  1. Semien's only hitting .220, but he's a much better option in the two hole than Beckham. I've been saying this all along, just put Alexei there.
  2. Beckham...sigh.
  3. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ May 5, 2014 -> 10:49 PM) K Zone had all 5 pitches to ADA as strikes. Something's off with that then...cause that first ball to him was nowhere near the zone.
  4. Semien's a clutch motherf***er.
  5. Travis Wood can hit.
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ May 5, 2014 -> 10:05 PM) I'd really like the way Ariza would look in the Bulls lineup I don't know if he can replicate what he did this year shooting the ball down the road. If he can put up a .560 TS%, then yeah, he'd look great. But I'm not sure he can do it again given what he's done in his career.
  7. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 5, 2014 -> 09:49 PM) Why did abreu get taken out Pinch runner.
  8. I think we got a break on that replay, but I don't know if it was 100% conclusive that his foot did come off the bag. That's the thing with overturning a play. Unless it's obviously conclusive, it's hard to overturn.

Anybody know if Gamestops are going to be open tonight for the release?
  10. De Aza back to the leadoff spot eh? I also cringe at the thought of Dunn in LF. This has to be one of the worst outfields in all of baseball with Dunn and Viciedo at the corners.
  11. He definitely deserved the AL ROTM over Tanaka. I'm not sure about Player of the Month though. Abreu was 12th in the AL in wRC+, behind both Adam Dunn and Dayan Viciedo.
  12. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 5, 2014 -> 02:00 PM) Does it get choppy after the video starts? Chromecast has it's own wifi, so it really shouldn't matter if your phone sucks unless it's a command issue. Yeah for whatever reason, my parents had a hard time setting theirs up correctly since the Chromecast was fairly far away from the router. I don't have such an issue since my router is on my TV stand.
  13. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 5, 2014 -> 01:33 PM) Can it stream prime? More of it has to do with my galaxy's S4's inability to keep a solid wifi signal (and no it is not my wifi at my house) it is the piece of s*** wifi on the S4's (and a known problem...just like their relatively s***ty bluetooth as well). As a result, Iget pretty choppy issues. Also have had all kinds of issues with MLB.TV streaming through chrome (and no issues on my PS3). Again, might not be the Chrome's problem but when my primary use of the Chrome is to stream Sox games to my TV and that doesn't work well, well, it annoys me. I've already said on many occasions, as soon as I can I am running away from android cause it is nowhere near as smooth of an O/S as the Apple one. Prime is Amazon's issue. They don't want to release a Amazon Instant Video app on Android because it would compete with their Fire tablets. But yes you can stream it from your computer as a last resort. Why are you streaming MLB.tv through Chrome? You can do it through the Android app. Streaming video through Chrome requires your computer to have a pretty good video card. Most laptops will have a hard time with it. I have nothing but positives to say about the Chromecast. It's cheap and it streams just about everything (I use Plex to stream my movies on my media server and BubbleUPnP to stream pretty much any online video link imaginable).
  14. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 5, 2014 -> 10:43 AM) So I picked up a chromecast this past weekend, not a big fan thus far. What don't you like about it? It can pretty much stream anything if you know what apps to use.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ May 5, 2014 -> 12:31 AM) Damn, what a nice resource. Thanks! So I guess the 40% trade in stuff excludes systems. Damn. Looks like I should get.... PS3 (refurbed) - $40 (+10%) - $44 PS3 controller - $7.50 (+40%) - $10.50 PS3 A/V cable - $2 (+40%) - $2.80 MLB 13 The Show - $6 (+40%) - $8.40 MLB 14 The Show - $25 (+40%) - $35 Total - $100.70 That's good with me, considering the extra PS3 is pretty much useless to me. It can't be used for more than about 20-30 minutes without overheating warnings and "SHUTDOWN IMMINENT" messages. The MLB 14 price is just a guess. That site didn't even list the game because it is so new. I got almost $100 when I traded in my PS3 a few weeks ago. For whatever reason, I also got the extra 40% when I traded the console in, even though I was only supposed to get 10.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ May 5, 2014 -> 12:04 AM) Tomorrow, I plan on trading in an extra PS3 (has overheating issues, hopefully Gamestop won't notice), extra PS3 controller, and The Show '14 and using a friend's Pro membership thing to get 40% extra on the trade-in towards pre-ordering The Show '14 for PS4. Would be cool to get at least $65 for all of it to pay off The Show. I have a feeling I won't get much for the PS3 though given that it is a FAT model (although, the 60 GB version, which was the best they made), because it has a crack on the front held together by black electrical tape, and because it has been repaired for overheating....twice. If I get don't at least $20 just for the internal parts alone, I'll probably just try to sell it online for someone who would rather piece off the working parts. You can check trade-in values at cheapassgamer.com: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/330257-...titanfall-more/

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 4, 2014 -> 09:45 PM) I realize some baseball broadcasts show on base percentage somewhere on the screen when a batter steps to the plate, but broadcast teams do not discuss anything but the age-old batting average, home runs and RBIs during their broadcasts. Why is this? Today the Royals announcers were going through a discussion of KC hitters. Only thing they talked about was batting average. If advanced statistics are the future and were chronicled so heavily in Moneyball, why don't announcers discuss them? For hitters, it's batting average, HR, RBI; for pitchers it's still wins, losses and ERA and pitch count. No discussion of Sabes. No discussion EVER of on base percentage and things like that. It's crazy. You're watching the wrong broadcasts. Even Stoney and Hawk talked about WAR the other day. Stone used to be very against any kind of sabermetric mentality. It now appears he's at least intrigued enough about it that he'll talk about it in the booth.
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 3, 2014 -> 08:29 AM) Arc for us is 6 - 10. No stealing in our league but I have played in a league where you could steal. It's a bit weird. A pitcher can fake a pitch to home, and if you are off the base when he fakes then you are out. So some pitchers have elaborate fake moves. I am not a base stealer so I never left the base, but I saw a few guys get "picked off" that way. USSSA is 3-10 feet, so you really get to tee off. It's great. BTW, I played against Cedric Benson tonight in a co-ed rec league. He only hit once since he was late to the game. It's a good thing he used an alloy bat, because he can probably hurt someone if he used a good composite.
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 2, 2014 -> 09:53 PM) But the NBA sucks today. We need to go back to this - http://www.basketball-reference.com/playof...CF.html#DET-IND That looks like a college basketball box score.
  20. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 2, 2014 -> 06:02 PM) ASA rules, 3 home run limit, 1-1 rules after both teams hit 3 homers. If you reach your limit before the other team does, every homer is an out OK cool, so that means you guys play against pretty good competition. Most of the leagues in Austin are 1 HR. There's maybe 2 leagues of 3 HR every night of the week. I'm told that there's a 5 HR league once in a while where you can steal bases, which sounds interesting. I don't think the leagues here do the 1-1 rule though. I've never encountered it. I play in one 3 HR Men's league and I found I actually hit better than 1 HR leagues because the pitchers threw with lower arc (most of them play USSSA), which is far easier to hit for me than the high ASA arc. I have an entirely different stance for ASA and USSSA. No leg kick at all in USSSA, leg kick in ASA. It's a bit weird going back and forth sometimes.
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 2, 2014 -> 04:47 PM) .600 is good, .700 very good IMO Look at my team roster that I posted a few days ago. Ray is without a doubt the best player on our team, he is an absolute wrecking ball. But then you look at Bob, and he is a singles hitter but on base all the time. Our team is pretty consistent top to bottom though, and I think that is why we are good. I am usually around .600 but last year was kind of disappointing at .560. But I just don't play as much as I used to. Do you guys play ASA? If so what's your HR limit?
  22. So what's the general consensus of what a good hitter is in slow pitch softball? I only stat-track for myself and a lot of the good players I play with don't keep their stats. .600? .700? What about in terms of OPS?
  23. Salazar's last start: 7 IP, 1 ER, 8 K, 1 BB vs. SF. It was his first great start on the season. Hopefully it was a one time thing.
  24. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Apr 30, 2014 -> 04:03 PM) He was less than a 1-win player last year, he'll probably be around the same this year. 3/$45m would be an insane overpay. .340 wOBA at DH doesn't really get you much these days.
  25. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 30, 2014 -> 04:02 PM) Hopefully the Sox find a left-handed hitting LF for next year and move Viciedo to DH. I'm not a fan of going after VMart to DH this offseason, as that seems like too much of a win-now move. I think this is the much better solution. Viciedo, if what we've seen so far this year is real, is a much better option at DH than V-Mart.
