QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 10:29 AM) I guess I need to get started on this....feeling left out Don't let these old people pressure you bro. Anyways, Congrats Krush.
  2. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 12:28 AM) That is so cool, assuming "waterproof" also means water functional, like I could theoretically text underwater, although that would be difficult. Yup. You can take it to the shower with you, in the pool, in a river, whatever. Just don't submerge it for more than 30 minutes.
  3. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 21, 2013 -> 11:41 PM) Samsung Galaxy S 4 Active waterproof feature. Cool thing, or the coolest thing? As I am not in the market for a phone, I'm not sure how many other phones are waterproof as well, but texting in the pool sounds amazing. It's always a 30 seconds process of wiping my hands completely dry before checking my texts every 10 minutes in the pool. Sony Xperia Z is also waterproof.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 21, 2013 -> 07:06 AM) Rios' trade value isn't affected by Ventura sitting him. It is affected by Rios dogging it. My point is Rios' is probably as close to being traded as more than half the White Sox. The reports were the Sox were dissappointed in what was being discussed. Rosenthal even speculated the Sox would have to throw cash and/or a prospect to take him off their hands. Nobody would have cared about Rios dogging it if Ventura didn't pull him and mention it to the media. But now it's a national story.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 07:02 PM) Again, it is no secret Rios dogged it. He even admitted it. Ventura did nothing wrong. He held Rios accountable and put the White Sox, not Rios' feelings, first. Maybe it woke Rios up a little bit. Big picture is the White Sox future. Chances are, Rios is going to be around for a while. Rios is gone after 2014. If the team really wants to rebuild, there is no reason for them to keep Rios.
  6. Our defense sure hasn't helped Peavy out.
  7. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 04:22 PM) Yeah I'm definitely intrigued as their seems to be more emphasis on user experience over specs. They're also pumping $500M into marketing and releasing it on every carrier. No confirmation yet but this should be stock or near stock so updates could be quick. And yeah, the HTC One arriving so late on Verizon is a joke. The 8/1 date isn't even confirmed. I have a feeling this phone will get a lot of developer support too. But then again, most flagship phones get dev support these days. The hardware on the phone isn't as good as I would like. It's a dual core Qualcomm S4 Pro, but scores 18-19k in Antutu. For reference, the Nexus 4 scores around the same, if not lower. Perhaps the smaller resolution and less powerful chip will translate to better battery life. That's definitely something Motorola is good at.
  8. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 03:41 PM) I am on board with those who say Rios isn't the only guy who loafs to first on a hard hit ball to the SS. 99.9% of the time that is an easy DP. Rio knew that and put his head down in disgust.....Can't remember how many times we've seen our captain PK do the exact same thing. I don't think RV handled correctly. PK's great at doing that.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 03:18 PM) Rios hurt the team. Not Ventura. Every GM in baseball knows what they are getting in Rios. .... Can you say, selfish? The organization shouldn't really care if the team wins for the rest of the year or not. Rios not running out a ground ball that cost the Sox 1 run in a more or less meaningless game isn't a huge deal. What is a big deal is Robin Ventura telling everyone he benched Rios because he didn't run out a ball hard. Now you might be stuck with Rios because nobody else wants him. How does that help the future of this team? Ventura blew up a non-issue. If you're Robin Ventura, you probably shouldn't care about what kind of baseball player Alex Rios is at this point. He's going to get traded. But it's so f***ing stupid to degrade the guy's value right before he's going to get traded. You're not seeing the big picture here Greg. Losing one run during a game in a lost season is meaningless. Losing out on a better prospect who can help the team in the long run is meaningful. I know you hate Alex Rios, but that doesn't mean you have to hate what he's going to get traded for too.
  10. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 02:45 PM) You know what, I just don't really care. I like seeing Robin make an example of him. People can b**** about everything. I know that Robin's job is to hold his players responsible. But when one of those guys is about to be traded, help out your front office and don't make an example of him for every other team in baseball to see. It's dumb.
  11. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 02:23 PM) I don't think the skillsets of Francouer and Puig are as different as we'd like to think. Better hope Puig's hit tool is better, because I don't think his D is better and the arm can't be enough better to matter. I think they have similar raw power. Yoenis Cespedes told me so. The lack of plate discipline is alarming.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 02:05 PM) Alex Rios should be booed heavily today. Please trade him soon. I respect Ventura for pulling that high-paid clown from the game. Please get rid of Rios as soon as possible, Hahn. I seriously question the team that would want the guy, though. He's gonna be a tough sell to the fans of the contending team he goes to. My scout of Alex Rios: "Aging right fielder who basically plays for himself. Does not care about team. Might remain interested in earning his keep as long as team stays in the race." --- (Spoiler alert ... Don't read on if you hate reading bout Ozzie) Also liked this part of the story as an Ozzie fan.... In June of 2011, former manager Ozzie Guillen pulled him from the game in Colorado for the same reason as Ventura. "Rios don't run the bases; that's why I got him out of the game," Guillen said. "It's not the first time it happened. I don't like the way he runs the bases. And that's a message for everyone. If they don't (bleeping) run the bases, their reputation comes on me, and I have a greater reputation in this (bleeping) game to do it that way. "They don't run the bases, they're out of the game. I don't give a (bleep) if it's Paul Konerko or Adam Dunn or anyone. You don't run the bases, you're out of the game." You want Rios traded? Stop pulling him out of games to decrease his value. What Ventura did yesterday hurt the team.
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 09:27 PM) I'm on Verizon now and I'm pretty sure those are all GMS. Thanks for the head's up though. Seeing that my ETF goes to zero on 8/17 for my current Sprint phone, I'm eyeing the HTC One (potential 8/1 release) and the Moto X (potential 8/24 release). Regarding the latter, I'll first want to see some initial reviews as I already know what to expect with the One. God that's a joke. The phone was announced 4 months ago.
  14. The Moto X is pretty much the size of an iPhone 5, but with a 4.7 inch screen (actual screen size without navigation buttons is ~4.5). The bezels are very minimal. For reference, the iPhone 5 is 4.87 inches in length and 2.31 inches wide. This phone is the same height and about .2 inches wider. It's also supposed to have a replaceable back, which could mean replaceable battery as well. If this comes at a price point similar to the Nexus 4, I'm in.
  15. http://promotions.newegg.com/sony/13-2875/index.html This is your chance to get a new Sony phone for a reasonable price Sqwert.
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 03:42 PM) It was - I'm getting an iPad or iPad mini for my wife soon, because she's an iSheep - and was surprised to see such little price discrepancy. Heaven forbid someone not go into OMG DEFEND [insert platform here] BEST EVER mode.
  17. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 02:09 PM) While you find it funny, I find it awesome that I can sell my 2 year old iPad for hundreds of dollars. I recently sold mine for $300. Although I think Steve's point was that the iPad Mini is overpriced.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 10:14 AM) Yeah, Hyundai clearly has the best warranty out of all the manufacturers. They also have a lifetime warranty on all of the battery/hybrid equipment, whereas Ford's is only 8 years, 100k miles. But, it gets worse gas mileage (36/40 v. the Fusion's 47/47) and generally the reviews seem to think the Fusion drives a lot better. Was there anything else besides the warranty that tipped the scale for you? I remember the Sonata felt a little cramped at the auto show (i'm a bigger guy, 6 foot, 230), but it's been a while and it's not going to be my car so i'm sure it'll be fine for my wife. Financing might ultimately make the decision for me. Ford is at 1.9% for 60 months and Hyundai is 0%. After buying my Ford Escape at 0% i'm a little spoiled in that regard and feel a little "insulted" that I can't get 0% for a new car. The Fusion doesn't get 47 MPG. It gets something more like 40, at least that's what most reviews have said.
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 18, 2013 -> 08:42 PM) Absolutely zero reason Kershaw should be above Sale. $11 million in 2014, then at least $20 million from 2015 and on. Kershaw also doesn't have health concerns.
  20. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 09:10 AM) Grabbed the Galaxy Rugby and III Active. Got I hate learning new technology. I loved US Cellular service lets see what this AT&T company is all about. You'll learn to dislike them.
  21. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 18, 2013 -> 07:28 PM) What other pitchers are above him? Would you trade Kershaw for Sale straight up? Lol, no. Harvey is the only one you consider there that I can think of. Kershaw and Harvey will be above Sale. But Sale was ahead of Felix and Darvish.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 18, 2013 -> 04:27 PM) Recently I've been trying to find a hybrid for my wife. Debating between the Ford Focus, Prius V and Hyundai Sonata. It'd be mostly a commuter car for her, with the need to be big enough to put a car seat (or two in the future) in the back and haul a kid to/from things. I've read up on all three models but haven't driven any yet, though I did sit in them at the auto show. Anyone have any of these models or know people that have them? Ford Fusion Hybrid. You can probably get one for 26K if you negotiate well.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 18, 2013 -> 12:53 PM) Pretty sure I've mentioned it before, but here again... if you are going to buy a new car, or even a recent model used on, always use TrueCar for pricing information. Huge value in using that free tool. I got my car for about $1000 under TrueCar's prices. I actually shot for the lowest price reported on TrueCar when I was negotiating.
  24. Sale was ranked 16th by FanGraphs on their trade value list. For the record, that is higher than Yasiel Puig, Felix Hernandez, Yu Darvish, and a few top 5 prospects.
  25. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 18, 2013 -> 02:59 PM) A team full of replacement players would be expected to win about 42 out of 162 games. Say you're offensive lineup was C - Hector Gimenez 1B - Travis Ishikawa 2B - Tyler Kuhn SS - Pedro Ciricao 3B - Brent Morel LF - Brent Lillibridge CF - Jerry Owens RF - Jordan Danks DH - Jack Cust you wouldn't expect that team to win more than 42 games. Think of those sort of players are your replacement player base line. Well that is a subjective question. What do you mean by a "good hitter?" Someone who shows good bat control, can fight pitches off, wear pitchers out, and hit for a good average? No, he's not. Is he going to produce more runs than the average MLB hitter, hence being a"good hitter?" Yes he is. Oh the horror!
