QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 07:30 PM) If you can do basic math you can see Cabrera is beating Erstad by a whopping 31 points. That's not worth the price we paid to get him Cabrera has 44 RBI's in 411 at-bats Erstad had 21 RBI's in 182 at-bats at the time. I meant OPS+. Great, so he contributed what again via rbis? He gets excused because he was injured (predictably)?

QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 07:14 PM) Darin Erstad 7/26/07: .264/.311/.341 Orlando Cabrera 7/26/08: .268/.328/.355 To think, all we gave up was a starting pitcher and $8 million for this selfish player. If the Sox can get something at the deadline that they feel can help them more this year than the possibility of two draft picks (I'm hoping and assuming Cabrera rejects an arbitration offer,) I say they go for it. I guess things like OPS+ and RBI don't matter at all.

The first place white sox are a big part of that, ginger.
-
Cabrera has been excellent in the field from what I've seen, much better than uribe except in 05. I miss about 1/3 of the games though.

With the JD banner, I say big jim thome. Or switch the banner.

I want to see some anderson right about now.

He actually pitched well against the rangers, I think.
-
Who did he pitch against last time? The rangers? If so, I'm not worried.

Is it me or are hawk and DJ really brutal to listen to tonight? I'm usually a fan too.

7 Sox players in the top 64 MLB hitters
---------- replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Also its important to look beyond a stat like that and see who you are talking about. Thome, Dye, Quentin. Those are the reasons we are winning baseball games, offensively, of late. They hit into a lot of GIDP because they see a lot of people on 1st in front of them and are power hitters who aren't too speedy. -

My point wasn't to disagree. I just laugh when I see a selective stat like 7/64. Why in the world would someone pick 64? Only to be negative and try to make some point for all the wrong reasons. Or they are citing some writer who did the same. -

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 06:29 PM) Oh. Well in that case I agree. But if we can't talk about negatives as well as positives, what's the point of coming to a message board? I think you have to be realistic and most people here are only negative. The teams major positives, like runs scored and whatnot are rarely discussed, while the major and even very minor negatives are combed through thoroughly and repeated ad nauseum. -

I can't decide if its JD or CQ for MVP.

Why did DJ just say that. Bleh.

Carlos Quentin, by my estimation is the MVP of the AL, and is leading the team in GIDP. So what does that say about GIDP as a stat? To me it says its fairly unimportant and hardly (actually inversely) related to success at the plate. I am kidding about the inversely part but the stats don't lie, right? -
lol @ SoxFanForever

They look awesome.

Awesome uniforms.

Its quite possible that Marte has made significant mental strides in his years with Pittsburgh and is not the player white sox fans think he is.

She has nice eyeballs.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 08:17 PM) Fedor should fight AA or Josh next, but his managers can be a pain, so we'll see when and if that happens. He usually fights on NYE in Japan, so he'll probably fight for DREAM, or maybe WVR that night. They're also doing a reality show called "Fighting Fedor" with some Russian HWs training and competing to fight him. (I am absolutely 100% not kidding about that). http://mmamania.com/2008/02/12/fighting-fe...reality-series/ Affliction was a good show, but they really need to have better match ups, I mean a few of the fights were a joke, even Trigg and Glazer who announced it were saying Deweeze (sp?) and the guy from Brazil that Lindland fouoght weren't on the same level as their opponents. They also have to address the production aspect, it SUCKED! It was dark, the camera work was bad and the announcing didn't click, and they had Megadeath playing during the PPV (although it was 4 hours, so it didn't take away any fights). Overall the the production was C level at best, I know it was their first time, but they really need to address that ASAP. UFN was good too, heck it was free and seeing Silva for free and the ridiculous KO was well worth the time of watching it. Vera didn't impress much in his reintroduction at 205, and in the UFC there is no messing around at 205, that is one tough division. Dream 5 on HDnet early morning monday and replay Monday night. LW finals I believe. Hopefully at somepoint JZ or Aoki will fight BJ in a cross promotion or the UFC signing one of them. I think you want lopsided match ups for the first event, maybe even the second, purely for excitement. You don't want decisions. I'm sure they are well aware of what you are saying.

QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 11:49 AM) He has already beaten Big Nog twice (pretty much 3 times) and is in a different promotion than him. I don't see them hooking up again any time soon. Nog has nothing to offer Fedor. No, not even close to 3 times. Fedor got a nasty cut. It was pretty early in the fight as I recall.

That guy with the voice, man, you know what I'm talking about if you've been there in the last five years or so. He is like ronnie woo woo but not a piece of s***.
