2 shut outs in 4 games vs a rookie SP and a medicore SP. WORLD SERIES OMGGZZZZ GOODBYE 1908 HELLO 2008!!!!!!!!111
-
Just for sh*ts and giggles, we should just vote for Griffey to be on the September wallpaper.

K-Rod comes in with a 5-1 LAA lead in the 9th and gives up 4 runs. Angels still win 6-5, though.

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 12:11 AM) He broke the all time home run record at my high school stadium. I think it was 73 or something held by Drew Henson nation wide. I was at bat in Marshalltown, where he's from when they announced it, so that's my micro piece of history with him. I know they were obviously amazing, but to go back and hear about what some current or past professionals, in any sport, did in high school is something else.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 11:49 PM) No, we'll just use it as the secret weapon if they take over 1st place again. Think of it as the anti-Brewers thread from last year. I see what you're saying.

QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 11:44 PM) I wish I could be at the cell tomorrow to see Griffey's home debut. I bet it'll be electric. Don't know if they showed it on TV, but when BA came in to PR for him on Friday in KC, the Sox fans (all 8K of us) and Royals fans (all 7K of them) gave him a standing O and he saluted the crowd. I can only imagine what it'll be like tomorrow... -
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 11:45 PM) I'm going to take great pleasure locking this b****. Since it's been open the Twins will be 0-1. Keep it open until they start winning.

QUOTE (JFields27 @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 10:27 PM) just about to post this, great news .. I wish this game could be on tv somewhere, anyways thanks WSBrian for putting that game in the bag Anytime. BTW- I'm loving the fact that MIN has already used 3 guys out of the bullpen and they're not even out of the 7th yet.

QUOTE (DBAH0 @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 02:14 PM) Long - term I can't really see a future for Josh on the Sox. With KW looking for hitters with good OBP skills (hence the OC and Swish acquisitons) having Fields and his sub .300 OBP in the lineup is not something I can see happening. My guess is, we'll target Casey Blake in the off-season, or might enquire about Adrian Beltre possibly, if Seattle's asking price does come down. Beltre's OBP career-wise is around .320 although his lifetime BA is hovering around .270. Along with the rest of the M's he's having an off year. I think I could tolerate that from a #6 or #7 hitter, though. Blake's OBP career-wise is around .335 and his lifetime BA is around .265. That is nothing special, either. Which is why I was hoping those extension talks with my boy Cristian Guzman and the Nats would end which they didn't- the past 2 seasons his OBP has been .333 and .380, and his BA is .303 this year and was, I believe, .328 last year. Instead, I think we'll go with my other boy, Adam Dunn, who is an OBP machine similar to Thome (if Thome doesn't get his PAs).

QUOTE (JFields27 @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 10:11 PM) Game Delayed again in the Bottom of the 8th. There was some nasty thunder and lightning, that sounded sweet on tv, but all the players scattered away and the rain came. Updates to come Did you see Berkman? LMAO

QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 01:18 PM) Go Buckeyes and Salukis!!!!!! God I cannot wait for the season to start! I can't wait until my Trojans eat OSU's lunch. Maualuga>Beanie McKnight>Lauranitis Let the trash talking begin. USC over UGA in the title game. -
6-0 Twins in the 7th. Ballgame. Or not. Ibanez just hit a slam to make it 6-5 with an out in the 7th. Make that 6-6.

In Minnesota, Count had a side session and Coop says he looked A++. It was a side session though, so take it for what it's worth. -

QUOTE (JFields27 @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 10:08 PM) Wait, I am going to need someone to agree on this with me, but I believe CSN just said the game tomorrow is being called by Hawk and Dan Plesac I used to like listening to Plesac. Until he said Rich Harden will eat up innings for the Cubs. -
What player would you most like to have seen play for Sox?

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 02:19 PM) The only one I'd really be interested in out of that entire group would be Hudson. Durham would be alright for a 1 year deal. But, I want absolutely no part of Ellis or Grudz, and Gooch won't be brought back. If you want Ellis-like production, I guarantee you Getz could hit .235 with 10 homers and 30 rbi, like Ellis is doing so far this year. Same with Iguchi. What's with the dislike for Grudzielanek? He mashes LHPs and his AVG alone is always hovering around .300. He'd be a great #2, #8, or #9 hitter. BTW- what does everyone think of possibly bringing back Garland, at the right price?

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 12:46 AM) I am going to jackoff all over this board if the Sox are 4.5 games in first place, because I'll be able to rub it in Frankensteiner's face and because the Sox are 4.5 games in first place. Someone will probably have to keep me in check. Not that I want to see it, but I'd love to see them get that far up ahead again in 1st. Although, that is going to be very tough especially since every SP for Minnesota has an ERA under 4.3 (I think).

QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 11:28 PM) Olivo's a b****? How about Carrasco who lays his hand on Miguel's head in an apparent attempt to bless him or something. Yeah, I hope that 91 mph pitch didn't hurt too much.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 11:31 PM) I meant Gavin and I have no idea why I put Havy. "3:30 in the morning, not a soul in sight" is a lyric from one of the greatest songs of all time. Some Mos Def song, right? WIN! -
Just got back from all 3 games: Game 1- fun game, Javy pitched well. Good to see we don't have to hit shots and bombs to win (all 12 hits were singles). Game 2- crappy until the comeback, every Sox fan around us thought Ramirez's was gone. Mark pitched like poop. Good effort, Indians did us a favor. Game 3- crappy all around effort, I'm sure the 107 heat index was the excuse. Richard isn't ready yet. Olivo is a b*tch- go get 'em Tuesday.
