  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 10, 2013 -> 10:35 AM) Leading the lead in scoring has to count for something. It does. The Art Ross Trophy.
  2. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 10, 2013 -> 09:36 AM) You're providing things for free...they should be happy with any pair of Bears tickets you provide. That's what I was thinking too, but people get greedy out there, lol. And like ss2k's comment, the clientle I am dealing is one that would be appreciative.
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 10, 2013 -> 09:53 AM) Crosby missed like 15 games in a shortened season. Yes, he was a monster, but that matters. How Stamkos AND St. Louis miss the ballot is beyond me. Tampa was the 3rd worst team in the league. I know their defense was mostly to blame, but you aren't gonna get many MVP votes when your team is that bad.
  4. Crosby, Ovechkin, & Tavares are your Hart Trophy finals. Would have liked to see #19 up there, but can't complain about those picks.
  5. Figured this was as good a place as any to ask this. A customer of mine throws a company golf outing for their employees every year. They ask vendors to provide prizes and/or donations for a raffle and door prizes. In the past, we always just sent them a check for a couple hundred bucks. This year I was thinking about donating a pair of our Bears tickets to one game, but I am debating two issues in my head. It's a manufacturing company, so I'd bet the majority of employees are blue collar factory/warehouse workers. 1. Not sure which games I will have available. Would it look bad on us if we gave tickets to a preseason game instead of a regular season game? 2. The seats are near the very top of the 400 level at the goal line. IMO, the view is fine (as most seats in the stadium), but you gotta hike up 30+ rows to get up there. Is the allure of free Bears tickets worth the fact that the tickets aren't premium? A bit worried someone would say, "ABC company provided these Bears tickets, but the seats were s***ty as hell!"
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 9, 2013 -> 10:50 PM) Do the Dodgers or Angels have anything great to give up for Konerko, Rios and Peavy or any combinations of those 3? It seems to me they have the money and might need a leader like Konerko, an athlete like Rios or a bulldog like Peavy. Can we rob them? If they had great players to give up, they wouldn't have had to spend $200 million on other teams' players.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 9, 2013 -> 10:06 PM) Crawford has to be the MVP of this series. His 1st period was the key to game 5. Wild had some good chances, he stone walled them, then once the Hawks got on the board it took the wind out of their sails. 12 wins to go!
  8. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 6, 2013 -> 04:28 PM) Parenthood was picked up for a 5th season, very nice. I catch it sometimes while my wife watches. It gets pretty deep emotionally, it can make a grown man cry.
  9. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 9, 2013 -> 02:41 PM) So, is Scott Kazmir "back"? Absolutely. And you can bet he will be "back" on the DL by the All-Star break
  10. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 9, 2013 -> 12:23 PM) Phegley = Posey Flowers = Panda
  11. They found the "lady" who flipped off Noah. She has an interesting story in her past.
  12. The Giants have won two of the last three World Series with a bunch of good young pitching and only two guys who could hit.
  13. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ May 9, 2013 -> 06:57 AM) Looks like Evan Gordon (Erics brother) will be transferring from ASU to play his final season closer to home. It looks like it will be Indiana, as they have an open scholarship. Good move for this year, and even better for the future. Eron Gordon is a 2016 recruit that will likely be a top 3 recruit in the nation. Playing up with the 17 year olds this year, he's just dominating putting up close to 25PPG in AAU. A lot like his brother Eric. Gordon? BOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
  14. QUOTE (zenryan @ May 9, 2013 -> 09:34 AM) Yeah I'm pretty sure Reimer's wife was staring at the guy who stood up. He must have said something. Yeah, they both seem to roll their eyes at what the guy said. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 9, 2013 -> 09:27 AM) They are both so hot This is all that matters in the end.
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 9, 2013 -> 09:21 AM) I'm so old and responsible now. Three years ago I'd have been blackout drunk excited for as many overtimes as possible. Last night? Sleeping like a baby. Tell me about it. I made it halfway through the 2nd of DET/ANA and I was proud of myself. The 8:30 Hawks start times ruin any chances of staying up the other nights. Having a child has made me realize how awesome afternoon after-work naps were. I really took those for granted.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 8, 2013 -> 11:20 PM) Well, why haven't the White Sox gone to the playoffs for most of the last decade? It doesn't have anything to do with the Twins and Tigers? We will blame it all on losses to the Indians or Royals? When you have a great team in your division, doesn't that dramatically decrease your opportunity to make the playoffs? Why didn't Torii Hunter lead them past the Rangers then? If you can't win 90 games in a season, your odds of making the playoffs greatly diminish. The White Sox had one 90-win season and failed to make the playoffs, every other year they just weren't good enough. Same thing with the Angels now, they just haven't been good enough the last 4 years. They started slowly last year too.
  17. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 8, 2013 -> 10:20 PM) How in the hell did the passenger get in the car and let that person drive? I think the same thing happened in the crash with the ex-Illini football players. Brent was driving drunk, Brown was sober and died as the passenger.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 8, 2013 -> 09:57 PM) Well, it might have something to do with the fact that the Rangers were arguably the best or second best team in baseball during that time period. The Angels went 10-9 vs. Texas last year and still didn't win 90 games. They won 86 in 2011 & 80 in 2010. They couldn't even win the Wild Card once. What does any of that have to do with the Rangers?
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 8, 2013 -> 09:20 PM) Interesting situation. They don't have the pitching (Weaver's out), the bullpen's nothing like it was in the heyday of Shields/K-Rod, but when you have that kind of payroll, something better than 11 games under .500 is rightfully expected. Can losing Torii Hunter's leadership hurt THAT much? They missed the playoffs in 2010, 2011, & 2012. Where was Torii Hunter's leadership then?
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ May 8, 2013 -> 08:58 PM) Meanwhile, Pedro Hernandez continues his dominance against the Red Sox in his career. His team will have a .500 record in games where he starts vs the Red Sox.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 8, 2013 -> 11:44 AM) He wouldn't have much choice, as long as he was on a major league roster. Look at how long the Giants had to stick with Zito before he finally came around and turned the corner to be a productive pitcher again. That was after Zito was bad for a long time, so they had no choice. Danks just signed the contract, you need to see if his arm is healthy and if he can be productive as a starter.
  22. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 8, 2013 -> 09:23 AM) I know that. And they never faced a team with equal talent. In the years Jordan was gone, all you needed was one star and a few role players to win/get to the finals. You can't just write off 60% of the championships from the decade. The most dominant team had 2-1/2 stars. I won't even bring up Olajuwon/Drexler or Duncan/Robinson.
  23. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 8, 2013 -> 09:09 AM) 2005: Duncan/Parker/Manu 2006: Shaq/Wade 2007: Duncan/Parker/Manu 2008: KG/Pierce/Allen 2009: Kobe/Gasol/Bynum/Odom 2010: See 2009 2012: James/Wade/Bosh So as you can see, 2011 was clearly an exception. And even then you had a future DPOY and perennial 6th man of the year candidate to go pair with Dirk. In today's NBA, you need 2 1/2 stars to get anywhere in this league. You didn't need that in the 90's. Jordan - Pippen - Grant/Rodman That's 2-1/2 stars by my calculations.
