QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 05:35 PM) He's going to stick out there compared to rest of the team. He sticks out on just about every team. Courtney Lee is inactive for Houston's game, could mean something.

You can probably get Rasmus for Danks or Floyd plus some of our best spects. But Buehrle? No way.

Adam Wainwright significant elbow injury
My Cardinals friends' worst nightmares have come true. One of them kept telling me about how he was worried that Waino's arm was going to pop off at any moment due to his bad mechanics. Well, that moment has occurred. The Cards are screwed.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
Lee is a bad defender, Mayo's a bad defender, Parker's not a good defender either. All these guys have Dratings around 110. Bogans is actually one of the better defensive 2 guards in the league, according to Drating. Mayo's had a very bad year offensively. PER likes Lee the most out of this group this year, but Mayo's definitely the high up-side guy who the Bulls should aim for.

MLB '11 The Show
Played two games of the demo. I like the stick controls. Pitching is now a lot more realistic. 40% of my pitches were balls, that's usually what it is for most pitchers.

Projected Runs Scored & Runs Allowed
QUOTE (joeynach @ Feb 22, 2011 -> 05:26 PM) I think this may have been shown in another thread, I can remember, but does anyone know where to find projections for a team Runs Scored and Runs Allowed. I would be nice to see the projections for the Sox and other AL teams and then apply the Bill James Pythagorean formula: W%=[(Runs Scored)^1.81]/[(Runs Scored)^1.81 + (Runs Allowed)^1.81]. This would reveal a pretty accurate projection for season wins, which can be used for awesome knowledge/gambling. Anyway, does anyone have a link or source for those RS and RA projections per team (BP, Pecota, Zips, etc). Not yet. There will be soon. CAIRO has them up already and I think BP will have theirs up soon.

KW calls $30 million for Albert Pujols “asinine"
It's not the $30 million per season that's the issue, it's the $30 million for 9-10 years that is the problem. Pujols, at this point, is worth the $30 million, trust me.

Even though the Knicks may not have much depth left, they're still a better team than they were. I hope they somehow overtake Atlanta so the Bulls don't have to play them in the first round.

I'm betting it's gonna be Twins vs. Yankees or Rangers vs. Giants for the teams you can play as in the demo.

2011 AL Central Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 03:12 PM) link I think the line I bolded is the most important here. Morneau's brain is f*cked up and he might just be permanently damaged. Anyone thinking he'll be 100% anytime soon is certainly looking on the bright side of things. He probably shouldn't have played so much hockey in his youth. But I guess that's Canada for you. I think he'll be ready to start the season. Whether or not he's the same player and can play the majority of the season will be the question.

"We're the team to beat."
This team needs to have a kickass mentality this year. They need to convince themselves that the Twins are s*** and they are THE s***. No more friendly talk about the Twins and how they're this well-runned organization. When you embrace your rival that much, something is wrong. You don't hear the same stuff from the Twins about the Sox.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 01:17 PM) That only works if you take WAR as an absolute number with no margin of error and able to apply to different players moving to different teams, which has a whole host of variables in play. That's why I didn't use exact figures - like half wins. I think it ought to be kinda clear that Thome's impact on the Twins was at least 3 wins and that Kotsay didn't help the Sox at all.

Isn't It Amazing How Easy It Is to Keep Rabid Fans Happy?
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 11:12 AM) Swap Thome and Kotsay with the Twins--what's their record, what's the Sox? It's an unanswerable question, but it still highlights how bad of an idea the rotating DH with Kotsay was. Whether it cost the division is immaterial, and I'm very happy that KW corrected this problem. It is answerable. Thome was worth 3.5 wins to the Twins, he would have gotten even more PA for the Sox. So he's at least worth 3 wins. Kotsay was worth none, hell, he could have had a negative effect. So that's a 3 win swing alone. Take Thome's 300 PAs away from the Twins and replace that with Kubel or whoever they had to have at DH (who had a bad year last season) and that's at least 2 fewer wins for the Twins. So 3 more wins for the Sox, two less for the Twins and the difference between the two teams is now 1 game. Or you can say that the swing between Thome and Kotsay was 4 wins, which would then put the Sox in a dead tie with Minnesota.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 08:22 AM) Last year was not a strong year for the DH position. It wasn't a strong year for any position offensively.
