  1. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 12:00 AM) Konerko, if ever we needed you, it's now. He did homer to lead off the ninth. But yeah, that would have been nice in the first inning. This team just hasn't been able to set the pace at all offensively. Once you put up a nice crooked number up in the first, it eases everyone on the team.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 11:36 PM) Is Loria the worst owner in sports now that Al Davis has passed away? He probably was before Al Davis passed away. He basically exploits MLB's revenue sharing to make side-money. Loria's awful. But that still does not mean Ozzie is a good manager or that 2012 wasn't at all his fault. He can say "we all failed" as much as he wants, but this is two years in a row now where he's gotten a team that was going "all in" and fell on his face. I don't think that's a coincidence.
  3. QUOTE (Cali @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 11:43 PM) Anyone else wanna just wake up in 8 days and see what happens instead of watching all eight games? (In this scenario all eight games are on the DVR to watch later) I wish i can just tune out all the games. I have too much work at school, but I keep checking the score, even though I don't want to.
  4. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 10:47 PM) Not in July when the Sox were in 2nd? No, because our run differential was better than Detroit's. A lot better.
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 10:18 PM) People are like "But it doesn't show Hot Doug's ON THE MAP! How can I USE this?!?" It's what you get when they expect everything to work on the iPhone...
  6. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 10:14 PM) I understand that we all use map functions...I haven't used Apple's, but I understand it is inferior to Google's at this time. But come on...I mean it is a miracle people managed to get where they wanted to go before Google Maps! And secondly, I am sure it still gives you a pretty good idea of what you're looking for...it isn't like you type in most addresses and get a map of Tokyo... I don't think most of the problems are here in the states. A lot of international users don't get accurate directions.
  7. Detroit's chances of winning the division are now higher than ours. I think this might be the first time since late April.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 09:56 PM) Its a map function, people... Sure it's not the email client or your text messaging app, or whatever you use the most on your phone. But different people have different needs. You might not need it, others might need it all the time. Hell, my bus app for Champaign-Urbana uses Google Maps to get routes and I use that every single day. I'm not using Google Maps directly, but it's definitely used every day.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 05:34 PM) That's the funny thing, it does still work, just as s***ty as the last map app. Whoever uses that functionality as deep as the complaints are going must be outside of my scope. Ok...so one of the core functions of iOS never "just worked"? lol
  10. Android users laughing at Apple maps and Apple users trying ever so hard to defend their new OS. This thread is just...bad. Y2HH does have a point though, if this was anyone else, the outrage wouldn't be there. But since Apple does have a big user-base and the issue is there for EVERYONE, of course there will be outrage. You can't boast that Apple's rich as s*** and is popular and then say that if they weren't popular this wouldn't be an issue. You can't have it both ways. Part of this is journalists trying to get views, but another part is that Apple's "it just works" motto has been affected. One of the main functions of their OS doesn't "just work" anymore. Of course people will be up in arms and it isn't a bunch of non-sense either.
  11. If last night wasn't enough to get us off the snide, I don't know what can.
  12. Canzler keeps kicking our ass.
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 09:44 PM) Honestly, these people are getting ridiculous... requesting refunds because an item doesn't arrive in two days, accidentally "buying it now"? The general populace is a bunch of idiots. I miss the days when sellers could give feedback about buyers - I can't believe that's not allowed anymore. Hasn't happened to me yet and I sell a few things every now and then on eBay. I actually took like 6-7 days to ship something that was supposed to be there in 2-3. Not a bad word from the buyer.
  14. Ozzie would love to get fired. Then he gets to go home and bring in checks while doing absolutely nothing.
  15. I loved that Robin played matchups and used Veal against two lefties. Unfortunately, it almost didn't work out and Veal finally gave up a hit to a left hander. Reed's tired. His velocity is down a few MPH. We need to save him for favorable matchups.
  16. Here's some perspective: Bears got screwed on a few calls last week against the Pack (important ones at that). Karma much? Not saying it was a good call...but karma's a b****.
  17. Extra day of rest? Sure. Shut down? Not a chance and no f***ing way.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 08:17 PM) Was there conclusive evidence he was safe? I don't know, the fact that his foot was on the plate before the catcher tagged him?
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 08:15 PM) Dunn batting 3rd right now is just a freaking joke. Couldn't hit two 93 MPH meatballs. Pathetic.
  20. Call at the plate was absolute bulls***. I can't wait until there's instant replay on close calls in the field of play.
  21. Escobar would have gotten a squib hit against us there. But against the Tigers, he strikes out. Figures.
  22. Now that I won my fantasy league, I can actually hope Verlander gets his ass kicked without thinking twice.
  23. QUOTE (Jillian Michaels' Abs @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 05:13 PM) I really hope, and I mean for real.... that Jhan Martinez records the final out for a White Sox world series victory. I disagreed with a lot of my friends that used to tell me the 2005 Sox won despite Ozzie, not because of him. I am starting to feel that way. I wouldn't say they won despite of him. I'd just say people gave/give him too much credit for that WS.
  24. If you want a guy we shouldn't have gotten rid of... Try Eric Stults. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playe...&position=P He's been very effective with the Padres this year. 2.81 ERA, 3.71 FIP. Say what you want about the NL and Petco, but we could have used this guy rather than Humber in July and August.
  25. QUOTE (Jillian Michaels' Abs @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 05:01 PM) I just listened to the interview. Bell mostly just agrees with the interviewer. The interviewer goes on a 3 minute "Ozzie sucks" diatribe and Bell responds with "Well, ya it sucks, blah blah" The media in Miami apparently doesn't like him too much. It's popular not to like Ozzie in Miami after that Castro debacle, I'd imagine.
