Desperate times call for...three bold moves
LittleHurt05 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If the Braves traded for Adam Dunn right now, their GM should be fired, tarred, & feathered and forever banned from all levels of baseball. -
QUOTE (flavum @ May 12, 2013 -> 11:49 AM) Holmberg's got an ERA under 2 at AA. #cantletitgo And Hudson hasn't given up an earned run in nearly 11 months.
-
Late to the party, but the Americans finale was great. And I would like to go Inside Amy Schumer.
-
Bump. At least Adam Dunn walks and hits homers while hitting under .200. 30 games is a small sample size, but man does Keppinger suck.
-
QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ May 11, 2013 -> 11:22 PM) When Pierzynski signed with the Rangers, my Dad was extremely upset. I told him we need to give Flowers a chance. He responded with "Are you kidding, we are stuck with another Ron Karkovice" Moral of the story here is, my old man knows his baseball and I was wrong. Flowers is indeed crap. He would make a decent backup but he has proven to us that he is not a good every day catcher. His defense is well below average and he can't hit water if he jumped out of a boat. The fact that we have two guys on our starting lineup hitting below .200 is an absolute joke! This team's current standing is a reflection of Hahn pretty much sitting on his hands this past winter. If we had signed AJ, we would still be an under .500 team and would have wasted 2014 testing Flowers. If he is this bad, it's good to know while the team appears to suck.

QUOTE (zenryan @ May 11, 2013 -> 01:14 PM) A lot of people liked the Blues. They just got matched up with a team that is perfect for playoff hockey. I'd still put that at the third best team in the West when it comes to the playoff teams. I agree. I was hoping the Sharks or Wings would win, cause I sure as hell didn't want the Hawks to play the winner of the STL/LA series. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ May 11, 2013 -> 01:42 PM) Bolland and Emery to return for Wings/Sharks series. In practice today, Bolland took Stalberg's spot on the 3rd line and our old friend Ben Smith replaced Saad on the top line. -
QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ May 11, 2013 -> 01:25 AM) Holliday & Beltran were not cheap. Holliday was not. But Beltran was 2 years, $26 million, that's nothing for a FA. If it doesn't work out, it's easy to drop him. Deals like that is what they seem to excel at, same thing with when they signed Berkman. They do spend in free agency, I meant that they don't overspend on guys. (Other than Holliday maybe.)

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ May 10, 2013 -> 11:14 PM) Sounds scary. Let me guess, a Computer Science major?
-
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ May 10, 2013 -> 11:01 PM) Not a Bears fan, but yeah, I got July and 2 weeks of August to entertain myself before I go back to school. 6-7 long weeks without sports. That's when you enjoy Chicago summer and get out of the house!
-
During the Boston Marathon case, there was discussion about how awful it would be for a public defender to be forced to defend a terrorist. Personally, I think defending Dzhohkar Tsarnev would be 100x easier than trying to protect someone like Ariel Castro.
-
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ May 10, 2013 -> 10:53 PM) I don't know WTF I'll do once the Hawks are done this summer. The Hawks won't be done til late, late June. Enjoy a month of Chicago summer and partying with the Cup, then it's Bears season.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 10, 2013 -> 10:46 PM) TWTW is not helping the Bulls record W's of late. LOL. The 2013 Bulls are the all-time leader in TWTW, but its just not enough.
-
f*** you Keppinger. Swing the bat
-
QUOTE (flavum @ May 10, 2013 -> 10:44 PM) Twins still playing. 63 in Minneapolis. Gonna be in the 80s next week in Chicago, thank god for the normal 3-game homestand
-
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ May 10, 2013 -> 10:41 PM) I guess Robin didn't feel like checking the splits on Frieri. LH are hitting like .085 against him. RH are hitting .261. THANKS FOR DOING YOUR HOMEWORK, ROBIN. Go away with your statistics. TWTW is all that matters in the 9th inning!

I didn't realize the Sox were still playing. Rally Cap time!!!
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 10, 2013 -> 10:35 PM) If Toronto would make up the difference, maybe it would be a wise trade. Mark would return to form in an easy division like the Sox's. And Rios is good, but if the team is not a contender it'd be nice to have Mark back as sort of a player/coach. Sure, everyone would take Mark back at half his salary. But it's not gonna happen. And you do realize that Rios still gets booooed every time he bats in Toronto, right? That's the last guy Toronto would trade for. And the Sox need bats, not arms.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 10, 2013 -> 10:30 PM) Serious question. Would Toronto take a Rios for Mark trade man for man right now? Who cares. The White Sox wouldn't offer that. Mark is due $37 million over 2014/2015. With the buyout, Rios is due $13.5 mil.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 10, 2013 -> 10:07 PM) Cano would be an incredible fit there if he hits free agency and Cards decide to use the money coming off the books on a superstar. That's true, but after Jay-Z signed him, he will be a Yankee for life.

Zetterberg & Datsuyk just won't go away, game 7 on Sunday. Quack quack. -
QUOTE (fathom @ May 10, 2013 -> 09:56 PM) So far, Shelby Miller has been fantastic this season. I envy the Cardinals organization. They never rebuild , yet they never spend in free agency. They just constantly produce winners either with guys from their system or very shrewd FA signings.
-
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ May 10, 2013 -> 06:54 PM) Outside of pitching I don't think this organization has a decent ability to scout, draft and develop players. New ownership is what is needed. This guy has all the f***ing answers. Fire Reinsdorf!
-
QUOTE (High Mileage @ May 10, 2013 -> 06:03 PM) Jeremy Guthrie continues his dominance as a Royal. They are now unbeaten in his last 18 starts. He's now 5-0 in 7 starts this season, with 6 of them being "quality starts". Royals begin a 3-game series with the Yankees tonight. Hosmer, Moustakas, and Perez have all been starting to hit. If you look at his career numbers, he was actually pretty decent considering that he was on a s***ty Orioles team in the then-powerhouse AL East. Three seasons of under 4 ERA in that situation is not easy. His brutal stretch in Coors Field kind of ruined his reputation, but he's not as awful as everyone seems to make him out to be.
-
QUOTE (flavum @ May 10, 2013 -> 12:54 PM) I think Barry Enright is starting. Yup Jeff Fletcher @JeffFletcherOCR #Angels announce Barry Enright will start tonight in place of Tommy Hanson, who is dealing with aftermath of step-brother's death

Which of the remaining May "tentpole" movies do you most wan

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 10, 2013 -> 01:17 PM) Ugh, who chose Hangover III? The first was so overrated (ok, not great) and the second was atrocious. I did. They both made me laugh a lot and entertained me for two hours. Sometimes that's all that matters with a movie, it doesn't have to be a "good" movie. And I've never seen a single Star Trek episode, don't care about Gatsby, and had no idea there were any more Fast & Furious after Tokyo Drift.
