QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 11:03 PM) Micah Owings has to be the most overrated pitcher in baseball. Maybe he'll pull an Ankiel. Owings is a better hitter than pitcher, IMO.

All I know is that I love the idea of possibility getting Lowe and Roberts? However, getting rid of Uribe when he seems to be comfortable at the plate for somebody like Alex Cora doesn't do me any good. Keep Juan, IMO.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 10:11 PM) No, I took the day off and went to New York today (I'm back home now). I live near Baltimore, so I took the Amtrak to NYC as I do every now and again. Let me put it this way - Yankee Stadium is sort of like Wrigley. The park has lots of personality and history, but its age definitely shows, and it looks like a dump compared to modern ballparks like Camden Yards, the Cell, etc. The concessions are overpriced "meh" and the sight lines/seats are awful. It's no wonder they're tearing it down. I will say whatever stereotype people have about Yankee fans from ESPN and the internet probably isn't true though. I mean there are those who meet the stereotype b/c of the sheer size of the fanbase but most of them are actual baseball fans. Have you ever been to Fenway? I haven't. If you have, what did you think of it?

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 06:54 PM) What did C.J. Wilson do? Last time he pitched vs the Sox, he got knocked around a little but still managed the save and showed a bunch of emotion. Ozzie thought he was showing the team up. Today, he gave up a 400 foot HR to Q.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 03:20 PM) I agree. Just looking at the hitters, it would be a race of Hamilton-Q-Bradley-Kinsler-Sizemore, maybe even Morneau. Unless some just has INSANE numbers, which Hamilton could keep up, it should come from a winning team, which leaves Q and Morneau. If the Yanks make any sort of run at all or better, A-Rod will most certainly be in the discussion. EDIT- You guys beat me to it. Miguel Cabrera could be in the running too if Detroit wins the division, wild card, or gives us/Minnesota a run.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 05:40 PM) Hamilton's a better story than Andre Dawson was in 1987. Hamilton will win if his stats are better than Quentin's. Then Chipper should win in the NL, right? The way it's defined is most valuable, not best player. Hamilton is the best player, but Q has carried this team with a little help from Dye, and our team is in 1st while Hamilton's is in 2nd by 8-11 games.

QUOTE (rangercal @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 05:47 PM) BTW, before the hold out, I was all for Hester getting an extension. But no where near 6/45. I would be in favor of something like 6/30. A couple months back it was reported he was looking for something in the Berrian range. However, I'd be more in favor of 4-5 years and 5-7 per, just because one knee injury and he'll never be the same when he relies on his legs more than anyone. Atleast if it's 4-5 years we won't be wrapped up giving up 6-8 per for 6-8 years. -

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jul 22, 2008 -> 11:47 PM) Um, because that's a really great comparison? Now you're grasping. Why isn't it? He said the outdoor game wasn't official when everyone knew it was going to happen, and now they set up the rink in the outfield the same way my picture showed and now he's saying it isn't official. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 02:47 PM) Tillman's locked up and Dvoracek has been injured his two years, don't know why they wouldn't be there. I'm glad that Williams is here, and the Bears would be dumb to not have seen Hester holding out. Me neither. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 04:07 PM) I'll be honest, I regretted immediately not using inconsistent. What he said. QQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQ

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 03:54 PM) CQ get a curtain call? Yeah. Fairly long one. Tip of the helmet, look to his left, took a step down, with helmet still in air- looked to the left. You can call me the curtain call analyst.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 03:53 PM) So, again, looking back at the f***ing freak that is TCQ, the look on his face after that HR is etched into my memory. He looked determined, pissed and all sorts of things. Is that the final clip they'll show on ESPN when they do his MVP montage?

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 03:41 PM) I dont know though. Gavin always pitches well against Detroit and i'm really not scared of Miner. Plus we have Danks going one of the games. I totally forgot about Gavin's success against Detroit. Last year I believe he had 3 wins, his only 3 wins, all against the Tigers, and this year he almost no-hit them. Apologies.
