  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 07:10 PM) Theres going to be alot of young talent on the field when we meet in the Shoe next season. Sure will be. I can't wait. I'm thinking about making the 4-5 hour trek there.
  2. I'm not familiar with the Wings' cap space, but Franzen and Hossa are both FA's after the year. If they can only afford one, which one do they choose?
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 04:41 PM) Well, they WOULD have to rebuild a great deal of their defense, but in all honestly, in the BCS era how often does USC not compete for the national title? And USC has a top class every year, its not really out of the ordinary to get top players again. And I see USC with 8 out of the top 100 with 5-5star players, thats pretty standard for them isnt it? USC so far has the 5th (Barkley), 8th (Burfict), 9th (Kennard), 19th (Hall), 30th (McDonald), 39th (Carroll), 86th (Graf), 99th (Jeffrey), and 100th (Martinez) players all committed, with the 10th (Jenkins), 11th (Kirkpatrick), 12th (Te'O), 62nd (Charles), 63rd (Su'a Filo), and 67th (Patrick) all still are considering USC. It's been awhile since that's happened, IIRC. Obviously, all those guys won't be good, play much and/or start, or stay at USC, but that's a damn good class. To be losing your 3 starting LB's and to be getting the best LB, and having the 2nd and 3rd best LB's considering the school, is nice. They will have a damn good DE combo in Griffen and Kennard (if he pans out), and their whole OL is back. QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 05:50 PM) Well Pete Carroll knows a little thing about football and he has gotten plenty of kids to the NFL, so thats who he is to criticize. Also most scouts believe that Sanchez would benefit greatly by spending another year in college too. Thank you. That's what I was trying to get at.
  4. Zetterberg gets a 12 year-76 million dollar extension.
  5. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 12:42 AM) Not bad. Maybe this will help your crying/whining ass coach get over his former QB bolting for the NFL. Wouldn't you be mad if you knew that if your QB stayed, you'd be likely playing for the national title next year? QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Jan 27, 2009 -> 10:15 PM) And this is different from any other year how? I don't recall a time when they had about 6 or 7 recruits in the top 25 coming in and it could end up being 10 or so.
  6. Jelani Jenkins (2nd best LB), Manti Te'O (3rd best LB), and Dre Kirkpatrick (best DB) are all between USC and 2+ schools. They also have gotten committments already from Matt Barkley (best QB), Vontaze Burfict (best LB), Devon Kennard (the best DE), and Patrick Hall (2nd best "ATH"). Kennard picked USC this morning, per sportingnews.com. All the parentheses stuff is from rivals.com.
  7. I think I'm going to start to get back into WWE. Judgment Day is in Chicago so I want to go to that too, so that might be a reason why I want to start with it again. I used to love it but have been on and off with the whole thing for 3 years now. I always loved HHH and Orton. Who are the major heels and faces now, if anyone has the time? BTW- when is Taker supposed to get back, have there been any rumors on it at all?
  8. Duke just obliterated Maryland by 41. Ouch. Duke @ Wake Wednesday will be fun.
  9. The Hawks are playing like total ass. Seriously Kane, just stay in Chicago or go to Buffalo rather then going to Montreal. You and Toews need a break.
  10. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jan 19, 2009 -> 07:56 PM) Brandon Williams, DE from Texas Tech would be a very good pick-up for a team like the Bears in the 3rd round. 6'5 260 pounds, and led the Big 12 in sacks. 20 years old, suprised everyone in the program by declaring for the draft as a junior. Finally somebody else brought it up. I was waiting for him to declare and he did. I was very impressed with him against Texas, and that's just 1 game. I'd love to see us take him with our first 3rd.
  11. Chuck Garfein brought up a good point on SN today to Brooks Boyer- why not have a 44 game package, for Obama being the 44th president and him being a Sox fan?
  12. QUOTE (The Critic @ Jan 20, 2009 -> 02:36 AM) Some lucky f***er walked out of the UC a millionaire last night. The Illinois State Lottery has this promotion with the Hawks - if a Hawk scores at 10:00 exactly of the 2nd period, they pick a random fan to win a million. Havlat's goal came at 10:00 exactly of the second period. I think they said the fan was in section 326, but I could be wrong about that. They said the fan will be announced before Wednesday's game (whoever it is was notified last night at the game, though). Not a bad deal at all, huh....see a Hawk game, grab a million bucks.... Last game vs Buffalo is when it started. I made fun of the promotion then and yesterday saying that the chances were slim to none, similar to what the real lottery is. Yesterday, hen the faceoff happened right outside the Wild zone at 10:11, my brother goes "It might happen here". When Johnson cleared it around the boards, I thought "Nope, not today". Sure enough, Havlat puts it in, I look up, 10:00. It was f***ing incredible.
  13. I wouldn't mind. Plus, he might have an injury plagued past, but keep in mind this whole jaw issue was a freak accident. Any WR would have broken their jaw on that hit. I'd rather trade for him then try to draft Kenny Britt or Hakeem Nicks and pray that they turn out to be good.
  14. Troy Polamalu is a beast. God bless. Steelers/Cards. Go Arizona!
  15. I love the idea of Arizona's OC becoming the next head coach of the Bears next year, but will he be bringing Boldin, Fitzgerald, and Breaston with him?
  16. Duke won today, and I was shocked. But god damn, even as a fan, they get every call at home. But hey, I'll take it. I'm not about to say we got every call because there were times when I thought it was a foul on them but Duke didn't get the call. Georgetown is a good team.
  17. I hate the Vikings more then the Packers, and I hate the Blues more then the Wangs. Am I okay?
  18. Javier Vazquez is a pitcher who would win the Cy Young if he was playing in Washington. In Chicago, it's different. When he had to win a big game, he couldn't. Period. The guy isn't a terrific pitcher, but a terrible one. End of story. TRA, WAR, whatever the f***- just stop. He sucks.
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 02:16 PM) I'll shave my ass hairs and change my name to Leonardo if we could land Duke Robinson. Dude is a STUD. Where are you hearing this? Every mock draft site I've read has him going no lower than 20th. Edit: NM. You're right. I've checked more recently updated mock drafts and he has slipped some (I have no idea why). But no way we could get him in the second round. Something extremely drastic would have to have occurred for him to slip that far. He started off the game against Florida getting toasted on every play for the most part. Then, out of frustration, he began to committ dumbf*** penalties, and was benched soon thereafter. He did come back in, opened some holes, then went back to getting burnt.
  20. QUOTE (rangercal @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 10:29 AM) DE or OL would be a very good pick. With our scheme, the right pressure would make our DBs look that much better. DE is key. OGUN should be shown the door. LB is not a need in the 1st rd as long as Briggs and Urlacher are playing at respectable levels. Drafting a WR in the 1st round would be very risky. Our philosophy is running the ball and playing good D. I doubt we draft a wr here. While I think they will cut him, I don't agree with it. However, if we do, we'll save almost $5 million which could help us land a guy like Terrell Suggs or Julius Peppers. But, this is Ogunleye's last year on his deal. He could be playing for a contract this year and he could very well put up 10+ sacks. Plus, Marinelli is a DL genius and he could have some effect on Adewale's play.
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 08:44 AM) I dont like the pick, but Robiskie isnt exactly a slow WR, he anchored the OSU 4x100 team and should break 4.5 in testing for the NFL. I also dont see the Bears picking a DE in the first round, they have much bigger needs moving forward at DB, LB, WR, and OL. No, but he isn't that fast. He doesn't have blazing speed like many WR's do. I hope your right on the 1st round pick, but with the addition of Marinelli and the seriousness Angelo had in his voice about underachievers, it made me think that he was in particular talking about Ogunleye (and Vasher).
  22. My Bears mock, as of now. 1. Paul Kruger, DE, Utah ---At 6'5 270, he's been compared to Aaron Kampman. I'll take the risk. I think we'll go DE in the 1st just because JA sounds like he hates the heavily paid DE's this year (Ogunleye in particular) and we added Marinelli. 2. Sam Young, RT, Notre Dame ---We need a dominant RT, and Young was great this year. 3. Brian Robiskie, WR, Ohio State ---I wanted to go WR earlier, but I figured DE and RT were bigger needs. Robiskie has Berrian size, but he isn't as fast. However, he is a fantastic route runner and uses his hands, both unlike Berrian. 3. Anthony Parker, RG, Tennessee ---We have a stud RB, and we need to bolster the OL. Parker was a star this year for the Vols. 4. David Bruton, FS, Notre Dame ---FS is our 5th biggest need, and Bruton is the BSA here. 5. Coye Francies, CB, San Jose State ---Small but bulky CB. If we cut Vasher, move Tillman to FS, and don't sign a FA CB, then we'll only have Graham and Bowman as our CB's next year. Ouch. 6. David Veikune, DE, Hawaii ---Easily the best defensive player in the WAC this year. The only time he was shut down was against Sam Young (see 2nd round pick). He could be a steal. 7. Quinn Johnson, FB, LSU ---Converted LB- he's a nasty player and created many huge holes for Charles Scott this past year. 7. Louis West, OL, Henderson State ---Just a massive human at 6'8 380. He played everywhere except OC this year but he could be depth at OG in the NFL.
