  1. Keith Law's Agendas 1. Suck off a prospect he likes at the time (Right now, Mike Trout is that guy). 2. Hate on the White Sox farm system 3. Hate on the White Sox and anyone they draft (ie. Chris Sale) 4. Leave Chris Carpenter off the Cy Young ballot and vote for an ex-White Sox just so he can help Javy say, "I told you so" and make the Sox look bad. 5. Just hate on the White Sox in general while sucking off their division rivals like the Twins.
  2. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 12:27 PM) I don't think his D has been horrid. I mean - come on... horrid? NOT EVEN CLOSE! =) No, it really is horrid.
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 12:15 PM) Realistic or pipe dream fantasy. Whatever. You know how these work. -Beckham continues to bounce back and ends this suckfest of a year with an OPS above .700. -Williams makes a couple of moves, one to add a left handed bat, and one to add another back of the rotation type to allow for flexibility for the rest of the season -Ozzie Guillen says that Tony Pena is his MVP Looks like we have ourselves a new D.J. Carrasco.
  4. Carlos Quentin hits well enough to get into MVP consideration, despite his horrid defense.
  5. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 11:56 AM) Great infield defense, bad outfield defense. Span has been a good defender, but Cuddyer has been dreadful in RF, and Kubel has been terrible as usual when he's played. Delmon Young has actually made drastic improvements from a horrendous fielder to merely a bad outfielder this year. Plus, no J.J. Hardy... So Cuddyer had to play 2B and 3B a couple of times. God he sucks at defense. He's one of the most overrated players in baseball. That outfield of theirs is really bad.
  6. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 11:32 AM) I wonder if the Bulls considered Josh Childress at all. I thought he would have been a pretty good fit, but my guess is, they don't want to go more than 3 years with any of these guys as they want to ensure they have some financial flexibility and not a ton of guys all inked up for the next 6 years. Josh Howard would be decent, but he's recovering from a torn ACL and it will be a while until he is back. I also don't think he fits in very well at the 2 defensively. I wonder if the Bulls would be able to pull off a trade for any of the following: Jason Richardson OJ Mayo Mayo and D-Rose on the same team? Daymn. Not happening, but I can dream right?
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 11:28 AM) Speaking of that, I saw Dee Brown in a Summer League game the other day on NBA TV. Holy cow, does he suck! He was the worst player on the court. It's funny because I saw a whole ranking of the best Illini athletes on the Daily Illini a couple of months ago. Dee Brown was #1, I really don't know why when Deron Williams is one of the best players in the NBA right now. Maybe some people are bitter that Deron left after his junior year.
  8. If Redick was really the most efficient offensive player last year - then wow. Screw Anthony Morrow.
  9. I don't get the fascination with Scully at times, he's just so damn boring. I'd rather just watch the game with nobody announcing. Hawk is the exact opposite.
  10. Hawk alone makes it unbearable for non-White Sox fans.
  11. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 10:24 AM) Little blurb here; He won't play until mid-season with his ACL injury. But if he can be had for the cheap, it would be a nice move. He can play the 2 as well as the 3.

I've grown very fond of LilliBomb lately, he seems like a completely different player. He's not swinging for the fences all the time, he's going the other way, he just looks like a different hitter, granted it's like 20 ABs...
  13. QUOTE (Real @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 09:57 AM) Twins are 12th out of 14 teams in defensive efficiency. Most runners stranded. On a near-record double plays hit into pace. http://www.sctimes.com/article/20100711/SP...26/-1/RSSSPORTS UZR doesn't agree with defensive efficiency, Twins are a +20 as a team, fourth in baseball. Although the other stuff is definitely weird for them. It must be the fact that they have a bunch of power hitters now.
  14. The Sox are hitting .293 with a 2.25 ERA against Detroit, Atlanta, Anaheim, and Texas over this 25-5 stretch. How the hell is that even ignorable?
  15. Not until he starts outhitting Omar Vizquel. He still has a ways to go. Beckham is stuck in that early mode that the whole team was in. He'd have a good game or a good AB and follow it up with a lot of crap.

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 09:46 PM) Agree. I'm just saying that in the event we put together this package for AllStar Rental X we should call up the Jays before we sign off on the deal and offer that package to them first. But yeah, Lind is a stud. I guess I'm just ready to see Kenny seriously rip off Toronto for the third time. As far as Nolasco though, I'd definitely be up for it but it would be costly (Hudson+) and I'm not so sure the years at the price in dollars is worth what we'd have to give up. The Marlins certainly wouldn't dump him because he's got a nice arm. Edit: I'd definitely trade Flowers and all kinds of other stuff for him, but Viciedo would be off limits for me and Hudson might too, even though Nolasco has the higher ceiling, because Huddy might be a bit better bet in our park, and if the two end up even close in terms of ability to get MLB hitters out, I'd rather have 6 years of Hudson of which 3 are at the minimum. Nolasco won't cost a Hudson, at least I don't think so.
  17. Keith Law really does hate the White Sox. Just heard on the Score that Law doesn't think this run means much because they played a bunch of s***ty teams. Maybe he forgot to mention that the Sox went 11-2 against above .500 teams in Detroit, Anaheim, Atlanta, and Texas. Yeah, half the games they played were against good teams. Seriously, this guy really lets his hatred for this team blind his judgment.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 08:29 PM) A Miami Herold reporter Chat Spencer said: Well that kinda sucks. Hopefully Kenny can change their minds...

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 08:34 PM) All this talk about luck and FIP makes me want to sabre with you. For all I know, Nolasco might be Javier Vazquez when it comes to FIP and ERA. Because Javy is one of those cases where FIP fails to describe his abilities. But Nolasco did have that one really good year two years back... I'm just trying to see if we can get a guy for the cheap who could be money later on.

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 08:35 PM) PS if we're going way under the radar on young guys I want to know what Toronto would ask for Lind. That dude can be scary even though he's not doing too great now. No way Toronto trades him. They got him under contract for cheap for the next 4 years I think. The Jays are rebuilding, but Lind is a huge part of their plan.
  21. I just checked for sure, the combined wOBA of the 3 is .383. Those three have produced 43 batting runs, the team itself is at -14 batting runs as of yesterday. So the success of the second half on offense isn't really up to these three, it'll take a big turnaround from Beckham, Pierre, Kotsay, etc to really make this a good offensive club. You can get these guys help, but unless the guys that are already here produce, this offense will be pretty mediocre.
  22. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 07:45 PM) Well they probably have looked into their options and realize there was no case to be made. Maybe, but that's not stopping Mark Cuban.
  23. QUOTE (IamtheHBOMB @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 07:38 PM) Our 3/4/5 is legit. Hell yeah it is. They have a combined wOBA around .385.
  24. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 07:37 PM) He might of already done that, just because it hasnt been reported main stream doesnt mean it hasnt happened. No, it's been reported that the Cavs and Raptors aren't going to do anything.

Word is that he's on the block. He's making $3.8 million this year and up for arbitration next year before he hits free agency in 2012. Amongst stats people, Nolasco is the perfect example of why ERA is evil, because the guy had nothing but bad luck last year, came up with a 5 ERA, but had a 3.35 FIP. He really sucked early on in the year, but he's started to pitch very well lately. His K rate has been climbing back to respectable rates and he rarely walks anyone. He does give up a lot of home runs, but is a fairly neutral pitcher. I don't know what the Marlins could command, but he's not going to get any cheaper and we all know how the Marlins roll when it comes to salary. ZiPS projects a 3.74 FIP and a 4.31 ERA the rest of the way. With his high ERA, I don't expect him to come at an extremely expensive price.
