The Winter Classic thread

Being there was unreal. I hate that f***ing park, but I could watch a hockey game in an alley in a project for all I care. It sucks they lost, and I hate how the players acted like "It's fine we lost, we played in the WC" after the game, but what are ya going to do? -

"The Pac-10 sucks."- ESPN asshat NCAAF analysts. Yeah, well the P10 is about to be 5-0 this Bowl Season which would be the best of any conference. The Big-10 is the conference that sucks. Period. -
Actually, NE franchising Cassel isn't unlikely at all. They might do it just for insurance. If Brady is 100%, Cassel'll walk after next year. If not, Cassel will get franchised again or signed long term.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Dec 31, 2008 -> 07:03 PM) It's a horrible idea to have this on New Year's Day. Of course there's no other big sporting events on New Year's! I almost wished I wasn't going. SC/IOWA and USC/PSU are much more appealing. -

QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 30, 2008 -> 12:05 PM) Maclin reminds me of Hester. Plus 2 inches, 10 pounds, and like someone said, a more polished WR. Kenny Britt, on the other hand, is 6'4 220 with great hands and great leaping ability. Reminds me of a Plaxico Burress type. -

Right now for Thursday according to weather.com- 37 with snow showers. 37>32 32=freezing 37+ice=melt? 37+cold ground=fog I honestly wanted to sell these from the start but never got around to it. I wanted to watch it on my TV (inbetween periods watch Georgia/MSU) and then watch USC obliterate Penn State. Hopefully by the time I get home the USC game is still going on. -

I'm still trying to make a verdict on Maclin. I understand he's fast as hell but yesterday I never saw him go up and make a play. Sure, when he kept getting handoffs, it was an automatic 10 yards, but the Bears and probably 25 other teams wouldn't use him like that. I'm just not sure if I'd have the Bears draft him or Kenny Britt, if they do go WR in the 1st round. -

Rose totally outplayed Harris, who is the best PG in the East, tonight. Impressive... -
QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Dec 29, 2008 -> 11:49 AM) how many on an NFL roster? you named 7 guys. other than briggs and forte the best guy is our punter. Beekman sucks BTW. That entire O-Line sucks. Hopefully Williams can be decent. Beekman doesn't suck. If you ask me, he was our best and most consistent OL this year. Garza and Kreutz significantly dropped off, St Clair had a solid first couple weeks but then he was awful, and Tait was terrible down the stretch. Beekman is going to get "stonewalled" a lot of times on run plays because of his size but when he gets leverage he is a pretty good OG.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Dec 29, 2008 -> 11:13 AM) The Bears definitely need to spend a 1st day pick on a QB, so they can develop one for a couple of years. Drew Willy, 4th round, Buffalo, 6'3 220, good arm and good accuracy- bank it. Orton's a decent enough stop-gap for the moment. They'll probably need another RB to pair with Forte, so he doesn't wear down next season. Maurice Morris. -
QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Dec 29, 2008 -> 10:32 AM) this team is going to suck in the coming years. sooo many holes, terrible drafting, poor development..... Really? Graham, Olsen, Forte, Beekman, Briggs, Payne, and Harrison all were impressive this year and, I believe, the only one who's 30 is Briggs, and the others are all 27 or younger. I wouldn't say we have so many holes. Get a weapon at WR (Boldin, Houshmanzadeh) and get a solid RT, FS, and an OG through the draft. Do that, and we win 10 next year. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 29, 2008 -> 11:05 AM) Um, they lost to the Texans in a must-win game. They suck. I doubt the Pats are happy about missing, and they had 11 wins. The Bears needed to beat a .500 team to get in the playoffs. That's it. The Eagles destroyed the Cowboys when they needed to win. They do not suck. The Bears suck. And the Texans were great at home this year and they have the 3rd ranked offense. You act like since it was Houston all the players and fans should cry themselves to sleep every night until September 8, 2009.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 28, 2008 -> 10:41 PM) Dan Roan just brought up a good point. More than one Bear said "Houston just wanted it more than we did today". Really? Are you serious? You had the playoffs on the line, and the Texans "wanted it more?" What a tremendous franchise. Well, I know Kevin Payne was one of them, but then he quickly corrected himself by saying "...Well maybe not more then us, but definitley played like it". -

If the Hawks can win Tuesday, the Hawks will be only 2 points behind 1st place, so the WC will have 1st place in the balance. Hawks win the WC, and 1st place is being held by 2 different teams. -

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Dec 28, 2008 -> 08:19 PM) Hmm, I see what you did there. I'll take my disappointing Cowboys team over a pathetic Bears squad anyday. Really? I'm honestly not sure how much better DAL is then the Bears. Let me guess- more talent, right? Eat me. If they have so much f***ing talent, then why didn't they do good things this year? What's the excuse now? The Cowboys won just as many games this year as the Bears. Who's pathetic again? -

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 28, 2008 -> 03:02 PM) Quite a difference giving up a 6th rounder compared to a 1st AND 3rd. IF he does keep it, we'd have to hope Jeremy Maclin was on the board. Though, knowing Jerry Angelo, he'd probably draft a defensive tackle or something. I'd rather we traded down into the 1st, picked up another 3rd and a 6th, then drafted Kenny Britt out of Rutgers. I don't want to go out on a limb, but his size and skills are similar to Andre Johnson. 6'4 220, good hands, great size (obviously), and very physical. -

People say- "I don't want to trade for Boldin because it'll cost us a 1st rounder and a 3rd rounder". So what? What will we do with that 1st rounder? I say we make that trade, then go with an OG (in the 2nd), then an OT (in the 3rd with the compensation we'll get for Berrian), then a FS (in the 4th). -

Roethlisberger carted off with an injury. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Dec 28, 2008 -> 02:23 PM) Please tell me you are not defending Babich. Babich sucks. He is not the entire reason this team sucks, but he has his seat at the table of suckitude. I'm not. But to say he cost us 3 games is ridiculous. BTW- Forte gets 52 total yards in the 1st quarter, and I think he got 1 touch in the 2nd quarter, due to Lovie Smith's fascination with giving Forte a rest AFTER THE END OF A QUARTER WHEN HE GETS HIS BREAK THEN. -

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 28, 2008 -> 12:47 PM) It was Babich's scheme that put the Bears in very bad situations. Babich made Olsen fumble. Babich made Tillman go apes**t. Babich made Orton throw it to the team in the purple. Okay.
