July White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 11:15 AM) Zwuh? I'm talking about this from a peripheral standpoint. Yes, he had a good ERA and all, but he was very lucky that year. Ever since then, it's been the exact opposite. Ace-like peripherals, bad luck.

Looks like Mr. Law dropped the ball on this one. Gavin's 08 wasn't very good, but he's developed into a top flight pitcher.

Jorge Cantu to the Rangers
QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 10:38 AM) Sanchez is supposedly available as well as they are looking to clear the way for Morrison. He would definitely cost more than Cantu though with their contract situations. I'd rather go get LaRoche.

July White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 10:37 AM) Law was hired in 2002 by Ricciardi, so that was after all of the Wells/Sirotka stuff. I think it has more to do with him just having a disagreement with the Sox organizational philosophy in general. Law preaches that teams should build from within, making well calculated risks during the draft and bringing in players via international free agency and only when a team is close to competing should they go out and spend money in free agency or trade players away. Williams, instead, uses his minor league players to bring in major leaguers and has rarely used the Sox minor league system to directly impact the White Sox. Law, I would imagine, was pretty pissed off that the Sox won in 2008 considering the year before they looked like a franchise that was doomed to fail for 3-5 years. That is, he would be pissed off if he cared. I'm not sure he did. I looked around the web last night, and it seems as though there are several teams that believe that Law "hates" them, the Nationals being one. So shouldn't Law hate the Yankees too? The Tigers? The Cubs? And it's not like Kenny hasn't acquired good prospects before (Danks, Floyd, Quentin, Alexei).

If I ever go there again, I'm going to think about Jake Peavy.

BTW, I don't think Peavy's insurance kicks in until next year and that's if he's hurt for next year.

NBA Offseason Thread
QUOTE (hitlesswonder @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 09:50 AM) On the plus side, Chris Paul supposedly said that he and Carmelo are planning on coming to the Knicks to form their own Big Three there...that's a team that would be able to compete with the Heat...but we have to wait 2 years for that and I have trouble of thinking of a team I dislike more than NY and Miami.... I don't want to root for the freaking Knicks...

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 09:49 AM) Juwan Howard?? I thought he was already retired, does he even have anything left? Who knows. All I know is that he only needs to play like 10 minutes a game.

Hell, if Alexei was hitting better, he probably could have made the team.

George Steinbrenner died
It's been a sad couple of days for the Yankees and their fans. RIP.

2010 AL Central Catch-All
Looks like they're emulating the 2003 White Sox.

Jorge Cantu to the Rangers
No thanks. Right handed, pretty bad production (.320 wOBA for a DH? I'd rather have Kotsay or Teahen), and will actually cost prospects. His defense at 3B is nothing stellar, in fact, he's not any better than Teahen. Gaby Sanchez would make more sense, but we're not getting him.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 09:11 AM) I agree Jeter is not having his best year, but take a look at the list of AL shortstops this year, it doesnt get much better. Elvis Andrus and Alex Gonzalez have been just as good, if not better. I have more of an issue with Jeter hitting second when Carl Crawford and Robinson Cano are hitting 8th and 9th.

2010 All Star Game Thread
Anybody see these lineups yet? AL 1. Ichiro RF 2. Jeter SS (He doesn't really deserve to be in the game, let alone hitting second...) 3. Cabrera 1B 4. Hamilton CF (Ichiro should be playing center, Hamilton's D is meh) 5. Guerrero DH 6. Longoria 3B 7. Mauer C 8. Cano 2B (A bit low for him, he's one of the best hitters in this lineup) 9. Crawford LF (Should be higher, his bat is getting wasted down here while Jeter's getting more PAs) SP. Price (Where's Cliff Lee?) NL 1. Ramirez SS 2. Prado 2B 3. Pujols 1B 4. Howard DH (Votto gets snubbed twice, he should be DHing) 5. Wright 3B 6. Braun LF 7. Ethier CF (LMAO, Ethier can't even play right field, how can he play center? This should be Marlon Byrd's spot, Corey Hart shouldn't be starting). 8. Hart RF 9. Molina C (I feel bad for Miguel Olivo) SP. Jimenez I seriously thought Charlie Manuel was smarter than this, his lineup, along with Ethier in center field just makes it look like the NL wants to lose. Good thing this won't be the setup all game.

I saw that D-Wade posted something about his kids on his Facebook. I really wanted to say something like, "In Dwyane's World, LeBron and Chris Bosh >>>>>>> D-Wade's kids".
