  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 4, 2013 -> 12:41 PM) still love it http://flapship.com/directv-genie-review/ I really need to find someone to do something with Flapship. ANYONE with basic design skills to post these articles. I've got way too much work to do, but this site gets effortless hits, still, based on super old content. We're talking 4,000 hits per month with nothing new. The new content was what always made it go bananas since it's an approved Google News source. Oh, side projects. Must have been that Derrick Rose thing.
  2. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 4, 2013 -> 02:26 AM) http://www.newsy.com/videos/lebron-james-t...his-own-sitcom/ LeBron producing a sitcom. Will all the jokes be about his hairline?
  3. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 07:41 PM) And my statement stands. At the moment, it may be simply "mutual", but believe me, in the contracts, there is plenty of room for "adding on" other advertising features they haven't mentioned yet, which will be a net gain for Google, and IMO, a net loss for all users of Google products that will now get hammered with Kit Kat ads. This is a trial, and if it's the least bit successful, you can bet your ass the next "nexus" phone you want to buy looks like a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup package. I already want to buy Kit Kats now...so it's worked.
  4. QUOTE (lord chas @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 07:37 PM) Skip Bayless will tell you Tebow is elite! All he does is win!
  5. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 07:34 PM) Up front maybe not...but with such a licensing agreement, there is certainly money to be made somewhere down the line. Otherwise, they wouldn't do it just for the sake of "it's cool". It's a marketing trade off that benefits both parties.
  6. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 07:24 PM) That's probably a whole bunch of upgrades for him, not to mention SSD's aren't cheap. I highly doubt his motherboard even supports them, unless he has a pretty new computer on his hands. His computer doesn't support SATA 2?
  7. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 06:11 PM) So my main hard drive on my PC went to s*** on Friday. It was fine all evening, I left for about half an hour, came back to log on and the system was frozen. I restarted, and then it was in a System Repair/chkdsk loop until last night. I ran Western Digital's diagnostic program, and that gave me a "too many errors, lol" error message. I ran some other utility program I found (Hiren's BootCD) and that couldn't even get the HDD to mount. Luckily the drive is still under warranty, so I'll get a replacement, but I don't know how to get any data off of it at this point. If I can't get it to mount using a linux boot CD, is there any hope of getting anything off of the drive myself? There's nothing all that important on there except for Skyrim saves. (Convenient timing, I just got an external backup drive as a gift yesterday) Probably not. A crapped out drive is a crapped out drive. I think it's time for you to get an SSD. A good SSD has a much lower rate of failure (at least before it degrades after it reaches its writes limit). Not to mention the performance boost you'll get.
  8. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 12:10 PM) The national consensus seems to be that the Bears are a .500 or worse team this year. Am I just being too much of a homer, because I think they'll be at least as good as last year? I saw the Bears at #8 and #12 on two power rankings (not that it means anything). But since we are talking about national opinion, that makes me think the national writers think pretty highly of the Bears.
  9. BBC says Google's not getting any money for this.
  10. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 12:48 PM) So, Android v4.4 is actually code named KitKat, compete with a cross promotion with Nestle and ... KitKat candy bars. Seriously. While I don't mind KitKats...is it necessary to crossbrand this? The last thing we need is MORE advertising in our lives. I think it's hilarious. All along, everyone thought it'd be Key Lime Pie. Now it's named after a freaking candy bar. But the whole advertising thing just feels...weird. An OS named after a candy bar? That's unprecedented, but it also just feels wrong. That being said, I do like Kit Kats, they're probably one of my favorite candy bars, so I'll be eating more come halloween time to see if I can win a free tablet. On a completely serious note, a name change to the OS means that 4.4 will probably bring major changes. I'm thinking 4.4 will launch with the brand new Nexus 4 (or 5) sometime in October/November.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 2, 2013 -> 09:44 AM) There has to be some set up for however it is going to end. I'm good with it. I wasn't expecting a setup episode when there were only 5 left in the series.
  13. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 1, 2013 -> 11:56 PM) Yeah, but like, how good would LeBron have been in the 80s? /threadkillingarguments LeBron would have been VHS.
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 30, 2013 -> 09:04 PM) We won our first two games 18-15 and 16-5. First game we were losing 15-6 going into the bottom of the 6th and we just went in a run. I was pretty nervous, and it was a bad team that had no business beating us, but our pitcher was in Wisconsin pitching. This is why softball is awesome. You're pretty much never out of it.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 1, 2013 -> 10:05 PM) boring? Another outstanding episode IMO. Skylar asking for Jesses death? Marie being so friendly with Jesse? So many good scenes. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a bad episode by any means. But this one just didn't have as many "holy s***" moments like the previous episode did.

BrBa was pretty boring today until the last few minutes. Hank really came off as a total douche.
  17. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 1, 2013 -> 08:36 AM) I think his point is that it doesn't matter that it takes a whopping 45 seconds to start up a netflix video from his PS3. I never realized how right Louie CK was with his routine where he talks about people that can't give anything a f***ing minute these days. The Chomecast is nice BECAUSE of what it costs. Otherwise, he's right, while this will change, at this very moment, it's nothing more than a Netflix/Youtube device that you paid Google to beta test for them. Sqwert is in a different category, though, since Google practically paid him to take the damn thing. He got the 3 months of Netflix credit, and in such a case that was a no brainer. They quickly yanked that offer. You can still get the code from Best Buy. I got 9 months for free.
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 30, 2013 -> 01:28 PM) That's a lot of work and driving for Netflix and YouTube. Yes it is, considering others have gotten theirs while sitting in their office chair.
  19. Remember when there was a discussion in the off-season about acquiring Jason Kubel? Good thing that didn't happen.
  20. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Aug 29, 2013 -> 11:02 PM) They always say ships in 2-3 weeks though. Check slickdeals 2-3 times a day, you're bound to find it in stock. I'm talking about the Best Buy website BTW, not Amazon or Google Play.
  21. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 30, 2013 -> 11:13 AM) Just pledged to the Pressy kickstarter. Pretty neat little invention. Makes my decision to get the HTC One over the Moto X more tolerable as I really liked the double twist camera trick on the X. This seems even easier and I won't risk flinging my phone across the room. LINK (It's worth checking out the video) You guys do know that in Android 4.2, all it takes to get to the camera is to unlock the phone and swipe to the left on the lockscreen, right? That Moto X double twist thing might work half the time and you risk flinging your phone. The camera thing is cool with Pressy, but for a lot of the other stuff, you can just use Tasker.
  22. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Aug 29, 2013 -> 10:05 PM) Exactly what I was about to say. The size of your device you are streaming it from has 0 impact on the resolution on your TV. My dad got his in yesterday or today, and I will come home from school tomorrow so I'll get to try it out. I've been calling Best Buy every couple days but they have yet to get any in. I've heard some random Best Buys across the country are getting a handful in at a time. Just order online, they come back in stock every few hours. I've ordered all of mine that way.
  23. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 29, 2013 -> 01:39 PM) So my chromecast order finally came in last night. Pretty sleek device with some potential, especially for $35. At this point it's basically a more convenient (i.e., wireless) way to play netflix or youtube on my bedroom TV, not a full-fledged phone/tablet-with-all-the apps-on-TV device. I got a 2nd one for travel purposes. It'd be great if they eventually get HBO GO, Sunday Ticket, and the DirecTV app on there. They also need to add support for casting mobile chrome content, not just desktop chrome content. Koushik Dutta found a way to pretty much stream anything to the Chromecast via an app called AllCast. Google's latest update to Chromecast broke it. Google will be releasing an SDK just for the Chromecast later this year. The platform is young ATM, but when it fully develops, it's gonna be great. I've bought two for myself and one for my parents.
  24. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Aug 29, 2013 -> 12:03 PM) I had an HTC for two years that I dropped plenty of times and it was fine, no case either. Bought a Samsung "Rugby" because it was supposed to be "tougher" than any other AT& T phone it fell about three feet and the screen shattered. Salesperson sold me on the idea that I did not need a case for it, bulls***. Shoulda gotten a Samsung Galaxy S4 Active instead.
  25. chw42 replied to Kyyle23's topic in SLaM
I only bought this year's Madden for the Sunday Ticket promo. I'd much rather pay $100 for a mediocre game (I actually paid $90) and get to watch the Bears than watch the Bears for $300.
