Sox/Royals 7/4 - Sox gain independence from being under .500
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 4, 2011 -> 07:43 PM) I would not bunt here, Ozzie. See if your hitters can actually hit Francis Bavier. Quentin can't bunt.

QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jul 4, 2011 -> 07:37 PM) Who cares? Really you guys try to defend some players and trash others, again rios is sucking big time I have no problem saying it, but I don't pick and choose with stupid past stats Rios is hitting .220. Ramirez is hitting .275. One's worth trashing, the other's acceptable.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 4, 2011 -> 07:33 PM) Francouer woulda been a way better addition than Dunn for 1/15th the cost. Francouer's a stubborn douche who will never be a great player until he listens to the criticism people hand out to him. He's not really good at anything, but has the talent to be a very very good hitter. I think when he looks back on his career 15-20 years from now, he'll regret that he didn't listen to the people who told him to take more pitches and be more patient. Everything you say about Dunn is pretty much hindsight. Because nobody really complained about signing him. And the people that did complain never saw this coming either.

QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jul 4, 2011 -> 07:33 PM) I do't give a hoot about 2008 or last year, what have you done for me lately? That's what counts, yes rios has sucked but Lexi hadn't been far behind Alexei's struggling. Everybody goes through slumps. He was hitting nearly .300 two weeks ago.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 4, 2011 -> 07:31 PM) The ironic thing is both of his hits against lefties should have been pretty routine plays. He did hit the ball pretty hard to end Liriano's no hitter. It just happened to be right at the SS.

How Will Dayan progress in his MLB career?
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 10:12 PM) I'd take Mark Trumbo at this point. Viciedo will hit for a much higher average. He hits too many line drives not to.

How Will Dayan progress in his MLB career?
Right handed Ryan Howard.

Paul Konerko not named to the AllStar Game
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 12:03 PM) I hope someone pisses in Washington's coke. And I'm tired of Hamilton, like milkman said he got in cause he was a coke addict. Hamilton's been good this year. Even though he missed a full month.

Paul Konerko not named to the AllStar Game
QUOTE (FlySox87 @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 12:00 PM) What are Jeter, Martin and Wieters doing on that team? I refuse to watch that crap. Jeter's an automatic vote-in every year.

Paul Konerko not named to the AllStar Game
Alexei's recent slump must have took him out of the running for a reserve spot. Cabrera and Peralta have far better offensive numbers this year.

Paul Konerko not named to the AllStar Game
QUOTE (kapzk @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 11:53 AM) Its also tough seeing Brandon League make it over Sergio Santos I can understand League. He leads the AL in saves. But Chris Perez? WTF? Santos has been way better. Other than Crow and Perez, I can't argue that the pitchers selections are all that horrible. Gio had to go since the A's had no other all-stars.

Paul Konerko not named to the AllStar Game
Konerko made the final vote.

Paul Konerko not named to the AllStar Game
Aaron Crow made the all-star team? My goodness... If KC gets Gordon + Crow and we only get Quentin, Ron Washington needs to go to rehab.

Paul Konerko not named to the AllStar Game
Cuddyer was probably also selected because he can play 3B and RF.

Paul Konerko not named to the AllStar Game
Humber should definitely be on the team.

Paul Konerko not named to the AllStar Game
QUOTE (kapzk @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 11:23 AM) Pretty ridiculous. Lets hope he gets in through the vote in. But this is beyond stupidity, even tho 1B is stacked, Konerko deserves it and so does Humber, but there are a ton of good pitchers, but seeing Cuddyer make it in front of Konerko is disgusting. Forgot, Congrats to Quentin on his selection. The Twins need a representative. Although I think Span was much more deserving. Swap Span and Quentin and Cuddyer and Konerko and I think it seems a lot more fair.

QUOTE (High Mileage @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 01:44 AM) The rotation has nothing to do with Super Two. The arms we have just aren't ready. Duffy is learning on the fly, and we lost John Lamb to Tommy John Surgery. Mike Montgomery is having his up's and down's in Triple A. Jake Odorizzi was dominating high-A ball and was just promoted to Double-A. Bruce Chen went 12-7 with a 4.17 ERA for us last year. He's been hurt this year, but he's still pitched well. Paulino has also pitched well for us. Davies is just plain terrible and Francis is a filler... Paulino has some real potential.

2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (Real @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 12:18 AM) Do you really think we had a chance? I'm sure we had talks with Florida but the package was pretty lackluster. Detroits centerpiece was Andrew Miller right? Florida totally bombed that trade. They got nothing out of Maybin and Miller. The offer the Sox had out there would have been a much better return (wasn't Floyd or Danks in that offer?)

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 10:51 PM) Their offense could certainly win them some games as well. Seattles offense last season was embarrassing That Tigers offense is very scary. Although I fully expect Avila and Boesch to regress. I don't see them both hitting .300 for the rest of the season.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 09:32 PM) Bart has a 1.5 WAR... And this stuff with Edwin and his advanced statistics is crazy...so is he incredibly unlucky then or are some of these advanced metrics still a bit questionable? Context is everything. The reason why Jackson has an ERA a whole run higher than his FIP is because he's getting hit hard. He's giving up 25% line drives. So his .340 something BABIP is not a coincidence, per say. Jackson's tERA is 4.28, which is pretty much what his ERA is right now. In cases where guys are getting shelled by high LD rates, it's easy to see how FIP might not work. The same thing goes for Zack Greinke right now, too, but to an absolute extreme.

QUOTE (NIUSox @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 07:05 PM) Plus there are some major shout outs to Aurora on the highways signs in that scene. :headbang I enjoyed that. Although wasn't that scene supposed to be in Washington? The entire plot is full of holes. It's pretty funny.
