Official 2008-2009 NFL Thread
whitesoxbrian replied to ChiSox_Sonix's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Lost so much respect the guy, I made this: Enjoy. -
Carlos Gomez is clearly going to be the best offensive player in this league. His high OBP, his great SB technique, and his very good hitting for average and power ability will carry him over the top. Gomez and Kubel, who has a chance to be a great hitter and most certainly will, will most likely finish 1-2 in the MVP voting for the next 16 years.

Have 4 kids. Name them: Scott Paul (last name) Joseph Geoff (last name) Kenneth Ozzie (last name) AJ Jermaine (last name) Ok the last one sucked but you get the idea.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 10:50 PM) I did in the game thread tonight and a few times before. Thanks wsbrian! Sorry, could only make it on here toward the end of the game. No problem.

QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 09:44 PM) The last two losses were pathetic but they didn't really upset me that much. We should have gotten Monday's game with our ace pitcher against a guy who we've destroyed earlier in the season. Instead we just rolled over and vomited all over ourselves. Not that I really expected it, but not getting any pitching help is really going to cost us this division. I don't think this team has enough pitching to win the race. No worries, our #1 is on the mound tomorrow.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 09:43 PM) I brought this up a couple days ago...it pretty much reached my melting point tonight. Somehow, someway I'm gonna find that friggin Hawk and BJ email during telecasts on comcast and rip away. I already sent one to Ozzie saying as much too. I'm sick of this s***. I honestly am looking forward to BJ being gone and Stone in the booth to keep Hawk a little bit more in the real world. And for as much as I've defended Swisher this year...I'm sick of his s*** too. Sit. The. Hell. Down. for a while. I've been pissed after games before...but not like this one. [email protected] Should have asked...

For some reason, I'm starting to believe Ozzie when he says Morneau is the best hitter in baseball. Power and average guy- can't pitch him in because he'll step backwards and crush it, and if you pitch him out, he'll hit a soft single, liner in the gap, or a bomb over the fence. But, whatever. We all wanted to be in 1st after the series and we are. If we can't win the series vs KC, then we'll be in trouble. BTW- if a guy who was baseball illiterate had turned the game on right when they showed Kubel celebrating with the players after his HR, he'd think they had just won it all.

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 10:18 PM) The only thing that was predictable was the f***ing bullpen diarrhea attack. Gardy didn't have anything to do with Thornton and Dotel tossing meatballs up to the plate on fastball counts. f***in duh... Time to call up the minor leaguers. Give me Link, Rodriguez, give me someone new with some potential who hasn't s*** the bed already. No more Russell. And get Logan out of here until he can throw strikes. Yuck. Today was not the day to roll over and die. 1. Agreed. But Gardenhire was smart to come out and burn time away. That gave the Twins the momentum. 2. Don't throw in the towel just yet. We should be able to win 2/3 or 3/3 in KC. Although, Minnesota's next 3 series's are Seattle, Cleveland, and some other bum-@$$ team. 3. OMGGGZZZ BASH HIM, HE SAID WE'RE DEAD!!!!!!11111 -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 10:15 PM) He's the best manager in baseball, and it's not even close. Never said he wasn't. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 10:16 PM) Yes, and the Tigers too if I'm not mistaken. I would think that's a key factor for why we got him. We only play MIN 3 more times. Hopefully, those games don't mean jack. But with our play now, they'll mean everything. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 10:15 PM) it was predictable to me when it was 4-0 and then morneau made it 4-3, once danks walked span in the 7th i knew it was over. Pretty much. We weren't going to win by a run in hell. -

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this was predictable after the Gardenhire meltdown. -

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 10:11 PM) at least there's no other single team in all of baseball that plays this poorly in the metrodome do the angels play the twins at all at the dome after tonight? No. -

Good thing is Brian Anderson is riding pine. It's also good to know Morneau is about to come up and hit another ball 7000 mph. -

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 09:22 AM) Wow, smart move. Looks like a lot of people now want to work for the Blackhawks. Any word on what Red Wings fans think? On letsgowings.com, many of them are sad and in particular find it off he'd go to Chicago. One guy's quote: -
I don't see why we'd move Dye to 1B- nobody wants to move Q to RF or CF because 1. he probably will struggle and 2. he is a hitting machine in LF, so why move Dye?

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 03:47 PM) Swish might be taking #1 to give Jr. #30. Yeah, just heard that on the SC update on 1000. -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 02:52 PM) They clearly won this deal, what else could they have gotten? Meanwhile the Dodgers continue to draw huhs? from the baseball community. They're going for the NLW crown- I can't blame them for wanting to win now.

Griffey will wear #17. -
Wow. All these years- when I think of the Sawx, I think of Manny. B****ed in an attempt to get out of Boston before 2004, it never happened. After he won that title and another last year, I thought he'd be a Sawck for life. Good luck to Manny in LA. D-Backs- THEY GONE!

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 10:27 PM) I didn't say he throws 142 MPH, but 93 MPH is faster than the average major league fastball...that's hard, isn't it? I mean, do you want to split hairs and say he only throws semi-hard or not so soft or what? If you got hit by his fastball, you'd fall to the ground and wince in pain. I'm not trying to be Captain Wise-A** here, but when I think of hard, I think 95+. If Massett throws a moving 92-93 mph fastball right down the shoot, it has a good chance of going 400 feet, while a 95+ mph fastball right down the shoot is tougher. And yes, 2-3+ mph does make a difference.
