil.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 09:21 AM) There was a foreign basketball player, Slobodan Jankovic,(playing in Greece)that was playing in their championship game. They were losing and he was called for a foul, he lost his temper and he grabbed the base of the hoop and rammed his head into it, and broke his neck. I nominate that number one. http://www.nytimes.com/1993/04/30/sports/s...ming-block.html He is in a wheelchair now Holy f***. I did not need to start my Monday morning by watching that.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 12:27 PM) Just saw some blurb that Ecuador announced via twitter that Snowden had contacted them seeking asylum. What is Ecuador's gameplan with hosting these international fugitives?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 12:25 PM) I don't know how Moscow is any worse than Hong Kong? Today the Russian government is much more trustworthy than China's.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 08:15 PM) What makes them the best division is that there are no bad teams, but I wouldn't say any team in that division is great. The NL Central has three teams with better records than the best team in the AL East. It depends on your point of view. I'd take the cream of the NL Central over the consistency of the AL East. Those teams are good, but they are helped by the suckiness of the Cubs & Brewers. St. Louis is 12-4 against those two teams. Cincinnati is 15-4. Pittsburgh is 12-7.

QUOTE (G&T @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 07:15 PM) There's no indication that he isn't traveling with the team. He was on the bench the whole period. It looked like a likely concussion but there's really no evidence of that based on the team's handling of the situation. He was apparently posing with fans for pictures after the game. Sitting on the bench with all the bright lights and noise probably isn't the best way to treat a concussion, so I agree that it might be something different. They usually take those guys into a dark quiet room. I enjoyed that Julien called Bergeron's injury a "body" injury. -
You = Hahn. Do you heavily shop Reed, Yes or No?

only if we get a ton more than he's worth -
QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 02:26 PM) Blue Jays are going to win 11 in a row. That's one way of getting back into it. Maybe the Sox should try that. Or maybe a 26-5 like a few years ago. Despite the "down" years from Boston & New York, the AL East is the best division in baseball again.

And that's a White Sox winner !

QUOTE (jthunder93 @ Jun 22, 2013 -> 06:02 PM) Believe it or not, the Padres are now in second place in the NL West. The tallest midget gets a playoff spot too

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 22, 2013 -> 08:33 AM) Christopher Kamka @ckamka 8h Happy 38th birthday, Esteban Yan. Allowed inside the park HR to Paul Konerko, and allowed a HR to Jon Garland. In the same MLB career. Milhouse's favorite baseball player! -
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 21, 2013 -> 10:22 PM) Pretty sure we can't . It was discussed in one of the trade threads but someone would have to sign him to a contract he has zero chance of getting. We would have to offer him a one-year, $13.3 million contract. He would accept that in a second, never gonna happen.

5 days late, but an awesome episode of VEEP last weekend.

Payback for last year. If the Sox aren't making the playoffs, neither are the Royals.
-
QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Jun 21, 2013 -> 07:16 PM) Why are the Royals your most hated team? I'm so sick of hearing about their prospects and how the Royals are about to blow up and win the freaking World Series. (Especially from half of Soxtalk) Meanwhile, they are still the Royals, a franchise that hasn't made the playoffs since the start of Reagan's second term.
