QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 01:50 PM) God damn Phil Humber. Makin' me look more foolish every start. And yet Dunn has deprived me of my baseball spirit. I'm confident that Humber is Loaiza part 2.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 01:46 PM) In the fangraphs world, Omar has 48.5 WAR in his career. While that's not first ballot, it's at least borderline...and interpreting it is hampered by the fact that there isn't good defensive video for most of teh 90's when he played his best defensive ball. When you factor that in, he ranks well. I'd say 65-75 WAR is Hall of Fame worthy. Considering how long Omar's played and he's still not at the 50 mark, I give him a very big "meh". If he makes it in, good for him, but I wouldn't vote him in.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 01:42 PM) Once guys like Hawk start saying a guy is a first-ballot HOF-er, they're probably right...because the HOF voters are a lot of old baseball people, often like Hawk. lol this has some truth to it.

QUOTE (FlySox87 @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 01:40 PM) Is anyone else tired of Hawk's constant "First Ballot HOFer Omar Vizquel" talk? It really annoys me when he talks about the guy like he's one of the all-time greats. You could compare him to Ozzie Smith, but Ozzie was a freaking wizard with the glove. He had two more GG's even while playing four less seasons. Either way, I've never seen Omar as a HOFer at all, much less a first ballot guy. Anyone agree? He's not a HOFer.

2011-2012 OFFICIAL NBA LOCKOUT thread
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 12:59 AM) Ilyasova is also a banger down low and will back guys down. Those are things that Mirotic doesn't have in his game. At least not yet. This is what I'm trying to tell you. Right now, his game most resembles Bargnani. As in a big man who spends most of his time on the perimeter and wont get you much more than 5 or 6 rebounds a game. Mirotic hustles way more than Bargnani though. No reason to think he can't develop into Bargnani, who is 5 years older. Ilyasova's not a bad player. I'd say he's not that much worse than Bargnani if you give him as many touches as Bargnani gets. I haven't watched him that much, but from the splits, he is pretty much just a jump shooter. 73% of his shots are jump shots. 27% come from the inside. Those kind of splits aren't what down low bangers do.

At least there's no chance we come back now. One error. Ugh.

The position players must hate Matt Thornton with a vengeance. Because they f*** up whenever he's pitching.

That's the second run we've given them in extras because of piss poor defense. Terrible.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 11:48 PM) Valverde? Valverde wasn't on the Tigers in 08. Dye hit a huge go-ahead homer I remember. I think it was off Doug Jones.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 11:46 PM) The last few years, the Sox have not been a big "celebration" team. That doesn't mean anything at all. Basically since Swisher left, you don't see any goofiness, etc. I remember the Sox dugout exploded 3 years ago when the Sox scored 3 runs to beat the Tigers in the 9th.

F*** it III: Sox vs The National. First Pitch 7:10 CT
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 11:44 PM) I can say for a fact that's simply not true. AJ hits a huge homer to tie the game and the dugout isn't pumped? That says a lot about the team's chemistry.
