  1. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 02:18 PM) I would much rather spend alittle bit more on a guy like Sheets. I know he has a history of getting hurt every year. But this guy would be the ACE we need. I also wouldnt' be surprised to see Vazquez moved this offseason, maybe for a young starter (Floyd type move perhaps?) I'll pass. IMO, he is having one of those seasons when it's an injury-riddled SPs contract year when he stays healthy for all of/most of the season, gets a huge deal, and then isn't healthy ever again except a few starts here and there.
  2. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 13, 2008 -> 02:54 PM) Like last night when he hit that game winning home run? No, like his career when in the postseason he is a .260 hitter with a .330 OBP.
  3. As soon as the Hawks turn into the Cubs, which is going to be sooner then later, I'm getting rid of my season seats.
  4. Rasner sucks on the road and Slowey is pretty good at home. If we win sweep and Minnesota wins tomorrow, we'll have a 1 game lead going into Oakland.
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 10:27 PM) Phelps is good. Kind of lame that Americans would actually pull against him for any reason. I want all US athletes to kick arse at the Olympics. It's not his fault the media is following him around all the time. The guy has a chance to make history this year. If he was on team France, than I would agree with all you. Couldn't agree more.
  6. You guys know how sometimes if a guy gets a hit on a Sox telecast the radar will read 98-103 mph? Well, it really shows what ESPN knows about the AL Central and the players in it- they just showed Swisher's HR on BBTN and Ravach goes "And Swisher goes yard on a 100 mph offering". Yeah Karl, because Brian Bannister throws 100 mph you dope.
  7. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 10:17 PM) Michael Phelps is really annoying. This has reached ESPN/Tiger Woods proportions. The guy is a 6'7 swimming machine. I'm not so sure he's even a guy- he might be a fish: he won the 4th gold medal with water in his eyes.
  8. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 10:52 PM) Your obsession with fielding percentage is disturbing. Right now A-Rod is a mediocre 3B while Pujols is probably the best 1B in the National League (and it has been said that he plays a mean SS in practice.) Pujols has a 74 point lead in career OPS so you're wrong on that one. Albert Pujols is just an incredible hitter, possibly the best all around hitter I've ever seen. Just take a look at the all-time leaders in career OPS: 1.) Ruth - 1.164 2.) Williams - 1.116 3.) Gehrig - 1.080 4.) Bonds - 1.051 4.) Pujols - 1.043 That's crazy. First off, I was just using FP because we were discussing them as baseball players, not just offense. Secondly, I was using lg-OPS, not OPS, therefore A-Rod is higher.
  9. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 09:32 PM) Personally, I think Pujols is better than Alex Rodriguez. It's kind of like comparing Kobe and LeBron- you can't go wrong. Pujols has a better FP yet 1B'men usually make less errors than 3B'men. A-Rod has the better OPS liftetime yet Pujols has the better AVG and OBP. A-Rod obviously has the HR over him, though.
  10. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 09:28 PM) I'm confused...what does that have to do with the Olympics and what relevance does it have? America and Canada are the only countries that play football so thats pretty moot, and IMO, Pujols and Ovechkin have their own case for the MLB and NHL... Nothing at all. It's just cool to know that we have arguably the best athletes in every sport (except soccer, tennis, etc.). But like you said, you could make an argument for Ovechkin and Pujols.
  11. And Phelps gets such a huge lead for the relay team that they won by 5 seconds and broke the world record by 5 seconds. :usa :usa
  12. SOB Rivera! :chair Chances are- here comes Nathan.
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 09:46 PM) Swimming? Well yeah, except I was listing all the organizations/leagues and I wasn't sure if swimming had one.
  14. 6-3 with an out and a guy on 2nd in the bottom of the 8th.
  15. 16-16 in the bottom of the 8th- Boston has 1st and 2nd.
  16. I love how we (North America) has the best players in every sport: Crosby NHL, Tiger PGA, Phelps whatever it's called, A-Rod MLB, Brady NFL, and Lebron/Kobe NBA. Way to go, Phelpsy! :usa
  17. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 04:18 PM) Anyone know where to get lineups for the game tonight? I'm going and hoping that my Swisher shirt will not be riding the bench Mark Gonzales said on CTL that he'll be in LF tonight.
  18. Stiffness in the forearm is what is being reported. If we win the 1st 2 games, give him the 3rd game off. If we win 1 of the first 2, we might be forced to get him in there on Thursday- can't afford a lost series by KC.
  19. per CTL today. Swisher will be in LF, Griffey in CF. Not sure on the extent of the injry. :(
  20. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 01:25 AM) No, No, Nope. Then who?
  21. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 01:18 AM) 1.Gross 2.Stop putting Grudz and Hudson in the same group. They aren't. I suppose you are probably going to get real excited this off-season, because if Williams meets your expected off-season targets, he will be ripped to pieces, as well he should. With attendance being strong again this year, a few deals coming off the books, and possibly a bloated contract leaving, this team doesn't have to look for players in the bargain bin. So who do you want, Chipper Jones, Sabathia, and Garland?
