QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 01:13 AM) why are Odalis Perez and Casey Blake so cool? I've never understood. Blake's a good hitter, but he's a terrible defender...you may as well go with Fields since atleast he'll be cheaper. Odalis Perez is having his first good season in years and years and he's doing it in a pitcher's park in a very weak NL where there's no pressure at all, and on top of it all, his season isn't really even that good as he's averaging just 5.1 IP per start. I'd be surprised as hell if he kept his ERA under 5 in the AL and want nothing to do with a 5th starter who doesn't atleast eat a good amount of innings (in order of importance, I'd look for quality, upside, and endurance/durability). I don't know that Odalis Perez really offers any of those. I don't know what KW has planned but I do know that if Odalis Perez and Casey Blake are on your wish list, you are probably a fan of the Kansas City Royals too, because that's something they should be satisfied with. Well, I'd rather not pay 10 million a year for the injury riddled, HGH freak Hank Blalock nor the injury riddled Chipper Jones. Unless we trade what is left of our farm for Adrian Beltre, I'm not sure who would be at 3B for us next year.

After Washburn and Byrd, KW is looking at this list

Could my boy Odalis Perez still clear waivers for Washington? LHP and his ERA is 4.1. We could have a L, R, L, R, L rotation from here on out and then use him or Vazquez in the El Duque role when we get to October... -
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 12:28 AM) Which Hudson has done this season, over Grudz You do understand he is 38 and is probably out for the season, right? I was referring to career-wise. Alot of people here may have a bias for Hudson over Grudzielanek just because Hudson is probably the most likeable guy in baseball- along with 2 current Sox: Thome and Swisher. I know he is 38, and that injury was against the Sox and I was there, so I know. Again, that may be a reason to stay away from him is that a leg injury this late in his career is tough to come back from. But- doesn't Hudson get hurt every year, whether it's a major injury or a minor injury? If we have an offseason of Odalis Perez, Grudz/Hudson, and Casey Blake, I'll be satisfied.

Why are they showing USA vs SAF in Badminton rather then USA vs Angola in basketball? -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 12:41 AM) f*** that Although Hudson has the higher OPS, FP, and OBP lifetime, I want the guy who is going to hit higher a year and who is going to show up a year.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 03:21 PM) Slim pickings for the Hawks single-game tickets today. I wanted just one game for sure, vs. the Bruins on November 12th. They had no 20-dollar seats left, so I had to grab 40-dollar seats. I'll have to rely on family and friends to get to a few more games this year. I heard most games are sold out? Thank God for getting season tickets just in time. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 07:42 PM) for whatever reason I forgot that Augie Ojeda started for the DBacks in the postseason last year. ODog needs to stop getting hurt. I hope the DBacks don't want him back so that the Sox can pick him up in the offseason; he'd be fantastic. Not if he's going to keep getting hurt- I'd take Grudzielanek for 1 or 2 years.

QUOTE (Chet Lemon @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 05:16 PM) Before the season, if you would have told me the following would happen: Crede gets hurt and Fields loses out on the starting 3B job to Juan Uribe Brian Anderson splits backup CF duties w/ someone named Dewayne Wise DJ Carrassco becomes the team's 5th starter when Count goes down Then I would have told you we'd have another top 8 pick. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 05:27 PM) How about: Gavin Floyd would be 12-6 with an ERA under 4 in mid August John Danks would be 9-4 with an ERA in the low 3's in mid August Carlos Quentin would be the leading MVP Candidate in the AL in mid August Alexei Ramirez would be perhaps 2nd in AL rookie of the year in mid August, playing everyday at 2B and hitting over .300 Ken Griffey Jr. would be on the team, and struggling to find playing time in mid August Paul Konerko would have missed time and have a .690 OPS in mid August Javy Vazquez, after least season, would have an ERA of 4 and 3/4 in mid August The White Sox would be in first place in mid August Then I would of told you we'd be 5-10 games up in 1st. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 05:46 PM) Carlos Quentin is good. Ken Griffey is better!!!!!!1

Why not Mike Aviles?

Nothing you could do here. Our bullpen just isn't very good and Beckett was back to his old ways today. BTW- Frankensteiner: that stretch isn't here right now where everyone thought we'd gain ground, it's coming up when Minnesota has a 14 game "roady" which includes 4 in Oakland and 4 in Anaheim. BTW- Ken Griffey sucks.

Now, I don't know if I want ARZ or LAD getting the Cubs in the 1st round...
-
The Twins also have 3 4 game series's left on the road- Oakland, Anaheim, and Tampa.
-
I just made my case for Quentin in the MLB forums on SportingNews, all have which been covered here.

QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 10:59 PM) I thought I was the only one that caught that. Apparently, bets are confusing to Jenks and Floyd. Maybe Jenks had more confidence in Gavin then Gavin did in Gavin??

I don't know d*ck about swimming but when I watched Phelps go nuts and the announcer cream all over himself, I knew I saw something special. To get 5th and still break the world record is something else. -

I agree, Tony. It'd be tough giving up a young, stud D-man but we're getting back 35-40 in Kopitar. -

QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 04:00 PM) KC might actually win this thing... My little league team 10 years ago could have already won this game. Minnesota nor KC deserves it. 1 out already.
