  1. Why is Rios hitting in front of A.J. when A.J.'s been on fire recently?
  2. KONERKO goin' deep!
  3. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 18, 2012 -> 01:26 PM) I coached/played on company teams, started a couple teams on my own... this one, I moved to a suburb and didn't really know anyone or a team, so I just called the park district to see if they were taking any free agents. He had me email him a "softball resume" (that was fun to write), he sent it to the coaches of the teams in various leagues, and then I started getting emails from the coaches about playing. When did you inquire about your free agency? Right when the leagues started?
  4. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 18, 2012 -> 01:10 PM) You can just admit you were wrong, and we can move on. Laying out your options on the table, BOSS.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 18, 2012 -> 01:08 PM) Its happening with fanbases everywhere. DRose shouldn't be playing he should be sitting, Dunn shouldn't be playing he might get hurt. Read fan comments anytime a significant player gets hurt, they shouldn't have been playing. The bottom line..........everyone might get hurt. They have been playing all of their lives, don't worry about it. Rose probably shouldn't have been playing though. It was like the equivalent of being up by 5 with in the 9th inning and having your starting pitcher still out there with 120 pitches.
  6. Samardzija's been surprisingly good this season. 2.5 FIP to go with that low ERA.
  7. Where the hell do you guys sign up for these leagues? I'm too old to play organized baseball now and I've always enjoyed how easy it is to hit in softball.
  8. QUOTE (Brian @ May 18, 2012 -> 11:03 AM) Seeing some Cub fans on FB and Twitter call Wood GREAT is making me nauseous. He was great...like 10 years ago.
  9. QUOTE (The Critic @ May 18, 2012 -> 10:27 AM) The nickname I hope he avoids is "Yard" Sale. Or Clearance Sale. Hey, that can actually pass for a real person's name!
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 18, 2012 -> 10:32 AM) Nope, he's garbage. If you can't improve with Chris Paul then you're just not that good. DeAndreJordan4life.
  11. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 17, 2012 -> 01:39 PM) Measures like UZR are nearly useless this time of year, the sample size just isn't big enough yet. UZR has always liked Soriano out in left field. I don't understand the fascination. Apparently, his range isn't as bad as we thought and his arm is one of the best in baseball. Beats me.
  12. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ May 18, 2012 -> 09:19 AM) NOOOO KID K BREAKING: Kerry Wood to announce retirement today from the #Cubs. Damn, that means no more 8th inning breakdowns from 4 walks in a row.
  13. QUOTE (knightni @ May 17, 2012 -> 09:08 PM) Looks like Team USA is short big men for the Olympics. Maybe Andrew Bynum will be someone USA could look at. Roy Hibbert wants to join, but he has a contract with Team Jamaica. Meanwhile, JaVale McGee wants to join Team Philippines. Is Noah playing for France this year? Who is Filipino in his family?
  14. Miami is f***ed. This is great.
  15. Vernon Wells can't hit, has no range or speed, but can still rob home runs. Son of a b****...
  16. It's the curse of the perfect game (again).
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 16, 2012 -> 12:28 PM) Both of them were horrendous calls. I'd have flipped, too. I would have as well. But then again, I hate umpires trying to make a point. Your job is to call balls and strikes, not enforce yourself into the game.

    QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 16, 2012 -> 12:04 AM) So back to the Angels. They're penned in by the Wells contract (http://www.sbnation.com/mlb/2011/1/24/1953584/vernon-wells-contract-angels-trade-blue-jays), owing him $42 million for the next two seasons. But they get the Torii Hunter deal off the books after this season AND they've already jettisoned Abreu. Obviously, they have Trout in their future plans, but why wouldn't they just hold on to Bourjos for the remainder of this season, knowing they'll still need him in 2013 and beyond? What would the White Sox have to offer the Angels (that they need in present-tense since Pujols/Wilson put them firmly in "win now" territory) which would make the trade even worth doing for Anaheim? So, in the end, what's the best thing for the White Sox to do, trade Konerko and make Viciedo the primary 1B (sharing at-bats with Dan Johnson) with Dunn as the DH for two more years...making the OF DeAza/Bourjos/Rios...or trading Dunn and keeping Konerko? Sentimentally, most would argue for keeping Paulie (also because of the uncertainty about Viciedo's defense with another position move back to 1B and the fact Viciedo perhaps has his highest value in RF, compared to LF/1B/DH) and getting Dunn's contract off the books. The problem with that is Dunn is younger than Konerko, he's left-handed and he probably has a better chance of having two more excellent offensive seasons in 2013 and 2014 than Paulie does. Then you're still left with some difficult questions: 1) What pieces do you have to trade to acquire Bourjos 2) Will what's left of the starting rotation be enough to be competitive in 2013 and 2014? 3) Can they get anything back for Gavin Floyd which will make further weakening the starting rotation in 2013 worth it (long-term)? Or would they be better off exercising his 2013 option and waiting longer to trade him? 4) Is it worth it to keep Konerko and Dunn around if the team's still a 75-85 win proposition because of starting pitching issues? Oh s***, you already know he will be a White Sox next year then. Kenny will jump on him.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 16, 2012 -> 08:20 AM) Different subject. Last night's scoring: James: 28 Wade: 24 Everyone else: 23. They need Bosh, badly.

    QUOTE (GREEDY @ May 15, 2012 -> 09:38 PM) I can't remember the last time a 25 year old player with this kind of talent has been this "available". Local dude, only 740 career at-bats, and he has a Jacoby Ellsbury circa 2011 skill set. But because Kenny Williams currently employs three everyday designated hitters, there really isn't an outfield spot for Bourjos. It is a shame because he is going to be a better player than anyone in our organization. At least the Sox aren't blocking him with Vernon Wells. I would love Bourjos, defensive extraordinaire. I'd contemplate trading Viciedo for him.
  21. QUOTE (Jake @ May 15, 2012 -> 08:44 PM) I think some people think that amnestying Boozer just means he is off the books. Amnestying Boozer will mean: Boozer can be bid on by teams with cap room. The highest bidder gets Booz. The Bulls pay the difference between the high bid and the contract we gave him (!!!) The amnesty could potentially blow up in our face with us paying him a ton to not even be playing for us Getting his contract off the books is worth that, IMO. But I foresee next season as a throw-away year anyways. They might as well tank for a high pick.
  22. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 15, 2012 -> 08:21 PM) Trust me, we argued over the phone to them that 0 data was used, and 0 data will ever be used, and they said it's company policy that all smartphones require a min. $15 mo. data plan. I even asked if i could "pay per use" with the data since the whole idea of that plan is supposedly to "save people from spending too much data", and they said NO. And the worst part was, when they added the data plan on automatically to our bill, they charged us for the higher end $25 plan, not the minimum $15 plan. Assholes. Well, that would be a good time to switch, early termination fee or not. Honestly, going contract-less these days is a great idea if you don't have to get phones for an entire family.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 15, 2012 -> 04:44 PM) I wonder if the Bulls would be better in the long run if they punted on 2013? Let Deng play the olympics then go for surgery, amnesty Boozer, trade Jo to the highest bidder, and let the option guys go. Then when you come back for 2013 you get a healthy Rose and Deng, plus a high draft pick, and the kid from Europe potentially as well. I'm all for amnestying Boozer. Trading Joakim though...nah, he's way too valuable of a player at his position. Unless you get wow'd, there's no way you'd move him. I would love to keep Gibson, Noah, and Deng. Trade everyone else if you have to.
  24. That fell apart very fast...
  25. This is about to become a melt down inning.
