This is why this team can't be taken seriously. Our manager's an idiot.

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 08:22 PM) I just hate how we know that Jake just blows after 70 pitches and Humber is in the bullpen and we just know Ozzie has no idea what he needs to do here. We are leading one of the best pitchers in MLB. We are completely hopeless at adding on. GET THE BULLPEN UP!! ..not gonna happen and we'll all regret it soon enough. I don't think Ozzie wants to hurt Jake's feelings.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 08:13 PM) I always feel like Miggy is going to kill us in every at bat, except vs Santos. I'm fairly sure Cabrera hasn't gotten out when facing Crain this season.

This has happened to Peavy too often this season. He battles with the hitter all AB, only to get beat.

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 08:09 PM) That would be a crazy overpay, IMO. You're giving up a rental, a 34 year old reliever who is owed $12 more million, and a fringe AAAA player for a guy who was a 4.5 WAR player last season. I'll take it.

Alexei's been crap at the plate since June. It's hot now Alexei, you can start hitting again.

QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 07:55 PM) How? At this point it's a blessing noone is going to take his contract and it gets him off the field We owe him $40 million. Rios' talent hasn't gone anywhere, he's just mentally screwed. I'd rather keep him and see if he can eventually turn it around than giving up on him right now. Because more likely than not, if we release him, some team will pick him back up and I wouldn't bet against him having success elsewhere.

2011 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 11:23 AM) I thought it was nuts to even suggest. But honestly, if you're the Mariners, do you at least consider trading Felix? That organization is in complete shambles right now. Their lineup rivals any from the dead ball era. Not much of a system to speak of. Ackley/Pineda appear to be legitimate building blocks. But they're so far away right now that Felix could possibly mean more to you in a trade than he does pitching for you every fifth day with no realistic chance of competing. What team wouldn't empty out their farm for him? Isn't it amazing that the M's were predicted to possibly win the AL West by some people last year? They were the poster boy of sabermetric principles with Jack Z making what appeared to be good move after good move, but all those good moves haven't turned into much. Justin Smoak's the only positive thing to come out of it.

Colby Rasmus Trade Rumor
QUOTE (docsox24 @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 10:13 AM) Personally I think in two years Rasmus is going to be a stud. I would love to have him on our team. Rios, however, will be an awful bat for a RF. On the other hand, I would not trade Carlos for Beachy, who has limited upside and is likely to be a #4 or #3 starter at best. Carlos is far and away one of our two best hitters right now. Saying that we have a suitable replacement in Dayan is not persuasive to me. We need both guys in the lineup to have a chance because we have so many other below average hitters. In addition, it is far from proven that Dayan can match Carlos' production. I'd rather take Beachy's #3 starter potential for 5 more years than have Quentin for one more.
